    I am a customer, not a hairdresser, who can't seem to get a good haircut for my fine (but VERY dense) blonde hair since I moved from the West Coast to the East Coast, trying to get the "piecy" look but all I keep getting in this area is choppy ends. I kind of remembered how my amazing CA hairdresser used to cut my hair for different textures and figured out the rest from watching techniques that didn't work, but I have been trying to communicate it with the hairdressers here to no avail. This video has validated my ideas AND will help me communicate to hairdressers what actually works for my hair! THANK YOU!!!

      Update: I shared this video with my stylist and pointed to the few minutes that go over the steeper angled point cutting with the angled (not parallel) cuts. She's only done a few cuts on my hair and each time has gotten better but I've struggled with how to explain this end treatment to her. She watched the 5 minutes I pointed to during a break and came back with skepticism (because of my really fine, but SUPER dense long blonde hair, the kind of hair that gives any mis-cut, blunt edge or horizontal line a megaphone) but was willing to give it a shot. The results are AMAZING! I had her steepen the angle even more (pull the hair horizontal to the floor or a little higher and give it a STEEP angle, then point cut into that on a diagonal to create the friends for my ends) and that gave the hair shape to bend inward naturally without any tools and the texture was beautiful points at the end! Exactly what I wanted!!! She used to do the super shallow point cutting that seems to be a thing on the east coast with too much weight at the end, and she used to slice out a lot. You should have seen her smile after the first few cuts and she dropped the hair down... it was priceless and she loved it. And I love it, too. Thanks, Andrew!!!!

    When I ask for blunt end cuts....so many stylists look afraid to try it....perhaps they have not been trained more recently to cut hair this way~ but it is so much better for almost every hair type.

    Thank you for 22:50 about thick, frizzy hair. Thats me! And its soooooo hard to find anyone who doesnt want to either thin my hair like I'm Asian (talk about FRIZZ! 😱) or wants to do steep angling with deep point cutting - creating tons of surface frizz 🤦‍♀️, so I've resorted to just asking for blunt cuts that make me look like a triangle....or I just do it myself 😑. Being a triangular Christmas tree is better than being a Hagrid 🙄

    I dont like when hairstylists point cut my naturally wavy hair lol....is that really necessary????

    • @samvillahair
      @samvillahair  5 років тому +2

      It depends on how the point cut is applied... if it's too parallel it can leave the ends quite soft and wispy which is not great for curl. If the points are more deliberate it allows the ends to gather together into bigger pieces which is much better for curls.
