In Qatar, government projects are awarded to big contractors - mostly managed by foreigners. They hire workers from overseas through agencies in south East Asian countries. The agency takes fees from the companies/contractors. As a result Contractors expect the workers to not work elsewhere once the workers arrive in Qatar. The government cannot control every single recruitment happening in the private sector - which is run by foreigners themselves. For decades, workers have been coming to Qatar from south east Asia willingly (nobody forces them on planes). Im a Qatari and i really enjoyed your channel and starting to like the content your the best and keep the good work up !
Bro he roasted the shit outta you
This video is so well done, I highly recommend you guys watching it, but you are in a hurry, in a few words: It's because they are rich ASF and they wanna flex to all the broke people coming in.
This is such a funny video, loved it!!! ❤️
So, in summary, most of the gulf states are absolutely light speed heading for A. Economic collapse B. Revolution or C. Pseudo colonisation
It is a literal dystopian hellhole. You couldn’t pay me enough to go back there.
I was literally laughing like hell when you tried to pronounce the name of that Indian guy.
I mean if their main concern is instability, they could also just you know… pay their workers
But that'd would make the bank number smaller, the whole point is green line go up
this is the most unhinged h0ser video and I LOVE IT!
I just love the editing style and the flow of the video. Keep em comming!
I was hoping you would cover why FIFA actually chose them, but still a good video.
FIFA chose them because of capitalist bribery.
It's money
I know, i want to know the details behind that. Before clicking I thought that was the whole point of the video. The title is why they are hosting the cup, not what is Qatar.
@@sakalaath Johnny Harris created video on the topic
You should watch this video from Johny Harris for that kind of info. It's probably the reason why this one popped in my youtube recommendations...

I have been living in Qatar as an Egyptian for basically my whole life, amazing place, fuckin love it, but 0/10 for the (basically just indian) migrant worker conditions they are kept in gulag conditions
because you're Arab and Muslim, you have it better. qatar is in the feudal age: nobility, knights , peasantry and serfs
@@crimsonlightbinder not true. most of those living in gulag conditions are muslims and some are egyptian.

@@anaskhoiri3653 its funny in national studies we learned that al thani like all the other houses ruling kuwait, bahrain and the uae came from al-qassim in the 1700s. yet al thani reserve to themselves the right to strip citizenship from dissidents from tribes that have inhabited qatar before them.

I love this channel ❤ so simplistic yet complex information
In Qatar, government projects are awarded to big contractors - mostly managed by foreigners. They hire workers from overseas through agencies in south East Asian countries. The agency takes fees from the companies/contractors. As a result Contractors expect the workers to not work elsewhere once the workers arrive in Qatar.
The government cannot control every single recruitment happening in the private sector - which is run by foreigners themselves.
For decades, workers have been coming to Qatar from south east Asia willingly (nobody forces them on planes). The workers know that conditions in their countries (and in Europe) are worse than in Qatar.
If the Europeans are sincere about those south East Asians, then they should hire them in Europe.
Those immigrant worker move in in Quatar (or any other rich Arab state) not because the condition in their own country are worst but because there is more money to be made.
@@Boby9333 take them to Europe ( First world countries )
@@Boby9333 then take them to Europe and see them how they’ll live, exactly, worse with taxes on top of that
They come to Qatar willingly but they have to sign a load of contracts in Arabic (intentionally not in their native language) saying they can't leave without their employers permission. If they where so happy working in Qatar then I wonder why they need to make them sign such a thing?
@@fishcereal9940 nooo?? First of all Qatar native tongue is Arabic but if you don't speak it we have papers translated to different languages all over so non arabs understand.
my uncle taught at a community college in qatar for like 15 years before moving back to canada. You be would safe to assume he always got the best christmas and bday gifts from uncle steve
Turns out they made actual roads and implemented actual public transportation for the visitors during the world cup
No wonder why they're so rich they basically had no state expenses compared to other countries
When you've got too much money the itch to spend it increases proportionally

As a Qatari this vid was funny and entertaining
Tbh I’m from Qatar some of the things that were said in the video are true like how rich people are there because I don’t remember meeting a Qatari without a fancy house or car which sounded good to me. I used to think about how we shouldn’t always use the natural gas and try to use other things because everyone know that it is limited. The only thing that shocked me is the “slave” topic I always used to see the immigrants treat us well it didn’t seem like they hated us or something if you mean the maid or driver then I will tell you that everyone pays them I lived with the same maid and driver for more than 10 years nothing seemed strange but if it’s about the workers then I can’t say anything about that since the government pays them not us the citizens.
I'm not even qatari and I'm so mad and the fact no one is pointing out he's racist is fcked up man
the immigrants have no choice but do not display any ill will towards qataris. Their livelihoods and their families back in their home countries depends on it. I wouldn't expect someone in a privileged position like you to witness firsthand the struggles of immigrant "labourers" because you are metaphorically so away from the world they live in despite being in the same city. I hope you would look at their situation from a wider perspective and understand how truly unjustly they are treated and the absolutely inhumane working conditions they endure for money that is practically peanuts for the native Qatari population, such as you.
@@saphiaboutadghart5264 how is he racist?
