With this series complete, now I'm gonna start exploring some music from other entries in the MH series. Next video will be on a theme from World! In the meantime, make sure to check the full playlist to see if you missed any MH music reactions: ua-cam.com/play/PLOVEmfXEEAUDVVWP7ATa3e8jNOyX3Dv69.html
Be aware that most World battle themes have a mount version. Most of them seem to just add bongo's (and who doesn't like bongo's?) but other songs such as "Nay, the honour is ours!" has chanting, or Zinogre's which has a drum kit.
I'm gonna just throw a guess and say Vaal Hazak. Honestly even though the only way to bring it back would be Generations' Shagaru Magala style, I'd be perfectly cool with that since it has a beautiful design, beautiful gear, a fun if presently none too difficult fight(and that's okay!) and of course a beautiful score that captures both the mystery and confusion, like you're lost in a jungle, with the main riff, and a sort of nostalgic-sounding (to me, it reminds me of both the Coronation Street theme and La Vie En Rose) strings bit that makes me think of the countless cycles of death and rebirth that Vaal Hazak sees, perhaps leading it to have a very distanced, ho-hum perspective on death.
If you are taking requests, I do hopee Kulve comes up eventually, her music is fantastic! Her final phase theme really conveys the sheer anger and desperation of kulve while still reminding you that kulve is very much a regal and beautiful creature.
They didn't just make the chorus half Ibushi's theme and half Narwa's theme. They actually played both choruses at the same time, it's just that different parts stand out more based on how they were written. I love how this song finally puts that puzzle together - that Ibushi and Narwa have choruses that are made to work together - while the listener may have not even noticed that it was even a puzzle to begin with. It's what makes Ibushi and Narwa my favorite final bosses of any Monster Hunter game.
Also, i love how they used a bit of MH3 Tri theme on narwa's theme, which as davi says, you can hear through the whole games it's good for the fans but for me it means that Monster Hunter will now get back to it's roots in a term of symbolism we're not hunter because we love to kills, we are hunters because we have to balanced the Eco-system and nature
The music here honestly accentuating something I have personally noticed with concerns to the hunt against Narwa the Allmother. After Ibushi is once again bested by the Hunter, to which in his case is sent tumbling into the cavern below, Narwa, after seeing the state in which he is in, does the unthinkable. In an act of mercy, she kills Ibushi, taking his power for her own in which to significantly magnify her own in a desperate gambit to kill the Hunter. The narrative of the music reflects what has transpired, Narwa having to look at a presumably mortally injured and battered Ibushi, who had failed to drive out or kill the Hunter, is forced to end his suffering, and she turns Ibushi's anger and and her own pain directly to the Hunter in a furious and frenzied last ditch effort to finish what Ibushi could not.
I swear this is why this track makes me tear up, all three of the serpent’s themes pretty much tell a story through the composition, it’s almost as if the theme is from the elder dragons’ points of view rather than the hunters.
@@emblemblade9245 I heard the idea behind it was a mercy kill to end Ibushis pain. But that maybe more of a thematic/writing thing than an actual ecology one.
It's not an act of mercy. Ibushi knew what was going to happen, and so did Narwa. This is how they've always reproduced. It's what Ibushi wanted all along.
Just one thing: even through the sadness and revenge, their plan worked. During the fight Narwa is pregnant with their offspring. She's not fighting just for Ibushi, but for their children as well. A few monsters are evil in this series. Definitely Fatalis, the Alatreon that appears in World can be considered as such, but all those evil monsters are kind of one note. They're consumed by their evil, built around it, they make it their existence to hate and destroy. Narwa and Ibushi, too, are evil, but compared to the others they're evil because they're sapient, not because of any deep hatred of life or humanity. They consciously make the decision to potentially rid the world of life so that their children may live in the perfect world. It's so... Human.
@@LazarusGamingandDiscussion Yes, but its only interaction with the world is pure hatred for humanity. It has no other goal that isn't the extinction of humans, and when it's not destroying kingdoms it's sleeping in the rubble of one. It developed this hatred through sentience, but it's been consumed by it. Hell, it's so much a part of Fatalis that even its dismembered corpse tries to kill its wearer. Narwa and Ibushi, on the other hand, are the only monsters to show sentience *and* other emotions. They still have a deep hatred of humans, but it's not all consuming like Fatalis'. Even when Ibushi is killed, the theme doesn't sound like it's about the Allmother's hatred of his killers, but more about Narwa's sadness and determination in achieving their objective, which is not just blindly murdering everything that moves and isn't them.
@@frescopino7866 Fatalis hates _all_ life other than itself, since the area surrounding Castle Schrade is a barren wasteland for miles around. It just hates humans more than anything else.
I wouldn't say Alatreon is that evil, he is surely sentient but he only wants to stay alone and will attack anything that comes to him, but he never attacked any civilisation or village. We hunt him only because he is super fucking dangerous just from existing
Allmother narwa fight is one of the most epic and cinematic boss fights in Monster Hunter franchise. It compliments so well with the music and it actually feels like we are in a theatre dancing with the monsters, super cinematic ❤️
I'm late to the party, but just to clarify everyone that the JP Voice Actress of Hinoa and Minoto are Not the actual singers for Ibushi's and Narwa's theme songs. It's just a common mistake made by people. The one who sung the lyrics in "Kamura's Song of Purification" and "Breath of Ire" is Izumi Kato, Hinoa is the one who sung it in game. While the one who sung the lyrics in "Brave Hunters" and "Lady of Lightning" is Kanae Miyazaki, Minoto is the one who sung those songs in game. There's a video in Monster Hunter channel revealing the actual singers for those songs. Titled as "Monster Hunter Rise - Making of the Soundtrack".
2:02 I always imagine these two in more human forms to properly express the tragedy of the situation 2:02 Ibushi is lying on the ground, fading fast, and Narwa comes and holds him in her arms, lamenting her imminent loss. 2:07 Ibushi motions to Narwa in a sort of “take my blood” kind of way, and Narwa bites into him like a vampire. (3:28) 3:36 Narwa takes Ibushi’s life force, and, overcome by rage and sadness, explodes with incredible power.
This theme man...I hold it up there right up with the legendary themes of the series. Yes even the original Proof Of A Hero. And theres soooooo much to unpack in this one. The into of the song is sad and slow, and when this bit plays Ibushi has fallen down in the cave and he makes a call that he doesnt usally, while Narwa has back away to the corner away from him and the hunter and is silent. Then she comes near to him and kills him with a swift and clean bite in the stomach. This is bassicaly Ibushi sacrificing himself. His dying, his queen is in a bad shape due to her encounter with the hunter and also starving while she was down in the cave and their future children are in danger. So he gives the last of his energy to his queen to give her a last chance to save herself and protect their young. And yet with how she floats a bit closer to the ground before droping Ibushi you still see the love she has for him even tho his dead now. When she combines his powers with hers is when the song trually kicks in. And you can really see the mix of Ibushis and Narwas theme, with Hinoa singing as if represing Ibushis soul, his flute is louder and more agressive (and you can even see that in Narwas movements and attacks in the fight, shes more agressive, faster, doesnt really seem to care when you flinch her,and will atack all scavengers that Ibushis corpse atracts.Like Magnamalo and the other elders) ,been fulled by Ibushis rage, and Narwas instruments blending in and becoming more obvious when Minoto sings, and again they make this "dun dun dun" sound that feels like represents her lightning And then the chorus kicks in and...Drea God its so beautiful...They mixed everything about them so well. It has grandness, love, devinity and sadness. A final goodbye to the great Golden Mother of Lighting and the Azure Father of Wind. And yes this theme did make me tear up a few times when I first heard it cause imagening Narwa and Ibushi dancing and singing to eachother on top of a snow caped dormant volcano with clouds, lighting, snow and cherry blossom pettals spining around them and a single big beam of light on them in the center of their storm was too beautiful
This song is one of the few that will consistently make me cry upon listening. Monster Hunter themes have a way of getting to my emotions unlike any other game. The climax to Chameleos' theme ', as an example, will always make me want to jump out of my seat and do something with the energy it gives me. Love these reviews, can't wait to see what you cover next.
I find this theme so fascinating. It's so clever how they combine the themes and it just builds up and up into this fully evolved incredible piece. I've really been enjoying these reaction videos! Thank you for doing them!
God I love these videos the amount of detail put into MH is incredible down to ever detail especially the music. I'm so glad there's a channel covering MH music to this extent otherwise it's usually just covers or uploads of the ost but most people wouldn't notice the finer details like those explained here
I'm not at all exaggerating when I say that these videos make me cry! Especially the ones regarding Ibushi and Narwa! Because they're already so important to Rise and Monster Hunter as a whole but also because their story is so tragic, and it shows through the music. I was super looking forward to this one because I knew I'd cry again!
This is probably my favourite story-boss theme. I didn't think anything would top the Ceadeus theme in Tri but wow this one goes all out. Thanks for the breakdowns and analysis~
I love that the translated lyrics almost have a sense of determination about them. Still speaking of ripping apart the sky and earth, stating plainly that their children will be the gods of this world, their paradise, their family, will live, they will make it so.
Just finished this quest 2 weeks ago. This song is very emotional and you can feel it clearly. But, with this deep explanation part by part of the theme, you transmit the real hidden message behind it. Definitely, Capcom nails it at the time of making good music. No jokes, you made me show some tears off. It's noticeable that you enjoy a lot making this. Great job, kep it up Davi!
This song is grand. The first time I heard it, I felt like I had to pauses everything I was doing. I love it. Your analyze just give this theme so much depth I couldn't fathom. Even though I already had a grasp on what this song could mean and show, I felt like I was listening to it for the first time once again. A tragic duet. My, I love it! And I loved that sequence where you were deep in Music Land. I really love to see artists showing their love for said art in a non-verbal, subconscious way.
4:46 probably no correlation but this sequence of chords makes me think of Ibushi alone, Narwa alone, Ibushi and Narwa together, and then Ibushi's death. Like they finally had what they wanted, and it was stripped away. Then the beautiful string section afterward are the raw feelings of that, and like holding back tears (before then getting on with the fight)
To keep with the Rise themes, I'd love to see you review Magnamalo's theme. Your cover of it was great and I love how to you give explanations of music.
Apart from the bit about the chorus transitioning from Ibushi's theme to Narwa's (and some iffy chord transcriptions early on), this is a pretty competent analysis. What I'll say as a composer myself: I've always been of the opinion that music is the supreme expressive medium, and thus it is the most important factor in setting the scene in any audio-visual medium, such as video games. Here, with both the individual Serpent themes and the Allmother theme, I personally feel that, without these tracks, you would have no way of truly UNDERSTANDING the Serpents. The music that accompanies their fights is 90% of what defines their character, and with the inherent desperation and tension present in all three coupled with how they speak through the Maidens, you get a sense that these themes are their way of saying "Listen to me. This is who I am." And that right there lends a deeply personal air to both them in general and their fights.
It’s really cool to see that the themes are merged together like that, especially given that during your ibushi review, you mentioned that some part of it seems to leave bits open for a call and response (though I’m not sure if this was the same portion used here)
Listening to the start of the chorus of the regular Narwa and Ibushi battles, there’s an immediate instance of call and response, with Narwa coming in just a beat sooner than Ibushi’s. It has a striking effect hearing it for the first time if you’re used to Ibushi’s theme!
I’ve seen 2 types of comments in other videos saying that either Ibushi was just Narwa’s prey so she could get stronger which is a good theory considering the Stealos Queen kinda does the same thing but the other type which I 100% believe is the grief and remorse of losing her mate, Both Ibushi and Narwa probably have some kinda of telepathy to talk to each other or just natural nature instinct and Ibushi telling Narwa to take his life and power so she can avenge him and when she does that power uprising of the music showing her rage and intent for revenge but then a small slow sad chord right after that uprising setting in that grief of her dead mate
On a serious note (music puns-giggity) I would love if you did a Music Analysis on World's Flagship-Nergigante. Specifically the transition from Base World to Arch Tempered. There's just so much *Western Roman Colossus Might* coming from the Flying Duran that gets me so pumped, and the second version takes it up a notch as the final fight theme of Base World.
Finally!! Great analysis as always. I got goosebumps when I first listen to this theme. I like the beautiful marriage between Narwa’s theme and Ibushi’s theme in this theme. Given their fates, it’s ironic in a way… ,though. I can’t really describe this theme well, but I like mystical and ephemeral vibes and I’m sure this is a great culmination of the entire MHRise music and a real banger. Thank you, I really enjoyed this video. P.S. Thank you again for having us to the listening party the other day. I had a great time
Mystical and ephemeral is a great way to describe it. They really did a great job differentiating the feel of this track from the other monster themes. Thank you for hanging out with us at the listening party, Aya :D
My theory is that. When the twins were mind controlled and narwa was speaking through them. I like to think Narwa and Ibushi through their voice was singing or speaking their song.
Easily one of my favorite themes from this game, so damn good to listen to. Insane melodies and vocals. When they sing together in the chorus I get the chills, played the quest a few times just for the song
What makes this theme even more unique is that once the "tide turns" in the battle usually around the time the blue skull appears the MH theme proof of a hero starts playing.
This is one of my favorite themes in all of Rise, arguably all of Monster Hunter because of the part where Ibusbi and Narwa’s themes mix together with one another, I love it when songs do that.
I think allmother's theme starts serene because she actually reproduced, ibushi has already feconded her and she absorbs the last of his power. She is calm and satisfied, but then she feels threatened and builds up in a fight for not only her life but her offspring's life as well
I got spoiled on narwa and ibushi in terms of images circling around the internet which i think was unavoidable when waiting for the PC Release (i don't own a switch) but thankfully i wasn't spoiled on the music so after all that waiting it really felt kind of awarding to come here and Listen to it again with a closer "look" Love these Videos man keep it going 👍
God damn it. I heard it before during the fight, but this song really hits differently after thinking about the context. Tbh, I'd feel sad for them if they weren't hellbent on killing us.
Monster Hunter music never fails to make me emotional. Definitely my favorite tracks out of any game series I've ever played. Love the content, keep it up!
Estou VICIADO em ficar vendo os seus vídeos KKKKK Super legal ver alguém do Brasil que também ama monster hunter fazendo um conteúdo tão foda! Parabéns, continue com os ótimos vídeos :D
Hey Davi! This track immediately stood out to me as one of the best in the game. It is honestly one the few times throughout these games where I think they cut to "Proof of a Hero" too early in the fight. This theme is inspiring, tells the story of the battle, and is filled with powerful brass lines which accentuate the climactic nature of the battle and the conclusion of the ark of the game as a whole. Really one of the better Elder Dragon themes in the series, to me it is on par with the Ceadeus theme.
Ooh, so interesting that you mention Ceadeus theme. It's one of my favorites as well and one that I definitely want to talk about here on the channel soon. Thanks for watching, Patrick!
On the same way the serpents combined to something greater, their soundtrack became something more powerful to. It's one of the greatest soundtracks i ever heard!
This makes me miss Allmah fight. Glad to see ya made this, this is great :3 Rise hurry up and make a G/Master Rank version of the danger sky noodles ;-;
I love to Imagin that as soon as ibushi and narwa where in the same place and you almost killed ibushi he asked narwa to "kill" him and absorb the power of his so they can be one forever and together defeat the hunter.
*MH Lore: Narwa the Allmother* "Name: Narwa the Allmother (百竜ノ淵源ナルハタタヒメ) Title: Thunder God Dragon (雷神龍)/Source of the Rampage Length: 3875.05cm Height: 1905.02cm Order: Elder Dragon Suborder: Deity Dragon Family: Unknown Habitats: Unknown" "Ibushi and Narwa were ultimately defeated by the "Fierce," and it seemed that the Rampage had finally ended. Ibushi was repelled in the Stronghold (It was assumed that he would eventually die from his injuries), while Narwa fell into a deep crater and presumably died." "After Narwa was defeated, the Guild sent out scouts to find and recover her body, but she was nowhere to be found..." "During Kamura's celebration, Ibushi and Narwa once again resonated with Hinoa and Minoto. Wind Serpent Ibushi and Thunder Serpent Narwa were very much alive, and they were ready to destroy the land so they could bring forth the next generation of Storm Serpents." "Both serpents had retreated for now to recover from their injuries (Ibushi's injuries were more serious), and while they did remain hidden for quite some time, their presence could still be felt across the land by other monsters." "During this reprieve period, Ibushi and Narwa's activities caused numerous powerful monsters to start appearing (Apex Monsters and Elder Dragons) in the region. What would happen if those two actually met each other?" "Ibushi hid somewhere around the Coral Palace after his battle in the Stronghold (He stayed there for quite a while as he recovered from his injuries), and Narwa went there to find him (Chances are Narwa might've been protecting Ibushi during that first fight in the Coral Palace)." "Ibushi and Narwa had reunited before the Guild could find them, meaning it was only a matter of time before the land was filled with the next generation of Storm Serpents. The Fierce was asked to face off against the duo one more to end the Rampage, once and for all." "Ibushi and Narwa had mated before anyone could find their current location. While Narwa was hiding in her nest as she prepared to lay her eggs, Ibushi was flying around guarding her and the nest." "Although Ibushi had time to recover from his injuries, he was still greatly weakened after that battle at the Stronghold (That's why he goes down so easily during the Allmother quest). Ibushi fought through the pain to protect his mate and his unborn offspring, but he was too weak to overcome the Fierce's onslaught." "After sustaining a large amount of damage from the Fierce, Ibushi fell out of the sky and into Narwa's nest. Ibushi failed to protect his mate and young... He didn't have enough strength to continue fighting, so he made a tough decision. Seemingly, Ibushi told Narwa to devour him and take his powers, and she did what he asked (Whether he really did that or not is up to interpretation). The two became the one known as "Allmother"." "Narwa the Allmother is a Variant of Narwa that came to be after Thunder Serpent Narwa devoured Wind Serpent Ibushi. While Ibushi is the first line of defense against enemies, Narwa is the last line of defense. Ibushi couldn't protect his family from danger, so Narwa sucked out his body fluids and made his power her own. Narwa did this as last ditch effort to protect herself and their offspring (Both serpents just wanted their young, and their young's young, to prosper in the world)." "Throughout MHRise's story, it was the mating season for Ibushi and Narwa, and both were quite moody during this period, especially Narwa. She was angry when Ibushi was seriously wounded in the Stronghold, and she was furious when the Fierce invaded her nest (She was going to lay her eggs soon, but we interrupted her)." "Because she was close to laying her eggs, she was more aggressive than usual (Lore wise, that's why Narwa the Allmother attacks more aggressively compared to Thunder Serpent Narwa. She's desperately trying to protect her young)." "As Narwa absorbs Ibushi's power, her overall coloration will change due to his immense energy combining with her own. Ibushi and Narwa are the Source of the Rampage, and when their powers combine, they become the Allmother (Two become one = a being with the traits of both)." "Noticeably, the appearance of Narwa's thundersacs changes after she absorbs Ibushi's energy. Like Ibushi, Narwa has windsacs on her body, but those sacs have degenerated over time and have become vestigial at best." "However, those windsacs became active again after she absorbed Ibushi's energy. Not only can Narwa the Allmother manipulate lightning, but she can also manipulate wind like her mate. Ibushi's energy also greatly boosted her already outstanding electrical abilities." "The Fierce reported seeing round orbs inside of the thundersac on Narwa the Allmother's abdomen, and those orbs are her eggs. When Narwa is close to laying her eggs, she'll move them to her abdomen (The thundersac on her abdomen doubles as an egg sac)." "Because her body produces so much electrical energy, the thundersac on her abdomen produces an immense amount of light, making that part transparent. When she devours Ibushi, his energy will explosively activate the eggs (Sparks life within them. His energy influences the eggs)." "Like Thunder Serpent Narwa, Narwa the Allmother has outstanding electrical abilities, and Ibushi's energy has made those abilities more extraordinary. Because of his energy, Narwa has gained some new powerful attacks, including a few wind-based attacks. Like the standard Thunder Serpent Narwa, Narwa the Allmother's power will gradually increase as she becomes more enraged." "Narwa the Allmother is the strongest monster in the Kamura Region, standing above all other monsters (Pinnacle of all Life/Apex). She has no equals (Not counting Crimson Glow Valstrax, Apex Diablos, Apex Zinogre, etc.), and no other monster can hope to match her abilities." "Her abilities are in the realm of legend, making her one of a kind. When Narwa devoured Ibushi and gained his energy, numerous monsters, including other elder dragons, in the surrounding area suddenly headed to her location. Those monsters were either drawn to her immense power or came together to try to kill her and end the Rampage (The monsters are also victims of the Rampage)." "Some of the monsters that appeared in the Coral Palace include Magnamalo, Kushala Daora, Teostra, and Malzeno. While it's unknown why those monsters suddenly showed up, they did help the Fierce overcome Narwa the Allmother's immense strength. This sudden barrage of attacks from the monsters and the hunter further angered Narwa the Allmother, causing her to show off her true power. She'll do whatever it takes to protect her and Ibushi's lineage. While Narwa the Allmother did put up a good fight, she was ultimately slain by the Fierce. Thus the Rampage had finally come to an end!" "Her ultramarine and golden yellow scales collide like the sky and lightning. Her horns dominate the dancing gales and earth-splitting thunder. Those who carry one of her horns will be protected from misfortune." "Within the "Orb of Origin" dances father wind and mother lightning (There was a rumor that this material was Narwa's eggs, but there's nothing that confirms this)." "Note: Wind Serpent Ibushi, Thunder Serpent Narwa, and Narwa the Allmother were recently discovered, so there are some things still unknown about them." "Sources : 1. I've been waiting for this! What a beautiful breakdown. As always, I truly appreciate your perspective and how much passion you put into it. I'm SO excited for the other themes you plan on exploring! Namielle maybe? Hopefully? Love that big deep sea friend
I love that you commented on that resolution at the beginning of the song. It makes sense, cause at first Narwa sees Ibushi weakened, about to die, and is in shock because of that, but on a show of resolve, Narwa sees a chance and decides to grasp to her instinct of survival, ending Ibushi's suffering, but gaining his powers. Her path now clearly laid in front of her Holy fuck is this song is a banger
I didnt think that much about this fight the first time I went in, since with Monster Hunter, I typically only focus on the gameplay. I have this tendency to brush off the story aspect as silly, or as taking itself too seriously. But holy shit, after watching this, thinking about the context, and the situation these two monsters are in, ngl I actually teared up. I think most people tend to ignore the storytelling of Monster Hunter since its not something super deep or personal. But holy shit, Capcom really deserves more credit for their storytelling in this series. It's not some deep story that'll make you question your life, but it is still a story told through music, emotions, and atmosphere. Pretty fucking amazing in its own right that they manage to give a compelling narrative of these two monsters with what's essentially just music (and some dialogue but lets ignore that since MH typically doesn't have monsters speaking.) I think the methods with which they tell stories deserve praise, even if the stories themselves aren't something extraordinary. You can really feel the somber acceptance and building anger into a full on roar of emotion at the start of the song. Pretty powerful.
I'm still playing through, dr9ve ibushi off in the rampage quest and that's it so far. So I know pretty much nothing, and before you even said ibushi is dead I started tearing up. That doesn't happen, I've only teared up at orchestral songs (or songs in foreign laguages) one other time, and that's undertale. That's how effective this song is, that without knowing what's going on it drives yout to sadness as you realize this isn't a grand epic, this story is a tragedy
your interpretation of the first part of the song makes me wonder if Narwa would have finished Ibushi if we, the hunter, hadn't been there to fatally wound him in the first place
Hmm... hard to tell. Some people have speculated that they are similar to mantises in the sense that the mating ritual requires them to kill each other. Other people have theorized that Narwa killing Ibushi was an act of mercy to end his pain.
Oi Davi. Wow, this theme is beautiful.! I never realised how complex video game music is. Your brilliant analyses of these MH themes bring them to life for me. You really look like you had fun making this video. Thank you! :)
The very beginning of her theme sounds like gagaku, a type of court music from imperial Japan. Apparently it's based on an older Chinese musical tradition. Gagaku tends to be droning - peaceful, but a bit disonant and mysterious, filling the listener with awe. (Edited because I accidentally just used the Japanese word for "music" rather than the specific type lol).
Awesome videos, i feel like i can appreciate these themes way more after watching your videos. Can you do a Xeno'Jiiva and Safi'Jiiva one? i think that would be dope!
I love allmother narwas theme! Tho i think narwa is probably pregnant since we see things that look like eggs throw her stomach. What i see as more likely is: Ibushi inpregnated Narwa and narwa went to hide inside the Mountain and ibushi started to guard her untill she can give birth. Ibushi fails and falls throw the cealing and since hes so beat up from the fight he sacrifices himself to give narwa a fighting change against our hunter. Theres also 2 more theories about what happens. Theory 1. They work like angler fish where ibushi inpregnates narwa by letting narwa kill him. Theory 2. It was a betrayal. Narwa sensed she was in danger and decided to kill ibushi and steal hes power so she could live but ibushi who she promised shed be with whould die. But we really dont know wich one it is.
The final part is actually a modified version of both Ibushi and Narwa's themes playing simultaneously. Here is a video with the acapella parts of the original themes played at the same time: ua-cam.com/video/mBeBn_kWd10/v-deo.html&ab_channel=TheNintendoMusicChannel This is my favorite final boss theme in the series and I can't wait to see how they plan to follow it up in the eventual expansion. Nice video, btw. Can't wait for the next one! :D
Please please please to 'to one with life' from tri. its one of the most amazing pieces that just speaks of the beauty and wonder of the monster hunter universe.
if you play metroid i'd love to hear your thoughts on some of the tracks. specificlly, Metroid prime 3's space pirate theme, rundas theme, and gendrayda's theme, as well as metroid samus returns metroid queen theme
One thing I just realised that could be a coincidence but I found it pretty neat; The first letters of the corresponding singer and monster are next to each other in alphabetical order. Like Hinoa/Ibushi, the letter H is right before the letter I in alphabetical order. Same with Minoto/Narwa, M & N.
Great video. Been watching for a while. I love this theme so much. Also are you related to Dan Vasc? I didn't even notice you both look the same and have the same last name. I am subbed to both of you and have been for a while and never noticed until now.
6:38 Very interesting take! From your explanation what do you think of the contrasting tensions symbolizing Ibushi's death with the tension reduction and the anger of narwa from the tension increase?
That is a cool interpretation to. Have in mind that I don't claim to know what the composer was thinking or what his intentions were, so any interpretation is as good as mine.
My second favorite theme honestly it is amazing i still believe that the serpents didn’t want to kill each other that ibushi sacrificed himself to stop you
Wasn’t it said that narhwa consuming ibushi or absorbing his energy was actually how they mated? So she was doing that so they could have the children before he died from the hunter.
Music and presentation put together made what was a very basic story with not a lot of depth to it in this game into a beautiful and tragic story of the love between two monsters who were sentient with actual feelings for each other. Really wish we had more to do with the rampage, magnamalo and the twins in this game story wise as well as a better explanation of how exactly the serpents were causing monsters to rampage.
With this series complete, now I'm gonna start exploring some music from other entries in the MH series. Next video will be on a theme from World!

Be aware that most World battle themes have a mount version. Most of them seem to just add bongo's (and who doesn't like bongo's?) but other songs such as "Nay, the honour is ours!" has chanting, or Zinogre's which has a drum kit.
Awesome! Can't wait for more ^^
I'm gonna just throw a guess and say Vaal Hazak.
I gotta say, they grew on me separately, but the allmother fight was beautiful.
@@an3582 AGREED!
Also, i love how they used a bit of MH3 Tri theme on narwa's theme, which as davi says, you can hear through the whole games
it's good for the fans but for me it means that Monster Hunter will now get back to it's roots in a term of symbolism
we're not hunter because we love to kills, we are hunters because we have to balanced the Eco-system and nature
Another example of this is Chaotic Gore Magala. But's it's different, in a way.
In the Japanese text apparently, it says Narwa eating Ibushi is a part of their life cycle. But the way it plays out here is just beautiful
@@MattGallagherComposer for Ibushi
It's so... Human.
Is Fatalis not satient as well?
@@JanusHoW Fatalis is the definition of: "Fuck all y'all, but fuck YOU *_specifically"._*
She has become my 2nd favorite monster of all time
What a great way to describe this fight
Nakarkos, Safi'jiiva, MHW Fatalis and Allmother Narwa, the 4 horsemen of legendary cinematic MH battles
is it bad that i almost wish proof of a hero wasn't in this song? i feel like it's kind of the hunter intruding in this sad moment for narwa
@@VictorGnoato which I mean, we *_literally ARE_* doing EXACTLY that, lmao.
I’ve heard this song a million times by now and the chorus still gives me goosebumps
The Twins singing together was the best idea ever.
And whoever thought about that needs an immediate Prize for how good this is.
This beautiful piece wouldn't be possible without the divine voices of Sato Rina and Ito Shizuka 👌
Wait really?! I love those two VAs! They both voiced some of my favorite Tales characters
@@hideharu-xiii8852 Yeah they're Hinoa and Minoto's seiyuus, respectively.
The fact that Allmother's theme incorporates both key signatures from Ibushi and Narwa's themes (B minor and C minor respectively) is a cool detail.
Oh, I didn't noticed that!
2:02 I always imagine these two in more human forms to properly express the tragedy of the situation
2:02 Ibushi is lying on the ground, fading fast, and Narwa comes and holds him in her arms, lamenting her imminent loss.
2:07 Ibushi motions to Narwa in a sort of “take my blood” kind of way, and Narwa bites into him like a vampire. (3:28)
3:36 Narwa takes Ibushi’s life force, and, overcome by rage and sadness, explodes with incredible power.
And you can really see the mix of Ibushis and Narwas theme, with Hinoa singing as if represing Ibushis soul, his flute is louder and more agressive
(and you can even see that in Narwas movements and attacks in the fight, shes more agressive, faster, doesnt really seem to care when you flinch her,and will atack all scavengers that Ibushis corpse atracts.Like Magnamalo and the other elders)
,been fulled by Ibushis rage, and Narwas instruments blending in and becoming more obvious when Minoto sings, and again they make this "dun dun dun" sound that feels like represents her lightning
And then the chorus kicks in and...Drea God its so beautiful...They mixed everything about them so well.
That’s beautiful, thank you for sharing
This song is one of the few that will consistently make me cry upon listening. Monster Hunter themes have a way of getting to my emotions unlike any other game. The climax to Chameleos' theme ', as an example, will always make me want to jump out of my seat and do something with the energy it gives me. Love these reviews, can't wait to see what you cover next.
My gf and I teared up during this vid. Its so somber and the voices are so beautiful
I absolutely love how both voices harmonize together along with the orchestra. Its just beautiful, what's your favorite part?
Mine is that string part with the two voices going on opposite directions
I find this theme so fascinating. It's so clever how they combine the themes and it just builds up and up into this fully evolved incredible piece. I've really been enjoying these reaction videos! Thank you for doing them!
Thank you for watching, Abigail!
The harmony part of this song gives me chills and goosebumps every single time I hear it. It’s just that beautiful
Same
God I love these videos the amount of detail put into MH is incredible down to ever detail especially the music. I'm so glad there's a channel covering MH music to this extent otherwise it's usually just covers or uploads of the ost but most people wouldn't notice the finer details like those explained here
I'm glad to have you guys to talk about this stuff!
I'm so glad you're enjoying theae videos. Thank you :)
This is probably my favourite story-boss theme. I didn't think anything would top the Ceadeus theme in Tri but wow this one goes all out.
Thanks for the breakdowns and analysis~
I still prefer Ceadeus but dang, Ibushi, Narwa and Allmother themes are up there, definitely. Thisis such an excellent debut for Satoshi Hori.
I love that the translated lyrics almost have a sense of determination about them. Still speaking of ripping apart the sky and earth, stating plainly that their children will be the gods of this world, their paradise, their family, will live, they will make it so.
Oh, I didn't know that about the lyrics. Thank you for sharing.
Hell yes
EDIT: God there's so much you pointed out that I missed when listening to this. So emotional and powerful.
Glad you enjoyed it, friend!
Its like Monster Hunter's version of Romeo and Juliet and i love it
But understandable
Co-ask, need to see that analysis
I'll do it!
I've been waiting so long for this and now it's here
Took me a while :D
Bruh those guys outdid themselfs.. and you managed to capture EVERYTHING.. i am so impressed...
Glad you liked it!
I’m surprised he was able to capture it, this is an Elder Dragon we’re talking about
*ba dum tish*
Jokes aside I agree
Narwa: *kills Ibushi*
Also Narwa: *sad*
He gave his power to her willingly, and it was also the only way to "awaken" the eggs (they glow way brighter and also bluer after the transformation)
I just wanna say thank you for the amazing job on the MH Rise music series, and for the covers album, already my favorite yt channel!
Thank you my friend
On a serious note (music puns-giggity) I would love if you did a Music Analysis on World's Flagship-Nergigante. Specifically the transition from Base World to Arch Tempered.
There's just so much *Western Roman Colossus Might* coming from the Flying Duran that gets me so pumped, and the second version takes it up a notch as the final fight theme of Base World.
Thank you for the suggestion, man. I'm gonna do a bunch of themes from World
I can relate
What makes this theme even more unique is that once the "tide turns" in the battle usually around the time the blue skull appears the MH theme proof of a hero starts playing.
This is one of my favorite themes in all of Rise, arguably all of Monster Hunter because of the part where Ibusbi and Narwa’s themes mix together with one another, I love it when songs do that.
I think allmother's theme starts serene because she actually reproduced, ibushi has already feconded her and she absorbs the last of his power. She is calm and satisfied, but then she feels threatened and builds up in a fight for not only her life but her offspring's life as well
Finally! I was waiting for this one for a while, Davi.
Hope you enjoyed it!
I got spoiled on narwa and ibushi in terms of images circling around the internet which i think was unavoidable when waiting for the PC Release (i don't own a switch) but thankfully i wasn't spoiled on the music so after all that waiting it really felt kind of awarding to come here and Listen to it again with a closer "look"
Love these Videos man keep it going 👍
God damn it. I heard it before during the fight, but this song really hits differently after thinking about the context. Tbh, I'd feel sad for them if they weren't hellbent on killing us.
Yess here it is ! Been waiting for this:D
Hope you enjoyed it, man :)
Monster Hunter music never fails to make me emotional. Definitely my favorite tracks out of any game series I've ever played. Love the content, keep it up!
Thank you my Macaroni friend
This theme is incredible, a masterpiece.

@@DaviVasc você é Brasileiro!? Legal!
Btw if you don't do the mounting punisher at the end the theme doesn't change and you'll hear the Allmother music until the end
On the same way the serpents combined to something greater, their soundtrack became something more powerful to. It's one of the greatest soundtracks i ever heard!
It's a god tier final boss theme for sure
I wish my music lessons looked like that ! Thanks for teaching us the musical ear the way you do, with these epic orchestras ! Love it !
This makes me miss Allmah fight. Glad to see ya made this, this is great :3
Rise hurry up and make a G/Master Rank version of the danger sky noodles ;-;
watch ppl play danger noodles but with low rank armor.
to all the questions you asked "Did you guys notice that?" The answer is "No".
Just great to listen to someone who actually knows. Thank you.
Been waiting for this, thank you! As always, the analysis is on spot and easy to understand.
Thank you :)
I've played Monster Hunter since 4U and BASE Rise has my favorite soundtrack of them all. It's hard to put GenU below it.
For the soundtrack in completely with you. Also amatsus theme would fit perfectly in there
I love to Imagin that as soon as ibushi and narwa where in the same place and you almost killed ibushi he asked narwa to "kill" him and absorb the power of his so they can be one forever and together defeat the hunter.
i love how the term for the narwa theme change is a resolution, because its clearly when she resolves to murder the shit out of you
You're living the dream bro I love your work!
Such a beautiful theme for an amazing ending! I get goose bumps every time listening to it.
*MH Lore: Narwa the Allmother*
"Name: Narwa the Allmother (百竜ノ淵源ナルハタタヒメ)
Title: Thunder God Dragon (雷神龍)/Source of the Rampage
Length: 3875.05cm
Height: 1905.02cm
Order: Elder Dragon
Suborder: Deity Dragon
Family: Unknown
Habitats: Unknown"
"Ibushi and Narwa were ultimately defeated by the "Fierce," and it seemed that the Rampage had finally ended. Ibushi was repelled in the Stronghold (It was assumed that he would eventually die from his injuries), while Narwa fell into a deep crater and presumably died."
"After Narwa was defeated, the Guild sent out scouts to find and recover her body, but she was nowhere to be found..."
"During Kamura's celebration, Ibushi and Narwa once again resonated with Hinoa and Minoto. Wind Serpent Ibushi and Thunder Serpent Narwa were very much alive, and they were ready to destroy the land so they could bring forth the next generation of Storm Serpents."
"Both serpents had retreated for now to recover from their injuries (Ibushi's injuries were more serious), and while they did remain hidden for quite some time, their presence could still be felt across the land by other monsters."
"During this reprieve period, Ibushi and Narwa's activities caused numerous powerful monsters to start appearing (Apex Monsters and Elder Dragons) in the region.
What would happen if those two actually met each other?"
"Ibushi hid somewhere around the Coral Palace after his battle in the Stronghold (He stayed there for quite a while as he recovered from his injuries), and Narwa went there to find him (Chances are Narwa might've been protecting Ibushi during that first fight in the Coral Palace)."
"Ibushi and Narwa had reunited before the Guild could find them, meaning it was only a matter of time before the land was filled with the next generation of Storm Serpents. The Fierce was asked to face off against the duo one more to end the Rampage, once and for all."
"Ibushi and Narwa had mated before anyone could find their current location. While Narwa was hiding in her nest as she prepared to lay her eggs, Ibushi was flying around guarding her and the nest."
"Although Ibushi had time to recover from his injuries, he was still greatly weakened after that battle at the Stronghold (That's why he goes down so easily during the Allmother quest). Ibushi fought through the pain to protect his mate and his unborn offspring, but he was too weak to overcome the Fierce's onslaught."
"After sustaining a large amount of damage from the Fierce, Ibushi fell out of the sky and into Narwa's nest. Ibushi failed to protect his mate and young...
He didn't have enough strength to continue fighting, so he made a tough decision. Seemingly, Ibushi told Narwa to devour him and take his powers, and she did what he asked (Whether he really did that or not is up to interpretation). The two became the one known as "Allmother"."
"Narwa the Allmother is a Variant of Narwa that came to be after Thunder Serpent Narwa devoured Wind Serpent Ibushi.
While Ibushi is the first line of defense against enemies, Narwa is the last line of defense. Ibushi couldn't protect his family from danger, so Narwa sucked out his body fluids and made his power her own. Narwa did this as last ditch effort to protect herself and their offspring (Both serpents just wanted their young, and their young's young, to prosper in the world)."
"Throughout MHRise's story, it was the mating season for Ibushi and Narwa, and both were quite moody during this period, especially Narwa. She was angry when Ibushi was seriously wounded in the Stronghold, and she was furious when the Fierce invaded her nest (She was going to lay her eggs soon, but we interrupted her)."
"Because she was close to laying her eggs, she was more aggressive than usual (Lore wise, that's why Narwa the Allmother attacks more aggressively compared to Thunder Serpent Narwa. She's desperately trying to protect her young)."
"As Narwa absorbs Ibushi's power, her overall coloration will change due to his immense energy combining with her own. Ibushi and Narwa are the Source of the Rampage, and when their powers combine, they become the Allmother (Two become one = a being with the traits of both)."
"Noticeably, the appearance of Narwa's thundersacs changes after she absorbs Ibushi's energy. Like Ibushi, Narwa has windsacs on her body, but those sacs have degenerated over time and have become vestigial at best."
"However, those windsacs became active again after she absorbed Ibushi's energy. Not only can Narwa the Allmother manipulate lightning, but she can also manipulate wind like her mate. Ibushi's energy also greatly boosted her already outstanding electrical abilities."
"The Fierce reported seeing round orbs inside of the thundersac on Narwa the Allmother's abdomen, and those orbs are her eggs. When Narwa is close to laying her eggs, she'll move them to her abdomen (The thundersac on her abdomen doubles as an egg sac)."
"Because her body produces so much electrical energy, the thundersac on her abdomen produces an immense amount of light, making that part transparent. When she devours Ibushi, his energy will explosively activate the eggs (Sparks life within them. His energy influences the eggs)."
"Like Thunder Serpent Narwa, Narwa the Allmother has outstanding electrical abilities, and Ibushi's energy has made those abilities more extraordinary. Because of his energy, Narwa has gained some new powerful attacks, including a few wind-based attacks. Like the standard Thunder Serpent Narwa, Narwa the Allmother's power will gradually increase as she becomes more enraged."
"Narwa the Allmother is the strongest monster in the Kamura Region, standing above all other monsters (Pinnacle of all Life/Apex). She has no equals (Not counting Crimson Glow Valstrax, Apex Diablos, Apex Zinogre, etc.), and no other monster can hope to match her abilities."
"Her abilities are in the realm of legend, making her one of a kind. When Narwa devoured Ibushi and gained his energy, numerous monsters, including other elder dragons, in the surrounding area suddenly headed to her location. Those monsters were either drawn to her immense power or came together to try to kill her and end the Rampage (The monsters are also victims of the Rampage)."
"Some of the monsters that appeared in the Coral Palace include Magnamalo, Kushala Daora, Teostra, and Malzeno. Thus the Rampage had finally come to an end!"
"Her ultramarine and golden yellow scales collide like the sky and lightning. Her horns dominate the dancing gales and earth-splitting thunder. Those who carry one of her horns will be protected from misfortune."
"Within the "Orb of Origin" dances father wind and mother lightning (There was a rumor that this material was Narwa's eggs, but there's nothing that confirms this)."
"Note: Wind Serpent Ibushi, Thunder Serpent Narwa, and Narwa the Allmother were recently discovered, so there are some things still unknown about them."

This theme is gorgeous love it so much
I've been waiting for this! What a beautiful breakdown. As always, I truly appreciate your perspective and how much passion you put into it. I'm SO excited for the other themes you plan on exploring! Namielle maybe? Hopefully? Love that big deep sea friend
Sure, I'll do Nami
Goodjob! I now crave to fight this batte again to listen to the epicness the music is
That's just fuckin gorgeous, thx for your videos xD
Thank you for watching!
Her path now clearly laid in front of her
Holy fuck is this song is a banger
This is simply the best soundtrack in rise😍
I just found your channel, and I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts and realizations on this. Keep on the good content!
I really wan't à cover of this ost, your style + my favorite ost, it's a kind dream lmao
That would be cool!
your interpretation of the first part of the song makes me wonder if Narwa would have finished Ibushi if we, the hunter, hadn't been there to fatally wound him in the first place
Hmm... hard to tell.
Thank you! :)
Thank you, Anne :)
"The tragedy that just happened to her"
Narwa: EATS IBUSHI TO GAIN HIS POWER
"Who could have done something so horrible"
Honestly the beginning of the theme hit me with recollection of the chorus in the Dragonborn theme from Skyrim
And to me at least Ibushis parts all sound or at least seem a little more tense. And they sound like ibushi is at narwas back even though he's gone.
such a good theme
Awesome videos, i feel like i can appreciate these themes way more after watching your videos. Can you do a Xeno'Jiiva and Safi'Jiiva one? i think that would be dope!
Or Gore Magala and Shagaru Magala (+Chaotic Gore Magala)
Yeah, a lot of people have suggested xeno and safi. I'll do it.
@@DaviVasc you’re the best!
Here to boost the algorithm for my man Davi, you deserve it man
Always nice to see my main man Palpatine in the comments
@@DaviVasc i try to be in alll of yours
this song is so beautiful
BEST THEME IN MH RISE
My favorite is Brave Hunters but this is the most powerful and emotional for sure
I love this music, now I understand why and I love it more.
That makes me happy :)
I love allmother narwas theme!
Tho i think narwa is probably pregnant since we see things that look like eggs throw her stomach.
What i see as more likely is:
Ibushi inpregnated Narwa and narwa went to hide inside the Mountain and ibushi started to guard her untill she can give birth.
Love this theme.
Dude, same
Well, ofc ibushi's dead... She ate him! 😂(also at 6:54 it does sounds like she said "Ibushi")
The final part is actually a modified version of both Ibushi and Narwa's themes playing simultaneously. Here is a video with the acapella parts of the original themes played at the same time: ua-cam.com/video/mBeBn_kWd10/v-deo.html&ab_channel=TheNintendoMusicChannel
This is my favorite final boss theme in the series and I can't wait to see how they plan to follow it up in the eventual expansion. Nice video, btw. Can't wait for the next one! :D
Whoa, I didn't notice that!
Please please please to 'to one with life' from tri. its one of the most amazing pieces that just speaks of the beauty and wonder of the monster hunter universe.
I loooove music from Tri. Thank you for suggesting it.
Have you thought in any other soundtracks games to analyze?
I have videos here on the channel talking about other game music like Zelda and Advance Wars
Can't wait for Raging Brachydios Final Phase Battle Theme Review.
can't wait for this masterpiece on pc
Actually Narwa Kills ibushi, sucking his lifeforce out and absorbing his power of controlling storm
So no one wants to mention the transition before the song loops back? The part starting from 9:52 is also one of my favorites!
if you play metroid i'd love to hear your thoughts on some of the tracks. specificlly, Metroid prime 3's space pirate theme, rundas theme, and gendrayda's theme, as well as metroid samus returns metroid queen theme
Sure, I love metroid
One thing I just realised that could be a coincidence but I found it pretty neat; The first letters of the corresponding singer and monster are next to each other in alphabetical order. Like Hinoa/Ibushi, the letter H is right before the letter I in alphabetical order. Same with Minoto/Narwa, M & N.
whoa
Great video. Been watching for a while. I love this theme so much.
Also are you related to Dan Vasc? I didn't even notice you both look the same and have the same last name. I am subbed to both of you and have been for a while and never noticed until now.
He is my brother
6:38 Very interesting take! From your explanation what do you think of the contrasting tensions symbolizing Ibushi's death with the tension reduction and the anger of narwa from the tension increase?
That is a cool interpretation to. Have in mind that I don't claim to know what the composer was thinking or what his intentions were, so any interpretation is as good as mine.
My second favorite theme honestly it is amazing i still believe that the serpents didn’t want to kill each other that ibushi sacrificed himself to stop you
Same. Narwa killing Ibushi never felt like an act of malevolence to me
Davi Vasc: this cord
My brain: discord
Wasn’t it said that narhwa consuming ibushi or absorbing his energy was actually how they mated? So she was doing that so they could have the children before he died from the hunter.
I've heard that, yeah. Sounds like a plausible scenario too.
Hunter: kills Ibushi so he and Narwa can't make babies that will destroy the world.
Narwa: Fine, I'll do it my self.
Music and presentation put together made what was a very basic story with not a lot of depth to it in this game into a beautiful and tragic story of the love between two monsters who were sentient with actual feelings for each other. Really wish we had more to do with the rampage, magnamalo and the twins in this game story wise as well as a better explanation of how exactly the serpents were causing monsters to rampage.
if you haven't, could you react to the oltura theme from monster hunter stories 2? it's insane in my opinion omfg
Sure, I'll do some vids on Stories 2 when I get around to playing the game
