The way he speaks can be sympathetic, but ice cold at the same time. Very intriguing

I don't know. Morgan Freeman's version is amazing to see. I would watch that before making this call. But they're both great.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
    For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
    Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

The poem itself is an absolute masterpiece. Combined with this delivery it's almost unbearable.

Couldn't agree more. His reading of the last few lines and the beat he takes make my eyes water.

So fascinating 👏 in fact mesmerizing 💯🙌 one of my favorite poem, Former stateman Nelson Mandela would recite this poem for us in the youth league. He said it gave him courage whenever he needed it most while imprisoned. The poem is a masterpiece.

The name of the poem is Invictus by William Ernest Henley. I'm not sure which book that is but the poem has been used in many books, movies and speeches.
