I think part of the issue is trying to game-ify something like photography. Like with the PokeFinder in Gen VII. *Bops head to the beat of epic horror music* This is cool! I wish I could be catching Pokémon to this theme! Someone just needs to make a Pokémon Snap fan game already.
This is a specific detail I remember from when I was a kid that I didn’t see mentioned during your video. I specifically remember entering the Pokémon Snap contest using a picture of the 10,000pt Mew as my entry photo (because hey, that was the photo that scored the highest points!). I then remember getting an email (or rather, my father, since I was like 8 at the time), saying something along the lines of “because we got so many of the same entry, we’re going to have an essay contest to determine the true winner.” I don’t know anyone else that got the same email, but I’m positive you’ll find people that remember the same detail of there being an additional essay contest. Lol I wanna say I wrote some terrible fanfic. I was in like second grade.
Fuck yeah, I just wanted to make some that at least someone also remembered that dumb goofy detail. Since I’ve got your attention, keep doing your thing good sir, I love the Action League Now feels.
Pokemon snap could of grown so much. Hal did such an amazing job to the closest we could get to real life pokemon vibes. Having that said they could of easily dropped pokemon snap 2 3 for gamecube wii and into todays consoles.
The horror boss theme reminds me so much of some of the music in Super Mario RPG (Specifically the theme when you get a star after beating a boss). It's great.
Dragooncroft The Wii u died before it was realized. The Wii u had like 6 games at launch and they weren't too good i can say that cuz I was literally the only one in my town to pre order one lol.
If I had to guess on what Pokemon would appear in a horror stage: Gastly, Haunter and the Gengar fight are the obvious Cubone and Marowak with their relationship with death and skeletons Paras, Parasect, Venonat, Venomoth as some creepy bugs that I feel could hide in the dark with glowing eyes Drowzee and Hypno were always disturbing Perhaps Abra, Kadabra and Alakazam had a place here. Something less obvious would perhaps be Clefairy and/or Clefable with their duality with Gengar. If your shadow theory of Pinsir is true, then perhaps Gengar could've appeared from Clefable's shadow.
Pokémon Snap is probably one of the most Nostalgic games for me! I always wanted a Sequel as a kid, so I hope they eventually make one or something like it. For the Horror stage i'm guessing they probably would of had Ghost, Psychic, Poison, and bug Types, Who knows maybe Mewtwo could of been the Boss.
I know this is a year late watching this but I saw a Pokemon snap station sitting outside of someones garage in the middle of nowhere surrounded by farmland. I'd pass the garage at least once a week and it was always out there in the rain or snow and eventually disappeared after it was rusty and sun damaged. It always made me really sad seeing something so valuable go to waste
Sounds like you had about 1000 chances to do the right thing - pull over and steal it. But you took the easy way out. You drove past it. Shame on you. Btw, I saw your avatar. Dr Lava was my best attempt at mixing Solid Snake and Spaceghost. Two of the greats.
I know they're not exactly useful or anything but maaaan, I'd kill to get my hands on one of those Snap Station kiosks someday. Never got to use one way back when, and they're cool!
Junichi Masuda comes on and says they would need to come up with some kind of new invention... Something unexpected. Ah, say no more Mr. Masuda. You already demonstrated that you can't do it
I'll get back to Zelda at some point. I haven't looked to deep into ALttP's cut content, but it's on my list for sure since I played the crap out of that game when I was younger. Cheers A7
They were fun. I was big into Snap when it was in its prime. I read Japan had kiosks similar to what we got in the form of Snap Stations, I think they were at Watson's? I may be remembering the name of the store chain wrong.
Someday. I love Pikmin but unfortunately their cut content isn't the MOST riveting. There's some interesting stuff but I haven't found the gold mine yet. I beat Pikmin 1 literally about 100 times. About 85 of those runs were in 9 days. About 5 of them were sooo close to an 8 day run.
I kinda jumped the gun promising it for "next week" after the Mario 64 episode. Afterwards, while writing the script I realized that not only is the only footage available basically a shaky 360p handheld VHS tape recording, but the developer quotes regarding 128 are so self-contradictory that it would be difficult to form a coherent video. And there's a Miyamoto interview in a 2003 issue of Japanese Playboy magazine that I've still been unable to track down. I found one from 2004 he did in Playboy, but not the one where he mentions 128 from 2003. So I kinda decided I'll wait till the channel is big enough that I can get an interview with someone from the dev team so I can ask some questions of my own. It'd be nice if they could slip me a better quality video of the tech demo too, but that's probably a pipe dream. Cheers Henry.
Imagine a horror stage in the new one with Darkrai at the end. Maybe you fall asleep in the vehicle unless you've gotten the Lunar Wing from a Cresselia at some point.
Man, Junichi Masuda kinda irritates me. I'm pretty sure that it's probably taken out of context, and I'm reading into it incorrectly but all I could take from the interview about Pokemon Snap 2 was passing the buck to Nintendo, and not wanting to put in the work of actually coming up with the ideas or concepts that would be at play, while having perfectly suitable hardware available in both handheld (3ds gyroscopic sensors, external camera and AR capabilities) and home console (Wii U gamepad, and now Labo, seem built for this) formats. And that's not talking about the other interviews about cut features (no battle frontier because of the kids these days and their smartphones) and the uhhh... general direction pokemon has taken with him at the helm. I'm sure personally he's probably a nice guy (I'm not qualified to say otherwise, I've never met him personally) but professionally he frustrates me, it's like he doesn't actually want to work towards making good and/or cool/interesting video games. inb4 i'm entitled and/or not a *real* fan because i have problems with the product and its creation, and/or just need to understand gamedev is hard (trust me, I know) especially for this smol indie team
it makes sense if you look at pokemon stadium 1/2, the 3D models have a limited amount of animation, whereas pokemon snap had to deal with environmental animations and the rail graphics in addition to unique animations and parameter checking, the amount of data needed to encompass all of that while running off of a 64 bit processor would have made for a real tough job for the N64
That ghost theme sounds very good. Maybe the Sword and Shield version will have a camera in thrm, just like the USUM games have. I liked it to collect all these points to get an extra stamp in my passport.
i dont honestly think pokemon snap needs something that was never seen before. just more pokemon, more open end levels and you not being on rails anymore like many of the post-n64 games. maybe they can also add some elements from gen7s cameraminigame, but not much morr
If you're driving Pokemon Go is like Pokemon Snap 2 just with a much higher difficulty since the Zero-One is no longer in game and various other obstacles
Dr Lava, your videos are fantastic. I've seen so many "did you know", "beta this" videos that repeat the same info over and over. Your videos are always chock full of things I've literally never heard. Good stuff, keep it up.

Paras, Parasect, Venonat, Venomoth as some creepy bugs that I feel could hide in the dark with glowing eyes
Drowzee and Hypno were always disturbing
Perhaps Abra, Kadabra and Alakazam had a place here.
Why don't you make videos anymore? I loved the Kanto-cut videos :)
A horror stage would have been AWESOME for Pokémon Snap! I hope there is a horror stage in the new one.
Oh yes new video!
Masuda. You already demonstrated that you can't do it
Great video
Cheers mate :)
Can you do A LINK TO THE PAST Cut Content please please!
I'll get back to Zelda at some point. I haven't looked to deep into ALttP's cut content, but it's on my list for sure since I played the crap out of that game when I was younger.
Cheers A7
@@DJIVision awesome sauce looking forward to it. ALTTP is my fav zelda game of all time.
I'd love to have a pokemon snap station. They even had them here in Canada. Having to deal with the paper and ink might be to much though
My local game store bought one of those snap stations.
Oh, I would have loved a night /ghost area and a safari area. I loved this game so much back in the day.
The Snap stations sound like a really nice idea!
They were fun. I was big into Snap when it was in its prime. I read Japan had kiosks similar to what we got in the form of Snap Stations, I think they were at Watson's? I may be remembering the name of the store chain wrong.
Sweet! It's finally here!!! 👍 👌
It's nice they are currently making a sequel.
The background music is.. Wario Land 4.. but like in a minor key?
...Why is it always Junichi Masuda that gets in the way of cool things?
DR LAVA I HEAR THE PIKMIN JAMS, are ya gonna do that series in the future?
Someday. I love Pikmin but unfortunately their cut content isn't the MOST riveting. There's some interesting stuff but I haven't found the gold mine yet.
I beat Pikmin 1 literally about 100 times. About 85 of those runs were in 9 days. About 5 of them were sooo close to an 8 day run.
it's now 2021 and now we have "new pokemon snap", this is starting to be a good year
There is still one of those pokemon snap kiosks in the children's hospital where i live
Lucky little brats
Sequal’s happening!
That Mario 128 video still in the works?
COME BACK DR LAVA
Man Iv always wondered why there wasint all 151 pokemon in the game
it makes sense if you look at pokemon stadium 1/2, the 3D models have a limited amount of animation, whereas pokemon snap had to deal with environmental animations and the rail graphics in addition to unique animations and parameter checking, the amount of data needed to encompass all of that while running off of a 64 bit processor would have made for a real tough job for the N64
Is this a re-upload? I feel like I’ve seen this before, but slightly different.
The last part about a sequel was uploaded a few weeks ago as a standalone 2 minute video, but it was slightly different.
@@DJIVision ah okay thank you. i was making sure i wasnt a time traveler
I don't know your situation, so I can't speak to the time traveler thing. But the sequel segment was already posted.
@@DJIVision its a pain in the butt trying to figure out which historical events have and havent happened yet without disturbing the timeline
Bearenstein bears is spelled "Bearenstain" in this timeline and Nelson Mandela didn't die in jail. Don't know if that helps clear things up at all.
There’s a video game store near me that has a working Snap station, so that’s pretty cool.
I played the block buster kiosk when I was about 5 years old, never knew you could bring your cart and print out the pictures s
That ghost theme sounds very good.
Maybe the Sword and Shield version will have a camera in thrm, just like the USUM games have. I liked it to collect all these points to get an extra stamp in my passport.
I'd kill for a sequel
What’s up with the melting bluegrass music in the background ?
Which track do you mean? The first track was from Pikmin, the rest was all directly from Pokemon Snap.
i dont honestly think pokemon snap needs something that was never seen before. just more pokemon, more open end levels and you not being on rails anymore like many of the post-n64 games. maybe they can also add some elements from gen7s cameraminigame, but not much morr
Until
Now with new Pokémon snap
Literally playin it right now dawg. This very second. Just totally pwned Grookey.
Wonderful
If you're driving Pokemon Go is like Pokemon Snap 2 just with a much higher difficulty since the Zero-One is no longer in game and various other obstacles
