- I'm making this for the amazing teenage mutant ninja turtles community and because I love the Turtles!
The last ronin is set in a future New York City where a lone surviving Turtle sets out on a seemingly hopeless mission to obtain justice for his dead family and friends. It's a comic book series written by the original creators of the teenage mutant ninja turtles, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird who are joined by writer Tom Waltz. I have been working a few month now, making one scene of that comic book series into an animation.
We are thrilled to have a platform such as UA-cam so we can honor all people who have worked with the TMNT. The teenage mutant ninja turtles rocks!

I would love to see a tie-in that you could do with the release of the game. Now that the game is coming out, there needs to be a recognition for your work for providing the world a taste of what a team of people who love the source material and shows it in their work. I can definitely see a film being made. I know that's one I would purchase and want in my personal collection. As Al Pacino said in The Recruit, "I'm a scary judge of talent."
Seeing Mikey going from the joking, chill, and goofy in the group to be most brooding and depressing one is tragic. All of his innocence destroyed.
I guess losing one's family can do that to even the most lighthearted of individuals 😔

His story arc ended up being the most dramatic. MAJOR SPOILER: If you haven't read The Last Ronin. Mikey tries committing Seppuku because he was humiliated over his cowardice.
So he basically turned into Raph
"I miss my brothers...so much." That really hit me hard. Superb voice acting and animation.
Yea it really showed how broken he was.

Mike is the youngest and was always the most talented of the turtles and his brothers always put themselves before him to make sure Mike was safe and now he's alone surrounded by enemies 😢

I felt that....I am amazed how he survived for many years without them
For some people who don't know, Michaelangelo was always the MOST naturally gifted Turtle. Splinter knew this and that's why he gave him the Nunchaku, the hardest weapon to master of all the other Turtles, to balance out his eagerness, comedic antics and overconfidence. Michaelangelo was never a leader or the strongest or most disciplined Turtle, but the most skillful. Of course, he would lose to Leonardo because Leo takes a fight serious and uses a lot of fight IQ to which Mikey is just more brash because of how he is. When you notice how when he fights he does so with absolute ease that he Adds his playful antics and clownish demeanor into his fighting because he just Can. He does things with his weapons that no other Turtle can do with theirs and does so very naturally even though you see how the other Turtles constantly train more than Mikey who just plays around. This is why when Mikey lost everything he became the most powerful Turtle. His happiness and everyone he loved was taken away. He had nothing left But to be serious and vengeful.

If you grew up on the turtles and didn’t get hit in the chest by this you aren’t human. I’ve watched this countless times. Extremely well done.
It hits even harder if u watched the 2012 version, they felt more like a loving family there than any other. It hits so hard, especially Mikey, the little brother of the group

It's such a raw vulnerable moment. When we lose people of course we miss them but saying it aloud makes it even sadder because it shows how much you want them back but never will.

The 2012 series on Nickelodeon was great at adapting several different Turtle's stories into it's cannon.
The Last Ronin is a really sad story honestly. It takes the happiest and most care free turtle of the four and has him become the only remaining survivor after a brutal loss. He ends up the most serious and straightforward turtle. The Last Ronin deserves a good film especially for such a huge point in the TMNT Multiverse. Mikey becoming the most serious turtle is a true sign that dark times have come.
Cap. It’s just the writer who decides who wins its ain’t nothing else. And honestly you could make the last ronin any one of the turtles. Donnie relys on his tech too much and not himself, his brothers die and become one with the mountain. If Raph is the last one, his anger clouds his judgement he either loses it when his brothers get killed or his anger is the reason his brothers died and he has to go through tribulations and deal with the anger. And my personal opinion, it should have been Leo. He deals with that fear CONSTANTLY, losing his brothers, leading them into their deaths, if he can’t make the right choices or they leave. And Leo being the warrior, the ninja, the leader, it makes him most likely to become the most powerful being in that universe.
@@Young_Ronin Issue with that is Leo is too obvious to be the ronin and his character would change the least. Main reason why Michelangelo was chosen was that his change would be the most drastic and 100% in character, since she is the most laid back and empathetic one

It’s set up for the creative ones to be alienated. There is a lack of diversified ideas….
Movies are like anything else that makes money. Politics is a good example. It's filled with corruption agendas virtue signaling people one uping each other. So if they have to make a good movie they will but if they can give it the bare minimum and throw in their beliefs politics and agendas and still make money they'll go with that. If you ever go to Hollywood youll realize what I'm saying isn't a surprise those people are fcked in the head.

@Don Julio To tell you the truth, I've never seen or read The Last Ronin but from what I understood, it was Michael Angelo as the last Turtle as opposed to Leonardo. Leonardo trained his whole life for that role whereas Michael Angelo, the party guy, was thrust into it. That's what makes the story more impactful.

This animation was fantastic, loved every last minute and even second of it!!
This didn't even feel fan made, It felt real. Left me in tears and very depressed (in a good way) Wishing this was a movie or show. I would've love to see the one and only surviving turtle trying to survive at his breaking point.

It's breathtaking how realistic this looks! The voice acting is incredibly well executed, character designs/models are appealing and realistic but not so much where it's a walking nightmare. Location is omnibus and gloomy, making it feel tragic. And the dark tone of the setting over the build up of emotion from the Last Ronin, where he can hear his brothers in his head makes it feel so earned. Honour is also a very present and accruing theme and that's something that the turtles should be known for. Even when it comes down to taking one's own life. Better to die by your own blade than by the hands of your enemy.
I mean it really isn't, but who am I to judge the methods of ninjutsu. I've never done it.
And I agree with everyone else in the comments saying that this should be a full on blockbuster movie. A movie length film like this would be a god blessing for both the turtles, the world and us humans. But it's still perfect as it is with it's short length. Well done! 😌👌

This came as one helluva surprise when I found out that instead of Leonardo or Raphael being the lone survivor and vengeance driven turtle, they chose Michelangelo. It was hard to read this comic knowing it was my favorite turtle that ended up taking this dark and terrible road but at the same time I understood and respected him even more.
I agree Mikey was my favorite turtle to I read the co.ic and it made me literally cry when Mikey dies in the end I could just here this sad orchestra playing in my head as he dies like I said they need to make a FREAKING MOVIE OF TMNT THE LAST RONIN!!!! AHK !!! I NEED IT IN MY LIFE!!

he is my favourite turtle as well so when i was reading it it hit me so hard bro. mikey being the goofball and clumsy one to become more serious than leo and raph was really sad. he doesnt deserve it. the wurst part was when he was lying on the floor dead. sad

I still can't wrap my head around the idea that that's Mikey, he's so sad it almost brings me to tears. I grew up with the Turtles... never crossed my mind that they might die someday...
Everyone says it's Mikey because it's based on the comic in which he was the lone survivor, but not all comic based movies follow the comics exactly and I don't see why Mikey would be wearing a purple headband/mask. I'm not sure it's Mikey 🤷♂️.

@MrSeekz-rp3su it's black, and read the comic it's literally Mikey. Raph, Leo, donny, Casey, and splinter all died in the comic, roughly all around the same time. Also the dialogue is a 1 to 1 with the comic

I'll buy the franchise from Nickelodeon and give it a new life...no more bs, no more dumb movies...a real life action show a la Netflix Daredevil, dark and full of emotion, a kids friendly show, a whole new revival of the franchise exploring different characters backstory and so on...there is so much material to just let them stay on comics

When he said how much he missed his brothers and master splinter, and he started to plunge Leo's broken katana in his chest my heart couldn't take it. My eyes welled up and in my mind I said " NO MIKEY!" This was/is amazing, thank you and looking forward to more
And before he almost off'd himself april and her daughter came in saved mikey from his misery
I think he had enough fighting since it's all up to him. He tried to kill himself to see his brothers and father, but April and Casey saved him for one last fight
Leo is trying to reason with him in the beginning, "you don't have to do this" as he snarled back at the voice in his head, I felt that.
the body language when he says “i miss my brothers, so much” is so real. deep inside he’s a broken man who lost a lot of himself and those he loved. this work is beautiful

Yeah, the reason why Mikey isn't cracking jokes or even smoking was his family (Master Splinter, Leo, Raph & Donnie) & friend Casey Jones have died at the hands of the Foot Clan led by Karai's son & Shredder's grandson Oroku Hiroto & even Baxter Stockman. Raph died fighting Karai in his rage, Leo & Casey Jones died at the hands of Baxter Stockman & even Master Splinter & Donnie have died at the hands of the Foot clan & their new leader, Oroku Hiroto. But Mikey, April O'Neil & Professor Honeycutt have survived the onslaught. April gives birth to her & Casey's daughter Casey Marie Jones while Mikey became the last ronin who begins his mission to seek justice for his dead family & friend. Also, for honor.

I thinks it’s actually extremely smart of the writers to make Mikey the last survivor since it gives him far more character development than the others for sure. I mean he’s the least experienced and the least powered up of all the turtles and has the most to loose emotionally. The others always had some edge to them already present. Also it sets him up to be a crazy forerunner to the turtles considering he is the last one he can surpass them greatly now

Mikey wasn't the least experienced of all the turtles, he was just more laid back in terms of training. Splinter giving him nun-chucks proves he was very talented and well-trained, as those weapons are harder to master. His fun, party dude attitude made him more chill than his brothers, plus as the youngest of the turtles, he always had their protection, but only now, alone, does he show how much he's grown.
I think in on iteration master splinter said that mikey has the most raw talent but is held back by his laid back attitude.
If he was more focused splinter always said he could be the best he always had potential for it. He's pretty effortless in wielding his chucks too and they're the more difficult of all four weapons to master
Everything about this is perfect. The echoes of the empty sewer, Mikey's facial expressions and his broken voice, the music kicking in when you see the weapons of his dead brothers laid out on the floor. You can just feel his pain and isolation. And then there's the beautiful animation. Incredible atmosphere and textures. It's so cool to see the comic book artwork brought to life so faithfully with such hyperrealism. If there were ever to be a new TMNT series or movie, THIS is how it should be done.

@@J33p3rzz2crxzy yes, that animation is based on "the last ronin" comics, basically telling the story of "what if every ninja turtle and their father died besides Mickey, it's technically a reveal in the story but it's obvious from the beginning since it makes me sense regarding story telling (aka the "younger" / funny one has to revenge his brothers and for that need to loose Innocence, makes it more emotional and deep) I'm not a big ninja turtle fan but honestly those comics were golden
This is beyond amazing. The detail is mind-blowing and the voice acting is great too. Just like everyone else, I'd love to see this become a feature-length movie. Thanks for making it : )

Its so cool on how you see the silhouettes of the dead turtles without masks on, but by hearing their voices we already can tell whose who. It truly shows how we grew up to recognize each member and i believe there is NO favorite turtle, As an adult i love them all for their different qualities and personalities
I can't stop crying. Mikey has always been my favorite. To see him broken from hardship and tragedy, it hurts so much. To watch him lose everything... I can't imagine the agony of losing any of my siblings let alone all of them. God, poor Mikey..

This really hit hard. A lot of your childhood shows coming to an end seems like a personal chapter of your own life being closed, which as dramatic as it sounds, you invest emotions and thought into these things at a young age, so it inevitably, for some people at least, makes you feel emotional when it ends. Luckily for tmnt, we have this animation to really hit us where it hurts as a pretty cool send off to the show. You really killed it with this one, bro👍

It’s not a send off to the show, it’s actually an animated adaptation of the first couple pages of the first issue of the new comic series TMNT last ronin. It’s incredibly good, I actually got the exact same goosebumps and heart wrenching feelings from reading the comics that this short gave me. It’s worth reading, still isn’t finished either only on the 4th issue

I just found out about this story a few weeks back and now I see this. Absolutely awesome work here, definitely wish we could have the whole story animated like this.

I think many of us watching this grew up with the turtles. Now we are older, like him, and things have changed. And like him, we have lost. So we feel his pain.
As the youngest of my immediate family I connected with Mikey in a way I never thought I would before. As the baby the elder people of your group feel the need to guard you and protect you and a part of you becomes so used to that protection. It's one of the reason Mikey was the good ball. His brothers always had his back

This was very well constructed and gave the awesome feel of that scene in the first issue of The Last Ronin. It's hard to see my favorite of the Ninja Turtles be so cold and unlike his cheerful, goofy prankster self. Mikey was always so happy and quick to crack a joke, often at Raph's expense. To see Leo, Raph and Donnie's chief weapons laying in front of Mikey, alongside his nunchucks, then to see Mikey use one of Leo's shattered swords to commit suicide is tragic.

I grew up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The greatest complement I can give is This Is Art. This is evolution of a character. I hope beyond hope that we see more from this creative team. This should be taught in film school, how to construct a dramatic scene. This Is Art…This is beautiful.
