Tried one, went back out and picked up 12 more bottles. Some to drink sooner than later, some to age for a year or two. Absolutely fantastic brew, and my hat's off to Goose Island. Just be careful, this stuff can get you wasted before you know it. A beer that doesn't quite taste as strong as it is! Great review of a great beer. I really think the Americans are creating some of the best beers these days. Give me a choice between this one and a fine Belgian quad, and I'll have to think about it.
Oh yeah, you gotta be careful with these ones. I too like buying multiples of these to drink at different times. And thanks, now I want a Belgian Quad haha. Cheers!
I loved this one this year.....I haven't had the past 3 years. I didn't pick up on the caramel/ toffee..... the raisin you got I think came off a bit like tobacco leaf to me. I got prune out of this and the vanilla hit right in between all of that. The Alcohol was noticeable from the get go.....I was drinking it at 72f though Cheers Kyle
Temperature can definitely impact the flavors. Good call. I also had been drinking a lot of boozy beers before that, so the booze was not that noticeable to be. Cheers! Hope you are well.
I picked up a few of these today and am excited to try it! A good bourbon stout is one of my favorite types of beer. I recently tried the 2020 #4 and it did not disappoint. Thanks for the great review!
Oh, you're going to be buying bottles of this, Kyle? I'M SO SURPRISED! LOL! Yeah, it sounds like it's damn good. I'm excited to actually go hunting for some bottles this year after the issues I've had since around this time last year. I hope I can snag a few variants. We'll see. I'll definitely buy a bottle or two of the base. Fantastic review, like always. Cheers, buddy!
It's interesting seeing how craft beers have evolved in terms of flavors and the growth. Maybe there are way too many now? I picked the whole variant set today and it was easy. Also, they had over fifty of the original stout just sitting. It's amazing see them like that when 5 years ago people lined up early Black Friday just to get one.
Very nice review!!! I'am getting 2020 and 2021 in a few days.. Very excited. May I ask how much you pay for these normaly.. I payed $60 bucks for both. These are expensive overhere in Europe The Netherlands.
I have two of these, but I am from the UK and they cost £20 (roughly $27)each. I am looking forward to trying mine. How much do they retail for your side of the pond? Keep up the awesome reviews.
Glad you were able to score some there! My local stores are selling it for $13.99 but I have seen that they should be sold at $10.99. Thanks for the kind words!
Chris win Prop day to get it early? or he have another "in"? :) Looking forward to this year's release. I didn't win Prop day, or Binny's lottery, or even the Jewel lottery so I will be on the hunt for those varieties!
I recently bought one of these but haven’t drank it yet. Is it worth letting it sit for more time or just drink it now? Local liquor store has a few of these 2021’s so I can get more.
@@NoHypeBeerReviews just had this beer, I'm buzzing real good and the more it opens up and warms up, the more the bourbon takes over, wasn't getting any other flavor. But definitely a 100% beer.
Had last years coffee maple variant of Friday, I was pretty disappointed how it aged. Seemed very thin for BC and drank like cola. Wasn’t green pepper but, was very underwhelming. #bringbackBW22!
Just wondering have any of you had dragons milk because its much better at half cost. I run a beer shop and this was a huge disappointment. It tastes like a grape tootsie pop dipped in melted raisinettes drizzled with stewed plums its ridiculously sweet and syrupy took 2 days to get taste out of mouth it drinks like barley wine. If you listen to his description most tasting notes are all on sweet side. One of the worst beers ive drank.
Stewed plums is such a good tasting note for this year’s Bourbon County! I definitely like sweet things, so this is a beer that is in my wheelhouse. Dragon’s Milk is also very good and has some overlap. Really depends on a person’s preference and what they like/are in the mood for. Cheers!
One of my favorite beers 🍻 looking forward to black Friday when I can buy some in Northern California..
It is top 5 for me. I totally get it. Cheers!
I got my hands on one of these too, it was ridiculously drinkable. Definitely, a solid addition to the BC line. Great review.
Good call! Lots of flavor but easy to drink.
Man - I am stoked about this year's release! I always love how nuanced these brews are.
So much flavor and so many things going on for sure. Good call. Cheers!

Just enjoying my first 2021 and damn !!!!! Great beer for sure 🍺
You got that right! I just reviewed the cola one for Tuesday! Cheers!
I’m very curious 🥳👍🏼👍🏼. Great review dude
You are too kind!
Looking forward to it. I normally age them at least a year. Last year was really smooth compared to years past. Happy Black Friday y'all!
I do like them fresh but agree that waiting a year is worth it!
@@NoHypeBeerReviews Till last year they were too hot out of the bottle for me.
Terrific review. This really helps. I will try to get several bottles of this. Cheers!
Glad to hear it! I hate recommending how people spend their money but I will be grabbing more bottles too! Cheers!

It has gotten so much easier to get variants, which is awesome! The regular seems to sit for a while now too. I totally get it. Cheers!
Stoked to try this and any variants I can find. Great job on the review as always.
I hope to get some variants too. Happy hunting!
I’ll tell y’all to buy a case since this beer ages well and it’s less than 12 bucks a bottle in my area. Glad you liked it👍🏻
Haha you heard it here, folks! Thanks again!
Who is this Chris you speak of and how do we meet him? Lol Awesome review and good to hear you think 21 is again a great base for BCS! Cheers!
Hahaha
I bought two bottles at Costco’s. They had a two bottle max per day. They sold 2000 bottles in one day. Amazing stout.
Oh wow! That is crazy. I bet the price was lower than what I paid too!
@@NoHypeBeerReviews $10,99 a bottle
They only had like the original bourbon barrel flavor they didn’t have all the different variants of it
That is $3 less!

That is awesome! Enjoy! They are around $14 here in the states.
@@NoHypeBeerReviews $14 buck?!?!?!?! My goodness. Can you ship me a couple of thousand when the 2022 wil be released 😀😀 We can make a fortune
@@OneOfTheRobs haha
I vote for you doing either a side by side, or one day after the other, with your oldest vintage and 2021 when it comes out
That is a really cool idea!

Blimey, so cheap. It's so hard to get quality US beers over here, I have been on a waiting list for a Speedway Stout for over 18 months!!!

He had another in haha. I might be out of town for Black Friday so I don't even know if I can go out on the hunt! Good luck haha

I love them with a year or so on them, so I say drink up!
Great review!
Thank you! I really appreciate that. Cheers!
still not available in the netherlands.....dying to get some!!
Lame!
Was able to get this the cherry wood the special 14 and cola today.
Nice! The 14 wasn’t released around me but I was able to get others.
I have one that was refrigerated. Should I leave it out and drink room temp? How long should I let it sit before drinking?
I would let it sit for like 15 minutes first, pour it, and then let it warm in the glass as you sip. That is how I like doing it. Cheers!
I have 1 of these and I'm having it sunday, do u taste the bourbon?
I think that it comes through well. Just enough for me. Let me know !
@@NoHypeBeerReviews just had this beer, I'm buzzing real good and the more it opens up and warms up, the more the bourbon takes over, wasn't getting any other flavor. But definitely a 100% beer.
Do you drink all your beers at room temp?
No, just some of my bigger beers like this one. It is also my cellar so around 60 degrees and a lot of stouts are "ideal" around 55.
How does this beer age? Whens a great time to drink this?
For me one year does amazing things to this beer. Helps round out any harsh edges.

Nooooo! That really bums me out to hear. I have one bottle left. Grr
@@NoHypeBeerReviews I had my last bottle the other day and can confirm it did not age great.

This vs deth tar which you prefer ?
I think I am finally ready to admit Deth Star is better. That being said, I can only get this around me, so maybe BC is better haha
ISO for one to CHUG!
Ugh haha
You said drink by 2016..........lol
I screwed up last year's bottle dates too. At least I am consistent haha
@@NoHypeBeerReviews Lol, its cool. I thought you were mix up the two bottles and put the 2021 back on the shelf, lol
So I’m getting 2021 isn’t nearly as good as 2020…
I might have preferred 2020 a little more. I'd have to rewatch my review haha
