This is a great video and I love your friend's perspective as a non-fan. I had a boyhood crush on Romana II when those episodes first showed up on PBS in the US. However we were always behind the UK a few years, so Peter Davison was already the Doctor when I saw those episodes for the first time. She was a quirky female version of the Doctor, and you can tell where the off screen romance started between Lalla and Tom in their episodes together.
Finally the video we have been waiting for! Romana serves the most looks out of any Companion. Also, your co-host was really fun, I would love to see you showing her some episodes and seeing what she thinks of the show, outside the fashion context.
@@JoshSnares Maybe the way FilmJoy does it in their Deep Dives? Break and discuss partway through the story a couple of times, as well as before and after?
My favorite Romana outfits: 1. Fox Hunter from Horns of the Nimon 2. Edwardian Suit from State of Decay 3. Chinese Peasant from Warriors Gate 4. Eastern European dress and skirt from Full circle 5. Pink Parody of the Doctor Destiney of the Daleks
Lalla's Horns of Nimon outfit is one of my favourite costumes I've seen on screen ever. It's such a shame it had to be in Horns of Nimon. I would love to see more of these kinds of videos.
I ADORE this video. It's such a fun topic that I don't specifically hear talked about within this fandom that is so incredibly fun! If you do more, I would love a Sarah Jane Smith throughout her time on this show. I would also love to see Peri as she has such a unique fun style. But also I would watch this series with any companion because you adn your co host are just so fun
You need to do this for every female companion in the classic show i swear. I'm riveted. Delighted. I need more. Your best work honestly, Karate nun could never
I'm going to pick a favourite outfit from Romana I and II. My favourite outfit of Romana I is the white gown from The Ribos Operation and The Armageddon Factor and my favourite outfit of Romana II is the light pink jacket with The dark pink piping and The white scarf from Destiny of The Daleks.
Except for a few episodes Nyssa worse the Same Traken outfit. The joke was that Lalla Ward bankrupted the wardrobe budget which is why Waterhouse, Sutton and fielding did not have different clothes the first season of the 5th Doctor.
I love the Ribos Operation outfit- so gorgeous and glamorous. Also I like the Creature in the Pit outfit and agree it would have fit with Romana 1 better
Totally fun and charming video! I could watch you guys at it for hours. Great stuff. So many funny bits in your editing. Love it. I hope you bring Jemma back for more videos and take on Sarah Jane, Jo, Zoe or Liz
Another amazing video, enjoyed every minute as always. Would love to see a series of videos where you and Jemma rate the attire of different companions and Doctors from both classic and new but if you don't follow up the I'm very glad you made this one as Romana's one of my favorite companions and she has some of the best outfits in the show (my personal favorites: her looks in The Ribos Operation, The Androids of Tara, City of Death, The Horns of Nimon and State of Decay) Keep up the great work! :)
The trousers Lala is wearing are a Georgian breech, so they’re a 3/4 length to present a sock. Tom wears a longer version showing his argyle socks when wearing brogues. This is oxbridge knowledge
Thanks Josh for a video that made me laugh out loud. I love that Doctor Who fandom has so many takes on aspects of the show that would never occur to me.
7:47 Mary Tamm looked like a purple cowgirl in Androids of Tara. Ironic cos Doctor Who was influenced by the Western genre. 19:33 Lalla Ward looked stunningly beautiful in that dress in Creature from the Pit.
yes, this is the sort of content I need, there's not enough discourse on companion fashion choices, I have a lot of enthusiasm for that topic. And even though my favourite R1 and R2 outfits got cold to mixed reactions - I love the Stones of Blood ep2-4 look and the Full circle one, bottom and top, is gorgeous - I still had a lot of fun watching this.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Doctor Who fashion finally someone is talking about it. And for that someone to be Joshua F. Snares! Would love to see more of these with you two
Romana II's last outfit reminded me of her coming from doing that Russian dance like there is some untold adventure when they come across some Russians in E-Space and Romana did the dance with them at the end before hoping into the TARDIS with the doctor and Adric
"Androids of Tara" was my introduction to Doctor Who, so there's a bit of nostalgia mixed in when I think about Romana I's costume in that story. It's still one of my favorites (the costume and the story). As for Romana II... while I like her costume from "Horns of Nimon", I think the one that best suited her was what she wore in "City of Death". Very Madeline, cute and smug yet so relatable. I hope you'll turn this into a series about the fashion/costuming of Doctor Who; this was fun.
Would love to see this as a series covering other companions like Zoe, Jo, Peri and even Amy and Clara
This is gonna be an eternal hell if you ever choose to do it with every Doctor
Purely based on onscreen outfit's, 6th Doctor will comfortably sit at the bottom of the pile forever at this point. That terrible coat.
@@pious83 I kind of love that costume, but the Terror of the Vervoids look goes a bit too far even for me...
@@jokkemursula8731 Yep. That’s peak JNT abomination right there. It’s such a shame the Big Finish blue outfit never made it onscreen with him.
@@pious83 aww I love the coat
Do it
"Is it silly or is it incredible.? I think it's a mix of both..." The entire world of Doctor Who perfectly summed up! 👍😚
Exactly this!
Please do Sarah Jane Smith next, time monster to hand of fear ❤
Speaking as one of your straight fans, I was hoping this series would continue! I know what it's like though. I still enjoy the heck out of this
This is a great video and I love your friend's perspective as a non-fan.

Absolutely love this, if you decided to do this with the modern series I think Clara would be the best choice, she has some incredible outfits.
I definitely have Clara in mind!
@@JoshSnares Nice! Looking forward to it
I'd go for Clara vs Rose
Did you see the fashion shoot she and Matt SMith did for Variety magazine. They look incredible - truly incredibly stylish. Just like Josh!
I've always joked that the reason City Of Death is the most viewed Doctor Who story ever is due to Romana's outfit.
If you ever do a fashion review on the Third Doctor’s outfits…all those outfits better be highly rated.
This was a really neat and great video!
As a Pertwee fan I must agree
They’re all a 10/10
@@JoshSnares The correct opinion
@@JoshSnares agree

it's true!!
i've been thinking about that!! just hard to get around BBC copyright claims, so trying to brainstorm the best way of doing it!
@@JoshSnares Maybe the way FilmJoy does it in their Deep Dives? Break and discuss partway through the story a couple of times, as well as before and after?

definitely need more doctor who fashion review!!! with you and jemma
burst out laughing when the third doctor appeared at "what year is this?!" I could almost hear him
I want to see one of these videos about Nyssa, if for no other reason to hear them talk about her iconic noble Traken outfit.
need more of this 😭
This was so fun. I'd love to see episodes on Jo Grant and Sarah Jane Smith... and probably Clara for Revival. This should definitely be a series! :)
Certainly Sarah Jane and her famous Andy pandy suit in the hand of fear
I think I rarely appreciate costumes while watching stories. So this video was a great opportunity to change it. Good work! Please do more!
I really love this Fashion review on Doctor Who. Hope this is a continuing series.
Lalla's Horns of Nimon outfit is one of my favourite costumes I've seen on screen ever. It's such a shame it had to be in Horns of Nimon.
I would love to see more of these kinds of videos.
I fucking love how glamorous or creative both Romana's outfits were!
RIP Mary Tamm (1950 - 2012).
We need more fashion reviews!
Loved this video I never noticed before so many outfits she wore
more...
MORE DOCTOR WHO FASHION VIDEOS!!!!!!!
we have more planned if people like this one :) youtube analytics says im in my flop era lol

2:54 THE CUT TO LOOMS KILLED ME DKSHKSJDKD
Still my favourite video on the channel, would love to see more of this one day!
the conclusion I got from this video is that Romana always serves and she should come back to dw to serve more
You need to do this for every female companion in the classic show i swear. I'm riveted. Delighted. I need more. Your best work honestly, Karate nun could never
Josh looks like he's cosplaying as Young Garth Marenghi.
Would love more of these.
Really enjoyed this and it was a refreshing look at the show that hasn’t been done loads of times. Would happily watch more covering other companions.
I'm going to pick a favourite outfit from Romana I and II. My favourite outfit of Romana I is the white gown from The Ribos Operation and The Armageddon Factor and my favourite outfit of Romana II is the light pink jacket with The dark pink piping and The white scarf from Destiny of The Daleks.
this is one of the more superb things you've put together. and it's clear how much you two enjoy what you're doing...
yesss I love this video, Jo Grant would be cool to do too
I'd love a video like this for Peri's fits 👀
This was so fun! I know nothing about fashion, but I love Romana, especially Romana II. Also, that purple Romana I outfit is so incredible.
Expected a breakdown of Nyssa's outfits, it better be coming! But this was great fun, loved it!
I will be staying alive for that one, mate.
Except for a few episodes Nyssa worse the Same Traken outfit. The joke was that Lalla Ward bankrupted the wardrobe budget which is why Waterhouse, Sutton and fielding did not have different clothes the first season of the 5th Doctor.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video, guys. I'd love to see more of this in the future.
My favourite Romana outfit is from Creature From The Pit.
I saw the notification "Romana fashion review" and thought this will be one to skip.
I didn't and it was great!
I’m sure the BBC designers who were top of their game would love to hear your critique. But, I very much doubt it.
I love the Ribos Operation outfit- so gorgeous and glamorous. Also I like the Creature in the Pit outfit and agree it would have fit with Romana 1 better

love this sm omg would love to see you guys review peri's wardrobe next
1:40 That is the single most amazing description of Romana I that I have ever heard!
This is better than Behind the Sofa! The DVD extra only Josh could make. More please!!!
😂💕
The trousers Lala is wearing are a Georgian breech, so they’re a 3/4 length to present a sock. Tom wears a longer version showing his argyle socks when wearing brogues. This is oxbridge knowledge
I have an idea but it may be a while! Jo Grant vs Sarah Jane in their original runs! Both have iconic outfits but they both lasted almost 20 stories
Lol I will say my wife and I heavily enjoyed this. It was so entertaining We hope you do more. Also Romana II is so a mood.
Would love to see more like this! Really great video
In the late 70's they were doing a lot of modern interpretations of Victorian/Edwardian styles, so the Shada one kinda fits.
Remember the new romantic seen had started so culturally a lot of frills in tops and skirts where in vogue.
This is a great idea for a series…..not widely covered on UA-cam.
Thanks Josh for a video that made me laugh out loud. I love that Doctor Who fandom has so many takes on aspects of the show that would never occur to me.
That was really good fun, I think you should definitely make it into a series
16:10 funny how this came up considering 13 would regen in 14 and change clothes mid regeneration. Predicting the future lol
Romana I slays all day every day.
it’s true, she can’t help it x

19:33 Lalla Ward looked stunningly beautiful in that dress in Creature from the Pit.
I’m all for this is this becomes a series! Commenting as the video starts.
Would absolutely LOVE if you guys would rate Jo Grant’s outfits!
Thinking of how much she loved Jo's outfits, Doctor Who reactor Sesskasays will love Romana 1 & 2
This was an amazing video. You need to do this with every character in Doctor Who!
This video was a lot of fun. You two should return to discuss another female companion's outfits. How about Jo Grant's? or Peri's?
Chef's kiss! Now do Elizabeth Sladen/Sarah Jane Smith! Or Jo Grant? Tegan Jovanka?
Not the sort of content i thought i needed but here we are
Loved watching this!!
Well, that was all kinds of fun! 👌🏻
No discussion of Romana's Dimensions in Time outfit? What a tragedy, truly the most iconic look.
😂😂
that was jolly, thanks
This is something new and different! Thanks. Please do Clara and Peri
What a effing good video. More fashion reviews with you two IS REQUIRED

cant believe romana invented fashion
the truth is finally revealed 😌

Josh is giving Season 1 Joey Tribbiani vibes. Also, this video is yet another banger.
😂😂😂
Loved this! 😃 hope you do other companions as well (Clara, Peri, Mel all certainly make choices!)

Hope we get more of this duo with dw fashion. Such a good watch
I love this so so much. I can't stop laughing! Also the audio quality really isn't that bad.
i did not realise this was 40 minutes until i finished it! amazing video lol
Yes this is my favourite companion i am so glad you did this. I love all of romana ones outfits
i loved this :) it would be great to see more of these
Love this ...Great video !
Loved this, would definitely like to see more!
This video feels like it was specifically made for me. I always had an obsession with romana's outfits
I got the romana figures
That was so much fun! Thank you :)

Clearly your friend does not know the ettiquette. One does not ask do Time Lord's f*ck; the question is worded "do they dance?"
This is sooooooo good, both Romanas brought their game but number two always had my heart ❤️ that sailor suit wins!
Should have gone to Specsavers.
Mary Tamm what a classy lady with such classy outfits. The most Romanaish of them all!
Absolutely loved this!
Romana is always serving, same with Jo.
