I’d like to see Biz be a minority investor in the future Arizona expansion team. The former ownership group was so out of touch with the community the Coyotes were doomed there.

I’m AZ born and started playing hockey around the old glory days of the yotes with Roenick and all them, moved away from AZ during the biz years but still always tried to watch and support the team, sucks for us, but I like the fact that the new generation will get an honest shot being on a real nhl team. I think most of us root yotes fans will root for them in Utah

Because the market they are in sucks, look at the rams since coming to LA. Same thing with the Raiders and Golden Knights. Chargers too. It’s all about money, success = money but if you have none of both nobody gonna want to come either.

Many reasons but it happened a lot in the 90s too. Two or three nhl teams relocated. Montreal expos relocated from mlb few nfl teams as well it’s nothing new. Bad ownership kills

Cause the wealthy owner refused to pay for a new arena and tried to force the taxpayers to do it?

    • @kobyschechter8163

When the citizens of Tempe AZ rejected all three proposals for a new arena in the city, the Coyotes were out of options to remain in Arizona and everyone knew a relocation was imminent. All the terrible owners they over the years had pissed off the entire city. Their arena situation from 2022 to 2024 was incredibly embarrassing. Playing in a 4,600 seat arena was simply not viable long term. Another team that can potentially leave Arizona in the foreseeable future is the D-Backs (baseball). Their ballpark Chase Field, desperately needs a major overhaul. The team’s lease on the stadium expires after the 2027 season. The organization and Maricopa County are VERY far apart in negotiations to renovate the stadium. My message to Maricopa County: You saw what happened with the Coyotes and with Oakland CA, you need to make you don’t lose a second pro sports team because that would be a total disaster. If the D-Backs leave the Phoenix area after 2027, they will have lost two franchises in a four year span. You cannot let this happen a second time.

David Portnoy, Paul Bissonnette Ryan Whitney and possibly a future HOF player from the Pittsburg Penguins have expressed interest in the new ownership group in Arizona in 2030. This will include a new arena and major corporate partnerships. Morello is already in talks with them as he is allowed to sell minority shares in the future expansion team. It’ll be announced once they win the land auction.

Some of you people are awful. No compassion or empathy. You're not funny. You're not smart. You don't know how it feels to lose a franchise you love with every fiber of your being. If you do somehow, then shame on you even more. I always heard "Coyotes have no fans". funny. I remember a couple years ago when the Florida Panthers had the worst attendance in the league. No one said anything about them. There's fans. I'm definitely one of them and I'm far away from Arizona. You would understand that if you actually watched one of their games or more importantly, their final game. Tyson and Todd pointed out all the stuff they did for the community and donations that were made. Arizona lost that as well. Yes, there's a market for hockey in Arizona. Just not in Tempe in a 4,600 seat college arena. They belong in Phoenix. Hopefully they come back, with an owner who gives a damn. shame on anyone who says rotten things about Arizona or their fans. Blame the owner. No matter what, Go Yotes!

It’s not so much about the market, as it was politics, the Coyotes never turned a profit, and the unscrupulous owner … 🤷🏼‍♀️. Why the NHL entertains Atlanta for a third go around, baffles me.

You must not know much about economics. The NHL would be foolish to not go to Phoenix. The lazy narrative is that “there’s no fans there, hockey doesn’t work in the desert, nobody cares in Phoenix”, etc etc. Phoenix area is very unique in that it’s massively spread out. The fans didn’t go mostly due to not having an accessible arena. The move to Glendale killed the team. First couple years when they were in downtown Phoenix, attendance wasn’t a problem. Plenty of fan support. All they need is an accessible arena and at least average ownership. Tickets were 3-4 times the price at mullet and they were sold out constantly. I couldn’t even get tickets to a mid week game on my last trip there from my home in Detroit. Why? Because the arena was accessible.

Good riddance to the Arizona Coyotes. This team should have left more than a decade ago. Best business decision in the teams history by letting this team to relocate to Salt Lake City. Fan support was never there in Phoenix. The rest of the fans around the league won't miss Arizona either, so feeling is mutual.
