Thanks for all the fabulous information. Wow I learned a lot from you. I am a big Queen fan and have seen the video 100s of time's even though I have never seen Wayne's World. I love all the meanings in the video witch you have pointed out to me. I can now see why everyone suggested ear buds . You really can get more sound even though I hate them I WILL wear them for you Pentaholics. Thanks again for the info and for watching I really appreciate it.
The audio panning on "little high, little low" is a direct quote from Queen. If you listen to Queen's original you'll hear the same panning on the same phrase. Pentatonix loves Queen, and they love "Bohemian Rhapsody," so they always wanted to cover this song, but they feared that they couldn't do it justice, so they decided to wait until they were sure they were ready. That took them five years, but it was worth the wait - they were definitely ready. In the early days of Pentatonix, after Epic reneged on the recording contract Pentatonix had "won" on _The Sing-Off,_ Pentatonix started posting to UA-cam; it was the only way they COULD publish their music. A lot of those early UA-cam videos show the five of them sitting on a couch, with the trio on the back of the couch and Avi and Kevin on the seat in front of them, just five very young people singing their hearts out, making their dream come true. Note that this is the configuration we see them in at the beginning and end of "Bohemian Rhapsody," which is one reason the couch needs to move - it's taking Pentatonix (and us) on a trip down Memory Lane. The more important reason the couch moves is that it's standing in for the car in _Wayne's World,_ where Wayne and Garth introduced a whole new generation to the genius of Queen by putting a tape of "Bohemian Rhapsody" into the car's tape player. The couch was motorized, and not very well balanced. (Note that when they're sitting on it their feet don't quite reach the ground. The little curtain thing on the bottom was added to hide the motor.) It kept trying to tip over during the filming and actually managed to throw Kevin off at one point. There was a small platform attached to the back so that Kirstie could climb on the couch from behind - Scott, being a foot taller than Kirstie, didn't need it. Many people think the megaphone is distorting Mitch's voice to make him sound more like an electric guitar, but it actually has nothing to do with it. The megaphone wasn't turned on, and couldn't have distorted Mitch's voice even if it had been - it was just a megaphone. The electric guitar is all Mitch. Mitch happened to see the megaphone lying around on the set and thought it would make a cool prop, so it's been confusing people ever since. During the "Bismillah" argument, note that Scott, whose range includes both bass and tenor registers, is actually singing along with both the high and low sides of the argument. Scott has said that this rapid switching is the hardest part of the song for him. When the camera pans up to show us the starry night sky during Mitch's second guitar solo, it's meant as a tribute to Queen's lead guitarist, Brian May, who has a doctorate in astrophysics. The four shooting stars honor the four members of Queen. When the camera pans back down to show Pentatonix lying on the couch together it's meant to recall the cover art for Queen's "Sheer Heart Attack" album. Kevin and Mitch are both singing that last "Any way the wind blows." Note that this completes it; EVERY member of Pentatonix had an opportunity to play Freddie Mercury in "Bohemian Rhapsody," yet another dream come true. And when this official video was first released, Brian May posted a link to it on all his social media accounts with the comment: "Enjoy."
Wow Margret you definitely are a Pentaholic. Thanks for the fabulous information. I never saw Wayne's World but always loved Queen and Freddie. I will have to go back and watch again and check out all your points. Thanks again
I saw them at the Hollywood Bowl last year, and again three days ago (both times with my 80+ year old landlord who had never heard of them before I forced her to watch "Hallelujah" about a month before the first concert), so it's never too late to become a Pentaholic!
Sorry about the discomfort but thank you sooooo much for the sacrifice and the great reaction.PTX has something like 6 Christmas albums, classics, modern twists, gospel, secular and originals. For pre-Christmas season, might I recommend their cover of Imagine? They pay faithful homage to the original while giving it their very special touch and bringing the message forward to today. Be ready for the 'wall of sound' toward the end. Thank again. Looking forward to more. God bless.
Thanks for watching I really appreciate it. I love Christmas 🎄 more than anyone and can't wait to hear their music. Maybe I will do Imagine next. Thanks again
Thank you for your sacrifice!! 😁 Kevin Olusola is the black guy's name , and his beatboxing is extraordinary! Avi Kaplan is the bass and his vocals are so lovely, deep and warm. It took the group 5 years working with the arrangement and improving themselves before they felt comfortable enough to do this wonderful rendition.
They are absolutely amazing and phenomenal. I really love them and am so thankful that someone requested them a few months ago. I am so impressed with their talent and voices. I will definitely do much more of them. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
@@bfly5990 I always appreciate artists who are good people. To many of them let fame and success go to their head and they become jerks. I am so glad Pentatonix are great people. That makes me love them even more. Thanks
Hello again Tom! Another great reaction. I was a teenager in the 70's and Queen was one of my favorite groups then, and still is today. I think Pentatonics did such a great tribute to Queen, and to this song. Their talent is amazing. Once again l so enjoyed " Toms Worthless Facts". I was 15 years old in 1975 and I remember all the items that you mentioned. Lol! Loved it. Thanks again.... until the next!
Thanks Tom for watching and your support. Pentatonix is absolutely spectacular and I really love them as I also love Queen. Freddie would be proud of the way Pentatonix did this song. 75 I was 17 and a senior in H.S. and having the time of my life. I'm glad you enjoyed the facts because some have said I should stop doing that but I enjoy doing it. Thanks again and hope to hear from you soon.
I saw you smiling from the first note! If you would have told me a while back that an a cappella band could rock out to this degree, I would have giggled to myself and dismissed the idea. But, yeah, now there’s PTX and I was wrong. So glad the earbuds were worthwhile for you, please don’t endure major discomfort on our account. (But you will hear about it again if you don’t use them the next time!) One of my favorites recently has been their cover of God Only Knows from The Beach Boys. It’s like one generation of harmony aces paying tribute to a previous one. And check out Gold if you want to see what they can do just sitting around in the studio. Loved your reaction. Peace …
Thanks for the kind words and for watching I really appreciate it. They are absolutely amazing and spectacular. I would have never thought a Acapella group would knock my socks off. I heard barber shop quartets before but not Acapella groups. I will definitely wear the ear buds just for Pentatonix. Thanks again
❤ Awe, thank you for trying!! And making it through the whole song!! I loved your reaction! 😊❤❤ and I have issues wearing ear buds or headphones too. So, I'm really glad that you could see the difference and appreciate how much more you can hear! Great job!! 😊❤❤
No problem. I will definitely keep the ear buds on just for you Pentaholics. They definitely make a difference. I really love this band and will definitely do much more of them. Can't wait for their Christmas songs. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment
That's true dedication. Freddie would be proud of Pentatonix. I will definitely do more of them in the future. Thanks Barbara for watching and taking the time to comment.
Thanks for watching and your suggestion. I just recorded Pentatonix doing a Christmas 🎄 song. It will be up next week. They are absolutely amazing and I can't wait to do their Christmas songs. It won't be long and the holidays will be here. Thanks again.
If you struggle with things blocking your ears you might want to consider bone conduction headphones like 'Shokz'. The sound quality is really good and your ears remain unaffected
There are earphones which are thin wire that slips over the ear like a sunglasses end but thinner. Nothing goes inside the ear at all. They are worth it!
Maybe I'll have to check them out. I guess I'm a little weird but just don't like things over or in my ears. WEIRD. You definitely can hear more with the buds. Thanks for watching I really appreciate you and thanks for the info.
Pentatonix Bohemian Rhapsody Insights: So, some things to know about this cover and video: -It took PTX years to get the arrangement to where they felt they could do the original masterpiece justice. -The cover, and especially the video, was meant to be an homage to Queen. Some of the moments paying respect were: The mono-recording of the line "easy come, easy go" followed by the panning of the voices from left to right on the line "little high, little low" (which is how the original was recorded), obviously the flashlights being used to mimic the lighting on the operatic part of the original video, the four shooting stars to represent the four members of Queen, as well as acknowledge the fact that Dr. Brian May is an astrophysicist, and the overhead shot of them lying on the couch is to represent the Sheer Heart Attack album cover. -The megaphone was just a prop. It is not needed to reproduce the electric guitar distortion. -PTX can, and does, perform this live with no backing track...something even Queen and the Great Freddie Mercury could not do. -Freddy once said he didn't care what people did with his music as long as they "...don't make it boring, darling!", so I think he would absolutely approve. -The overall video--with the "living room" and couch--is an homage to Pentatonix's own journey as a group. They lost their record deal right after winning the Sing Off and moving to LA, so they started putting out videos on UA-cam, performing covers. They would sit on the couch in Kevin (beatboxer) and Avi's (bass) living room and just record themselves on Mitch's (counter tenor who took the lead on this song) iPad. Some of their earliest videos went viral and they eventually were able to secure a new deal, record an EP, go on tour, release chart-topping albums and win three Grammy awards...so they moved out of the living room and down this new, unknown road. At the end of the day, though, they're still the same choir-nerds they've always been; just happy to sit together on a couch and sing. Also when Brian Mays heard it... then he posted it on his web site with the word "ENJOY”.
Yes Freddie would definitely appreciate this song and video. I could picture Freddie saying that for sure. That was him. I am so thankful that someone requested Pentatonix or I may have never found them. I really appreciate their talent and voices. They are absolutely amazing. I will definitely do much more of them and can't wait to do some Christmas 🎄 videos of theirs. Thanks Perry for your great comment and for watching.
We urge the use of ear buds or headphones so you don't miss a note or beat of PTX magic! Every subtle tap and reverberating bass tone adds to the encompassing sound and feel of what they produce with their voices and bodies alone. If it's going to detract from your experience, don't wear them! Just enjoy what you do see, feel and hear! Obviously you're appreciating their music and talent...that's all that matters! Subbed for more PTX content! Love witnessing the birth of a new pentaholic! Welcome to the club! Can't wait to see what you do next!
Thanks for welcoming me to the club. They are absolutely amazing and spectacular and I can wear them for Pentatonix it won't kill me for 5 minutes. Yes I could hear all the different sounds . Thanks Sonja for watching I really appreciate it.
Great to see you back, you'll get used to wearing ear buds, but I prefer head-phones. I know it will take a while to get used to it. Hell, I've been wearing hearing aids for 52 years and so used to wearing them I hardly ever notice I'm wearing them... LOL. BTW, great reaction!
Thanks Jim for watching I really appreciate it. I just started wearing glasses in the spring and I still can't get used to them. I hate them too. I will definitely wear the bud's just for the Pentaholics. They are absolutely amazing and spectacular. Thanks again.
You can't go wrong listening to anything Pentatonix has recorded; it's all wonderful. That said, all pentaholics have our personal favorites that we like to recommend. Here are some of mine: • "The Prayer" • "Imagine" (The official video. They sing it just as well live, but there are important visual effects in the video that can't be duplicated in a live performance.) • "Daft Punk Medley" (Their first Grammy winner.) • "O Come All Ye Faithful" • "Run To You" (An original, written by Avi and Kevin.) • "Seasons Of Love" (Preferably the live Fourth of July performance for PBS.) • "The Kevin Show/Kevin's Fifth" (Link to a live stream from a concert in Owensboro, Kentucky, Kevin's home town: ua-cam.com/video/DbCasvcNx78/v-deo.html )
So I thought... Grumpy Old Guy? Reacting to PTX covering Queen? This oughta be good! And you did not disappoint. Massive thumbs up for listening to your subscribers and suffering through the earplugs. Headphones are even better, but... it makes SUCH a difference with this group, especially this song. You caught the panning they did, just like Queen. And that opera-quality bassline. And the beatboxer's incredible talent. I'm off to check out any other Pentatonix reactions you've done, and will sure be here for their Christmas catalogue. Liked and subbed.
Thanks Kaye I just answered your comment from Hallelujah. Yes the bud's made a difference. I definitely will do much more of them soon and can't wait for the Christmas songs.
Great reaction! This is one of their classic videos! They worked on it for several years because they wanted to get it right! I'm 70 yo and don't really care for ear buds. Last year I invested in some nice head phones that have really soft ear pads. I really like them.
Thanks Vicki for watching and I will definitely have to check out investing in some head phones. I am so impressed with their talent and voices. I just started wearing glasses in the spring and I hate them too. It's hell to get old.
@@grumpyoldguyreacts I had to laugh at the last line of your comment. I wore glasses from the age of 6. Four years ago I had cataract surgery and now don't need glasses to drive! It was weird. Still need them for close up and computer work, but I figured I needed a plus after wearing glasses for 60 years!! I started following your page BECAUSE you are older! I enjoy watching younger reactors seeing OUR music for the first time, just as I enjoy you learning about newer groups. Keep it up!
@@vickiandrews4087 Thanks so very much for the kind words. That's how I got started. I was watching all these young people reacting to our music and I said I could do that and learn new music. I was still stuck in the 60s and 70s and not finding any new music. Boy am I having fun and learning more about music and artists and even their countries. Thanks again Vicki and hope to talk to you soon. P.S. you should enjoy today's oldie.
LOL, it's fine to be a bit odd! It keeps the world interesting 🙂You don't have to wait to launch into their Christmas music, it's a big list, best to start early. Even after many, many listens to their songs, I always seem to hear something new each time!! Glad you could hear them with the earbuds - even if they are uncomfortable, just to hear how even more amazing they are!
Yes I was wrong by not wearing them before. I love Christmas ⛄ more than anyone and will start doing theirs a little early. If you watch my food videos you will really see how odd I really am. Thanks Tania for watching I appreciate it.
Just a suggestion: I've found that one of the things that makes earbuds uncomfortable is the fact that the tips aren't really the same shape as the ear canal, so they never quite fit properly. However, there is a company that makes earbuds with properly shaped tips. The company is named Klipsch. I can no longer wear them because I need wired ear buds and Klipsch has discontinued those, but their Bluetooth earbuds might work quite well for you.
I'm just a little bit weird that I don't like things in or over my ears. I will definitely wear them just for all the Pentatonix fans. Pentatonix is absolutely spectacular and amazing and I am so impressed with their talent and voices. Thanks Margret for watching and taking the time to comment.
Great reaction! It's good to use headphones if you can,so you can get all the great details of what they do, (as you noticed), but I'm not sure it's worth you being so uncomfortable. I don't think Pentatonix would want you to suffer for their art, lol
It really did make a difference. Maybe I'll get a little used to them. They are absolutely amazing and I really love them. I am amazed at their talent. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it
Thanks for the suggestion but if I go buy them and hate them I guess I will be stuck with them. I will use the ear buds for them only. Thanks Beth for watching and taking the time to comment.
Aftershotz makes ones that don’t go in the ear-but around the ear and conducts through the bone-it’s not the same as over the ear for depth, but at least you can get better effects than listening without anything. Thanks for doing them again…..
The members of Pentatonix, in this video: I'm going to refer to their locations on the couch at the beginning and end, in the living room set. On the back of the couch, from left to right, we have: • Kirstin (also called Kirstie, which rhymes with thirsty) Maldonado, the only woman in Pentatonix. Kirstie sings anywhere from low alto through coloratura soprano, the highest soprano range, and she has fantastic whistle notes on top of that. Recently Pentatonix has begun calling her an "alto soprano." • Mitch Grassi (pronounced Grah'-see, emphasis on the first syllable), natural contratenor. Mitch has a range of just over six octaves and is considered by all the other members of Pentatonix to be the best singer in the band. He's known for his ethereal high vocals, and switches seamlessly between chest voice, mixed voice, and head voice. • Scott Hoying, lyric baritone. When describing a man's vocal range, the term "lyric" means that the actual range is greater than the nominal range. Scott's range starts in the middle of the bass range, on the low end, and extends through most of a normal tenor range on the high end. When the bass is soloing, Scott can and does take over the bass harmony line. Kirstie, Mitch, and Scott grew up together in Arlington, Texas and formed a trio in high school which they named "The Trio." (For this reason, these three are still known to pentaholics as "the trio.") In high school, The Trio frequently performed at school functions and occasionally on local television, but when they wanted to get on _The Sing-Off_ and win a recording contract they found out that they needed at least five members, so they added a rhythm section, which brings us to the seat of the couch: •On the left we have Kevin Olusola (pronounced Oh-loosh"-oh-luh', primary emphasis on the second syllable, secondary emphasis on the fourth syllable), beatboxer extraordinaire. Somewhere there may be a better beatboxer than Kevin, but if so I've never encountered him or her. Kevin is generally too busy being the entire percussion section to sing, but when he does sing he has a lovely tenor voice that occasionally dips into the uppermost reaches of baritone, and he's known for the beauty of his falsetto. He's also a pretty good rapper. Kevin has perfect pitch. He's been classically trained since childhood on piano, saxophone, and cello. He beatboxes while playing the cello, a technique he calls "celloboxing." He performed at Carnegie Hall twice when he was a teenager, once on saxophone and once on cello. He has a pre-med degree from Yale and had been accepted to Yale Medical School before he decided to become a professional musician instead of a brilliant surgeon. He speaks five languages fluently: English, French, Spanish, German, and Mandarin Chinese. He's one of the kindest people in the world, and when he laughs he makes the whole planet seem like a brighter place. • And on the right we have Avi (pronounced Ah'-vee, emphasis on the first syllable) Kaplan, lyric bass. Avi is an operatically trained basso profundo (his lowest notes have blown out speakers in live performances), but his range extends to about the middle of a normal tenor range. Avi left Pentatonix in 2017, for a variety of personal reasons. He has since gone on to have a very successful solo career; I highly recommend subscribing to his UA-cam channel: youtube.com/@AviKaplanMusic • Not in this video is Avi's replacement, Matt Sallee (pronounced Suh-lee', emphasis on the second syllable), who joined Pentatonix in late 2017 or early 2018, depending on how you figure it. Matt is another lyric bass. In addition to being the newest member of Pentatonix, Matt is also the youngest member, and I'm told that bass voices improve with age. So it's hard to be sure just what Matt's range is, because it's still growing. To find his current range I recommend listening to a live stream of "Hallelujah" from their recent world tour. You can find one here: ua-cam.com/video/ASYzLoi810k/v-deo.html Matt's arrangement of the second verse seems to be designed to show off his full range, and it will blow you away. I don't believe he's at the basso profundo level yet, though I expect him to reach it within a year or two. But on the high end he's near the top of a normal tenor range.

@@grumpyoldguyreacts Well, you're still welcome to use my descriptions. I’m a grumpy old lady and have a terrible problem with in-the-ear earphones. There are some that just hang around your ear that are very comfortable. They’re not the greatest quality, but might be a nice compromise and still give you a better listening experience.
Thanks Katy for your suggestion and for watching and taking the time to comment. I think I can get through Pentatonix videos with the buds. It's not like I am wearing them all the time. Take care.
Just a friendly suggestion. You do not need to screw the pods into your ear. You only need just a snug enough fit so they don’t fall out. Should be more comfortable. Otherwise, full over the ears headphones can be quite comfortable. These will help if you decide to check out other a cappella bands. Recommend their cover of I Just Called To Say I Love You.
Thanks for your suggestions. I may have to invest in head phones. Pentatonix is absolutely spectacular and I really love them. I am a Pentaholic. Thanks for watching
I want to hear the back round noises. I will wear them for Pentatonix not just for the Pentaholics. You guys convinced me to wear them and I am glad I did even though I am not a fan of ear buds. Thanks Darrin for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it.
I can't wear earbuds either! They just don't fit no matter what size I use and they hurt! However, over the ear headphones are great! You might consider trying those instead.
I can understand that sometimes the Pentaholics (including me!) can be a little "over-zealous" about telling reactors to use headphones or ear buds to listen to Pentatonix. I think this video may have given you some idea on why we do it - it's not for us, it's to make sure that you can hear and appreciate all of the details that they put into their music. Personally, I think unless you've got a killer speaker system, headphones or ear buds are the only way to listen to music of any kind, but especially a cappella, where there are often some subtle nuances that you may well miss otherwise (and you can crank the volume without disturbing your neighbors!). But I'd say it's entirely up to you about wearing them if you're uncomfortable with them. Yes, you'll probably always get comments from some Pentaholics that haven't seen this video, but you might be able to cut down on that if you put a line at the top of your description about it, or maybe just take a few seconds and mention it briefly at the beginning of any Pentatonix reactions that you do - or do both, and tell viewers to check the description for a fuller explanation of why you're not wearing them. For me, I'd much rather you were comfortable while you're reacting than catching every little detail, just that you know that you may be missing some things without them.
All the Pentaholics were right I did need ear buds. I could definitely hear more different sounds. I will definitely wear them for my Pentatonix videos. It was well worth a little discomfort to hear them the way it is supposed to be. Thanks Badger for watching and taking the time to comment. Take care my friend.
You are with ear coverings as I am with hats. Lol i hate anything on my head. I also can't do ear buds bc they hurt my ears. I only use over the ear phones, and I think if you get noise canceling variety you get even richer sound bc theres little outside sound to contaminate those beautiful voices. So I know it's hard, but it's worth the sacrifice bc headphones is truly the only way to appreciate the little nuances that you'd otherwise miss. I love this song and I truly think freddie would have as well. Brian may loved it. I think freddie would have had this song as his ring tone if he'd have lived. Then prob chased mitch. Lol
Thanks Eva for watching and taking the time to comment and your suggestion. I always have a hat on except in the house. I do always wear one when I record my videos. Yes Freddie would be proud of the way Pentatonix did this song and video. I will have to check out head phones. Can't wait to do their Christmas songs because I love Christmas ⛄. Thanks again and take care.

Hi, I know you're a grumpy old man (so am I), but rather than use a 1950s TV, you should use a modern big flat screen !! Also, you would also be better off with HEADPHONES !!
Thanks . I may have to invest in them. I do have a flat screen but it's only like 27 inches. My son has one that's about 90 inches and I hate it. It's like sitting in the front row in the theater. Anyway Pentatonix is absolutely spectacular and amazing and I will definitely do more of them soon. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it.

I love all the meanings in the video witch you have pointed out to me. I can now see why everyone suggested ear buds .

As you go deeper you will find that their talent is equaled by their kindness and positivity. There is a reason so many of us love them
@@bfly5990 I always appreciate artists who are good people.
A brilliant rendition of this song. One of my favorites. Thanks and take care.
Yes it definitely was. I really love Queen and Pentatonix definitely did this song justice. As always THANKS and I really appreciate you as a friend.
Mind blown!!!🤯 They are phenomenal
Yes they are
I’m so happy you did this. I just saw them do this live last night. They are beyond amazing
Yes they are. I can't believe they can be this fabulous without instruments. Thanks again
They worked on this arrangement for five years before they felt they were good enough to honor Queen's iconic performance.
Subbed.
That's true dedication. Freddie would be proud of Pentatonix. I will definitely do more of them in the future. Thanks Barbara for watching and taking the time to comment.
The prayer, carol of the bells, dance of the sugar plum fairy, daft punk medley
Thanks for watching and your suggestion. I just recorded Pentatonix doing a Christmas 🎄 song. It will be up next week. They are absolutely amazing and I can't wait to do their Christmas songs. It won't be long and the holidays will be here. Thanks again.
If you struggle with things blocking your ears you might want to consider bone conduction headphones like 'Shokz'. The sound quality is really good and your ears remain unaffected
Thanks Spartan for your suggestion . I will definitely have to check them out. Thanks again for watching.
Pentatonix Bohemian Rhapsody Insights:
So, some things to know about this cover and video: -It took PTX years to get the arrangement to where they felt they could do the original masterpiece justice.
Nice headphones. Now I'm a fan of yours
Thanks I was stupid for not wearing them. Take care Rick
Here are some of mine:
• "The Prayer"
• "Imagine" (The official video. They sing it just as well live, but there are important visual effects in the video that can't be duplicated in a live performance.)
• "Daft Punk Medley" (Their first Grammy winner.)
• "O Come All Ye Faithful"
• "Run To You" (An original, written by Avi and Kevin.)
• "Seasons Of Love" (Preferably the live Fourth of July performance for PBS.)
• "The Kevin Show/Kevin's Fifth" (Link to a live stream from a concert in Owensboro, Kentucky, Kevin's home town: ua-cam.com/video/DbCasvcNx78/v-deo.html )
Hello again Margret and I will definitely put them on my list. Take care.
I also hate earbuds, but I love my headphones! It makes a difference for sure.
Thanks Stacie. I'm just a little weird. I will definitely have to check out some head phones. Thanks again.
Thanks for watching I really appreciate it
Try headphones if you don't like the earbuds - it really does make a difference.
Thanks for the suggestion but if I go buy them and hate them I guess I will be stuck with them. I will use the ear buds for them only. Thanks Beth for watching and taking the time to comment.
It’s all Good TW!
Love ya Guy💕
Song is a good one, this group is Awesome
Thanks Nanc and say hi to Al.
Aftershotz makes ones that don’t go in the ear-but around the ear and conducts through the bone-it’s not the same as over the ear for depth, but at least you can get better effects than listening without anything. Thanks for doing them again…..
Thanks Kelly for watching and the info. I will definitely do much more of them in the future. They are absolutely amazing and spectacular. Take care.
The members of Pentatonix, in this video:
I'm going to refer to their locations on the couch at the beginning and end, in the living room set.
On the back of the couch, from left to right, we have:
• Kirstin (also called Kirstie, which rhymes with thirsty) Maldonado, the only woman in Pentatonix. Kirstie sings anywhere from low alto through coloratura soprano, the highest soprano range, and she has fantastic whistle notes on top of that. Recently Pentatonix has begun calling her an "alto soprano."
• Mitch Grassi (pronounced Grah'-see, emphasis on the first syllable), natural contratenor.
Kirstie, Mitch, and Scott grew up together in Arlington, Texas and formed a trio in high school which they named "The Trio." (For this reason, these three are still known to pentaholics as "the trio.") In high school, The Trio frequently performed at school functions and occasionally on local television, but when they wanted to get on _The Sing-Off_ and win a recording contract they found out that they needed at least five members, so they added a rhythm section, which brings us to the seat of the couch:
•On the left we have Kevin Olusola (pronounced Oh-loosh"-oh-luh', primary emphasis on the second syllable, secondary emphasis on the fourth syllable), beatboxer extraordinaire.
He has since gone on to have a very successful solo career; I highly recommend subscribing to his UA-cam channel: youtube.com/@AviKaplanMusic
• Not in this video is Avi's replacement, Matt Sallee (pronounced Suh-lee', emphasis on the second syllable), who joined Pentatonix in late 2017 or early 2018, depending on how you figure it.
Wow that's a lot of great information. Maybe I can use some of it next time I react to them if you don't mind. Thanks again
@@grumpyoldguyreacts The information is only what's readily available to anyone online; feel free to use it. Some of it (my description of Mitch switching seamlessly between chest, mixed, and head voices, for instance) is my personal observation/opinion; if you share that observation and opinion you're welcome to say so in whatever words you like, including mine. I make no copyright claim on this.
@@margretrosenberg420 I'm computer illiterate and don't know how to go on line. My son does all the editing and deals with you tube. My wife pulls up the videos I select and all I can do is start and stop the video. I'm so old fashioned that I have a flip phone and still use a rotary phone. So sometimes it is hard for me to find a lot of information. They did teach me how to use a tablet so I could answer the comments. Thanks again Margret.
@@grumpyoldguyreacts Well, you're still welcome to use my descriptions.
I'm 70 and still have a landline phone (though the rotary phone broke a while back), but I'm reasonably computer literate; I was an editor at a computer magazine in the mid 1980s, and I belong to a computer club that meets weekly.
So, for your edification, there's a deep dark secret about computers: they only want you to THINK they're smart; they're really extremely stupid. Trust me on this one; you're much smarter than the smartest computer in existence. They can do some things better than you, of course, like playing streaming videos, but your table lamp can also do things you can't, with no smarts at all. They're technology; that's all.
@@margretrosenberg420 I'm stubborn and don't want to learn. I don't know how to cook or do laundry or pay bills. My wife is a saint to put up with me for 42 years.
Take care.
Get headphones that don’t drill into the ear. They make lovely light versions.
Thanks Janice for the suggestion and for watching I really appreciate it. Pentatonix is amazing and I will definitely do much more of them.
Don't wear the earphones for us! Wear them because you want to hear the things that our ears don't pick up, because of background noise.
Thanks Amy for your suggestion. I may have to invest in some. Thanks again for watching I appreciate it.
Sup yall
Thanks for watching
@grumpyoldguyreacts keep them PTX reactions coming and ill watch them.
@@sean1849 They will definitely keep coming.
Thanks again and take care.
i WEAR HEARING AIDS, SO I CAN'T WEAR EAR BUDS . i HAVE HEADPHONES. They are needed for Pentatonix. Great reaction. I don't think thet would like ear buds either.
Thanks Judith for the suggestion. I'm just a little bit odd that I don't like things in or over my ears but I will definitely wear them for Pentatonix . Thanks for watching I really appreciate it and your support
I am lucky my hearing aids are bluetooth
Hi, I know you're a grumpy old man (so am I), but rather than use a 1950s TV, you should use a modern big flat screen !! Also, you would also be better off with HEADPHONES !!
Thanks . I may have to invest in them. I do have a flat screen but it's only like 27 inches. My son has one that's about 90 inches and I hate it. It's like sitting in the front row in the theater. Anyway Pentatonix is absolutely spectacular and amazing and I will definitely do more of them soon. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it.
Would you prefer over the ear headphones instead? I wear hearing aids so I’m used to things in my ears, but it’s not unreasonable to not like it.
Maybe I will definitely have to check them out. They are absolutely amazing and I am amazed at their talent and voices. Thanks Melissa for watching I really appreciate it.
It took them 5 years to get the video and audio "just right", out of respect for Freddie Mercury.
Freddie would be proud of what Pentatonix has done with this song. Freddie was a Genius and so are Pentatonix. Thanks
Are you claustrophobic
No but I have a lot of other querks. Give Pickles a hug for me.
