Too thick for me. Feels similar to Suhr’s vintage C medium but I may be wrong since I haven’t compared side my side. Too chunky for me.

Yea I sold the ultra before I had a chance to do the video. Neck profiles are different. The noiseless pickups on the ultra are pretty stale in my opinion. The ultra pickups are still noiseless but retain the warmth. Not as much spank on the Suhr but it’s still in the ballpark of tele tone. Love the neck shape on this Suhr. Overall I’m much happier personally.
Nice video Greg, How would you compare this guitar to the American ultra telecaster in terms of quality, play ability, neck , and sound ! Thanks a lot!
To me it’s really in a league of it’s own. The neck on the ultra was just a bit on the thin side for me but it was still comfortable though. I never could quite get used to the noiseless pickups especially when you go back to a standard Tele pickup. The neck on this Suhr is my favorite profile anyway (I have another Suhr with the same). Build quality is exceptional as are most of the Suhr guitars. The sound on the classic t guitars are a bit fatter than a standard tele which makes it versatile for other stuff as well. The ultra was able to do some of that too. Don’t get me wrong, the ultra is a great guitar. Build quality was great on that as well. Had a couple things on the fretboard that were a little off (I think some lacquer transferred over from the neck finish but not a big deal).
The SCII is very good. I don’t have issues in this room and at one of the church locations I play, my tele with standard pickups is pretty noisy and the suhr is quiet. Yes for other guitars my room can be problematic for single coil guitar. Not crazy but it’s there.
Hi Greg, just checked this out after your Fender Ultra video. This Suhr looks amazing! What's the upper neck access like compared with the Ultra Tele? And if compared with a Fender Strat without a contoured heel? Thanks for the great vids and help man!
I bought this Suhr specifically for the neck profile. I love their necks. Both the ultra and Suhr are comparable and comfortable in the upper access. The Suhr neck shape is more comfortable to me but that’s all preference. The normal classic t has a fatter neck that I’m not isn’t as comfortable for me so with this limited edition paulownia they offered the even C slim which is my favorite. It’s a very light guitar and personally I wouldn’t mind a little more weight to it but that’s just the characteristic of paulownia. As far as comparing to a strat without the contoured heel, they are similar. The Suhr doesn’t really have the contour either. There is a curved area in the body to better access the highest register, and the heel is angled just a tad so this can be considered kind of contoured but the new American professional 2 has more of a heel cutout. Truthfully, I rarely access the highest register and if I do, I don’t stay there long. Hope this helps.
@@GregSummersMusic that helps massively! Thank you for the detailed response. You've got me looking for Paulonia guitars now... a few hours ago I never knew they existed 😂
Mine is a little neck heavy due to the light body but my fender tele also has a similar issue...and so did the ultra. I guess the tele bodies just don’t have a lot of weight in general. If you are able to try a regular classic t with the regular even C neck it may be worth the time. Neck comfort for me is top priority. Pickups can be changed and other parts swapped but the neck is high on my list so it has to be comfortable. I do have a comparison video in the works between my fender and the Suhr. They do sound different so if you want that traditional high end spank, the classic t pickups aren’t really going to give you that but they are in the tele ballpark, but tend to be a little beefier which does give you sorbet options. Just all in what you are looking for. Like I said, pickups can always be swapped and I know Suhr has a set of traditional pickups if you are looking to match the regalia classic tele sound. I saw John Suhr mention that in the forum a while ago.
Hi Greg. Me again 🤣🤣🤣. What are your thoughts about the guitar after a year of playing It? It sounds amazing in this video. I have read some people complaining about nasty high harmonics. I do not hear any of them in this or others videos, have you notice them? Thanks very much!!!
Still love it and don’t have any of those issues you reference. May happen with certain setups but nothing with mine. Only minor complaint is the body could be a little heavier but I know that was part of the thing with paulownia but it is a little neck heavy which can be annoying.
That’s a tough one. I’d say it would be a custom Suhr with the same neck as this one, a heavier ash or alder body, and traditional tele pickups. The nash guitar T is nice as well. That probably doesn’t help you lol.
