Reb Beach is the man and he plays Suhr guitars. There is no more Pensa-Suhr guitars. John Suhr hasn’t been involved with Pensa-Suhr since the early 1990s. He left Pensa-Suhr and moved to California to work with Bob Bradshaw at Custom Audio Electronics in the early 1990s after his Pensa-Suhr days. John Suhr then moved on to become a Senior Master Builder at the Fender Custom Shop. In 1997 John Suhr started Suhr Guitars in Lake Elsinore, California. I own several custom Suhr guitars and have visited their factory at the original location and down the street in their current location and John, his crew, and company are the real deal. The combination of Sweetwater selling Suhr guitars, amps, and effects will be fantastic.
@@chrislestermusic Don't forget Mateus Asato, who is one of many on their roster! Suhr's products are surreal. I don't look at other guitars the same after getting mine back in 2022.
I am a certified lumber inspector and when you started talking moisture content my ears perked up. I think for guitar necks at this point is to chemically "stabilize them" or some other form of equalization because guitars are bought in dessert regions and in highly humid regions and this helps that.
Suhr necks are generally baked. I guess the wood fibers can still shift a bit after baking so letting it sit for 3 months makes sense. I had roasted-Maple w/Pau Ferro FB baritone Tele neck made by BYOC that was shipped to right after it was made, and there was some serious instability for quite a while.
I have an 18 and 30. One of their best creations ever. People forget it was one of the 1st designs to introduce built in attenuation with the power scaling.
Common brother!!! 99% of us cant even afford Suhr guitars don't make go and sell everything to finally get one!!! Those first couple minutes are amazing, the tone, feel, dynamics and overall playing is selling me this guitars.
I played a Suhr for the first time about 17 years ago. The way the whole thing was so balanced and resonated unplugged stuck with me, and I finally bought one a couple of years ago. When it arrived, it played better out of the case than any guitar I own. Truly awesome instruments.
Andy is responsible for my love of Suhr guitars, the hole in my wallet, and my evenings being spent building calluses the last 5 years. Endless chops and such a nice dude. Will always watch something with Mr Wood in attendance
Absolutely love Andy’s playing. Seen him live twice and he’s just phenomenal. The older suhr modern AW signature guitar has been one of my dream guitars for years but dang they are still expensive even ten years later
man @andywoodmusic is an incredible musician, his guitar playing is second to none imho. He totally kills on shred, morse/EJ AND is equally devastating on blue grass/chickin' pickin'. I now own 3 suhr guitars and could not be happier. Sold 4 other guitars and I do not regret it. If you haven't heard Andy play you've gotta take a listen!
Great guitars.Ive had mine for a few years and it’s been great. Gig with it regularly. Stays in tune and sounds great. Best fret work in the game. I really want to try a SL68. The build quality looks great.
@@andywoodmusic By the way I’ve mentioned this to Shawn Tubbs before. I would love to see a g5 tour with you Pete Thorn Ian Thornley Shawn Tubbs and of course Joe Satriani. That would be an awesome show.

Fabulous interview & sensational addition to your product lines. Andy is an ideal rep for Suhr on so many different levels. An exceptional cat 🐈⬛ to boot! Remember he’s a mandolin player that plays electric guitar too!
9 Suhr Guitars and 2 John Suhr amps (CAA OD100 SE++ and PT100) and finally Sweetwater is now caring them! What took so long?! @Andywood is such a southern class act with incredible tone and playing! 29:43
Love my Classic Pro and every other Suhr I've played. Finally decided to order a custom Modern T... That was now over 19 months ago and still don't have it. Suhr definitely doesn't rush perfection 😂
I own a early made model new old stock 63 Suhr Strat ocean turquoise color alder body, rosewood fretboard, tinted maple satin finished neck, mint green pickguard, that is flawless. They have excellent quality and love their job, it’s the only way they can make products that good. 👍🎸😎✌️
It's about time that Suhr got a major dealer (Sweetwater) I've been using Suhr gear since 2011 (Classic S with push-pull pots, 1 to turn off the SSC, and 2 to split the bridge Humbucker. And a Badger 35 with a 2x12 cab) I hope Suhr has many sales with Sweetwater, it's all about quality control and John Suhr is one of the best in the music business.
The thing I would change on this is pickup selector placement… they should move it at least 1-inch away from the volume knob so it doesnt impede when switching toggle and/playing the volume knob.
THANKS! GREAT VIDEO!!! My buddy Jay Rockett moved to TN a couple of years ago. Hoping you and J.Rockett Audio Designs collaborate some day with their stuff and your stuff. God bless
Between Andy and Pete I am always at least interested in Suhr. I have not yet bought one but I will likely one day due to the trust in them not lying to the masses about quality. HH Wood or Alt T are calling me.
Fender is in trouble. Purchased a Suhr SSS, and had "no use" for my Vintage Fender Strat = Sold it. The Suhr played & sounded superior in every way-possible. oNe LovE from NYC
@@andywoodmusic Thanks for the heads up Andy! Yea I was in the rabbit hole of forums and came across Scott’s discussion on his Bella. Definitely a Dumble modded Bandmaster. I have a Bella coming in a few weeks and cannot wait to finally play on it.
Ferrari? Yeah, the common man’s drive. With all due respect to these guys, $3500 to $5000 is a price point many us can’t afford, or want to spend that much on a single guitar. I think bigger threat is to PRS, that has often been criticized for being “doctor/lawyer guitars”. Guessing Paul ain’t too happy about SW adding this product line.
I mean Sweetwater also carries Gibson. Go look at the prices for the Murphy Labs Les Pauls. $6k-$11k depending on how relic'd it is. Somebody is buying all these crazy expensive guitars. They wouldn't keep carrying them if they didn't sell.
Not every company sells budget guitars in their lineup. Given the amount of truly affordable guitars that are available to buy I don’t think that’s a valid argument against Suhr.
they could be unique in the guitar shapes... not copy pastE the tele, or strat. Since it's an amazing guitar, you must dare to create your own shape. Like Ibanez for example...
Clickbait infomercial. This video dedicated maybe 90 seconds to the history of John Suhr/Guitars. I love Sweetwater and Suhr guitars, but the title of the video was intentionally misleading. Disappointed and clicked off less than halfway through. Change the title. Be better than this, Sweetwater.

What taste Andy has, amazing feel and touch keep playing Andy !!!!!
Andy is such a monster player. Suhr is lucky to have him
Indeed! He's a true master.
Suhr has some monster players with Andy, Pete Thorn, Ian Thornley, Andre Nieri, Scott Henderson and many others. They make incredible products.
Definitely great list of guitarist there! They make great fenders.. @chrislestermusic

What about Pensa Suhr Guitars??? Ya know like the original I believe is owned by Reb Beach.
Was thinking the same thing 😂😅
I always thought the guitar was for The Rolling Stones’ Andy Wood. I’ve never heard of this guy.
🔥
Does anyone know if the intro he’s playing is a song of his and if so what the title is?
It’s called “Shoot the Sun Down” it’s the first track on my new album Charisma. It’s the next single, and the album drops august 9
I thought Suhr Bella was loosely based on a Dumble modified Band Master and a Dumble modded Tweed Twin?
It was Scott’s amp. I think it was a dumble modded bandmaster, I could’ve said bassman

You should never price mandolins and banjos. 3500 is entry level.
