Wow, 8 years ago. So I have Pulp and Bal d'Afrique from this house. Best of the house. For me, Pulp's fruitiness is of OVERRIPE fruit, NOT rotten fruit, and that is a critical difference. If it were rotten it would smell putrid. But it doesn't. Its tart n sweet. Its addictive and gives me this euphoric, dopamine flush when I smell it. Similar to when I smell gasoline, or a urinal cake, or taste one of those Monster caffeine drinks 😂. Gasoline is known to cause this dopamine rush when smelled because of - IIRC - benzene. Not saying Pulp has that in it but it weirdly has a similar euphoric rush effect. And Pulp's fruitiness seems highly concentrated and vivid, which the pulp part of fruit is supposed to be naturally, right? It's like when colors are very saturated and you say "that's the reddest red I've ever seen". Well, Pulp is the fruitiest fruit I've ever smelled. This is very photorealistic and natural. It's now my holy grail #1 scent of the Fruity genre. Tied for #1 with Bal d'Afrique as best of the Byredo house.

Composted melons fruits and fig. When I got a sample of this I loved it and had to have a bottle. Since then i hardly reach for it but it is one of my wife's all time favourites. Good to see Sebastian.

NO WAY!!! Daver and Sebastian?!!! What a coup! Love you both, abhore Pulp. I tried. I swear I tried to make friends with it. Alas, it utterly refused to shake hands with me and carried on being its violently detestable self. My favourite Byerdo is Seven Veils.
Hyden Royce haha! Can't win 'em all! ;) I really need to try Seven Veils. I hear good things. I really love Byredo overall. Even if I don't love every fragrance I've smelled, they still earn my respect.
Tried this stuff from Barney's and smelled from heaven. I got compliments from downtown street level in Chicago. Wife couldn't get enough of smelling it.
I literally love this one, and it does well on me. I sampled so many Byredo, and this was one that's like nothing else and was way better lasting than everything from the regular line. I never buy to get compliments as I really don't care, yet I have had people say they like this one, I LOVE it.

Looking Feeling Smelling Great LOL
I got a free sample of Pulp 3 years ago when I bought Flowerhead. I have immediately felt it was very special but not a fragrance I would have worn at work. During the last 3 years I wore Fracas, then Montale Intense Cafè. I was tired of flowers and I bought Deliria which is really fruity. Deliria made me want to buy Pulp. So i am now wearing Deliria and a layer of Pulp but only when i really want to smell something intensely fruity in summertime when i am back home after a day spent on the beach.

I don't get any rotting fruit out of this scent, it smells the same on my skin as it does from the bottle and the scent does not morph on my skin at all, I don't get apple or fig or currant ... funny how individual skin ph plays a role
Great review and thoughts--I'm finally sampling this one today and this was a nice accompaniment. A very interesting take that I agree is much more explosive in the opening and loses a little bit of its character in the dry down, but a great recreation of the smell of actual fresh fruit.
I have worn this, and I like it, a very realistic fruit fragrance. But as a guy, I think it seems MUCH more suited for a woman. Also, I don't get the "rotting" aspect, but to me seems very ripe. But not rotten.

great video guys. love both of your channels, I respect both of your opinions on this. pulp is such a unique take on a citrusy type scent but also has some backbone to it. you guys described it perfectly. Imho it's definitely worth a purchase if it can be found at a discount. gotta have Sebastian back again daver, I love both of your channels. keep up the good work gentleman.

Sine Die (L.M.) is identical to Pulp: exotic, tasty, ripe, clean, elegant. A great fragrance.
Great job guys... However I am not a fan of this one... I think this fragrance smells like bug spray... I don't know what it is about this one that gives it that vibe but it just does... Something gives it this bug spray vibe... I like quite a few other fragrances from this house but not this one... Glad I only got in on a split of it... ^_^ Wonderful review all the same both of you as always...

Well about the review. This is a good one. I am on my second bottle . Really good for summer. I believe this is the only fruity scent that lasts 8 to 10 hrs. Nice review guys!!
I actually love the sour/rotten notes here:-). I'm going to put it through the test in the Caribbean in a few weeks. I love the SOUR twist Pulp brings to my collection. this is one of the few Byredo scents that's not gone in 60 seconds!! I Get about 9 plus hours with 5 sprays!
Pulp has a similar vibe to Exquise by Parfums De La bastide.
Love at first sniff. Was expecting George but Seb is a cool dude too.

Maybe instead of "rotten" fruit...overripe? I know that when bananas, cherries, etc. get to the last day that they're edible, they're usually at their sweetest, but they smell very pungent and take on a different texture.

How long does the good, unique, fruity smell last? You said how long the scent lasts overall, but how long does the good part last?

Haven't smelled this one, but I've smelled Bal D'Afrique..great smell, but not sure if I want to buy it based on longevity.. I'm receiving samples soon for Oud Immortel and Baudelaire, do you like either of those? I noticed Jer enjoyed the Immortel :)

Did you ever try Cannabis Santal by Fresh? It's one of my faves and reminds me of A*men sort of but with way more patchouli.

Rotting fruit and spit. Yet you like it. This confuses me yet makes me want to try it. I definitely wouldn't buy it without trying it first.
David Childers haha yeah it's not a fragrance I would recommend blind buying. I actually don't think it's polarizing. It just has a weird note in there.
Hm, seems like I'm lucky: I get about 20 hours of longevity and that nuclear rotten fruit vibe never really vanishes. One of the strongest perfumes I ever owned.

HATE this stuff! I get forever in terms of longevity too. Really really tried, but each time I couldn't wait to scrub it off. Unbelievably powerful on me too.

I don't get the ripe fruit smell. It smells like a bunch of girls in a room wearing bath and body lotions with grass thrown in the mix. I like it, though.

I hated this one. It's unique but also overrated. It's almost as if people give it higher praise for being unique rather than for actually smelling good. I would never want to smell like this rotting fruit. A real scrubber.
Ann Z. I think that's an interesting point. I personally always give higher marks to a fragrance if it seems unique. But that's just part of my personal subjectivity. I think others might agree with me. But I also find this a very pleasant scent too.
