1.Japanese concerts don’t allow phones, all of them are wrist lights and 2. one of One ok Rocks big inspirations is Linkin Park as well as Taka singing at the tribute concert for Chester 3. Taka was sick and they had to take a 30 minute delay and this was the encore
He covered Adele's "hello" and I cried the first time I heard it. Not only is his voice awesome but he expresses so much emotion and purposely includes there fans so they can participate.
interesting fact, Taka was actually sick during this performance. The show was almost canceled due to that. Some good ones to check out, his cover of Adele's Hello, also he did a cover with Open Arms with Arnel Pineda from Journey. Also a pretty interesting mini documentary of the writing of the song Renegades which was cowritten by Ed Sheeran. This band is absolutely amazing.
That makes sense. It sounded less like he was trying to do Fry at the beginning of those notes, and more like he was highlighting the first subharmonic with his residence. I know that happens quite a bit to me when I am not feeling well, or have just been practicing my subharmonic vocal quite a bit that day, as both end up leaving my false cords more liable to resonate at half speed. Honestly, a majority of people that I have actually heard speaking accidentally introduce it at certain frequencies. I only started picking it up because I have been learning how to sing with subharmonics, but it's absolutely nuts just the amount of accidental awesome vocal techniques that a significant portion of individuals end up incorporating into their speech without even being aware of it
I'm Japanese and my friends attend this concert. Concert was delayed 45 minutes. Because Taka was sick and he couldn't speak. MD was with him backstage and took care of him. We couldn't believe he made it for more than two hour concert.
What a surprise to see Taka on this channel! He's an amazing vocalist. Intense, emotional, and still so on-point technique wise. If you want to listen to one of his heavier performances, I recommend their song "Liar"! An absolute favourite of mine. And, old but still my favourite of theirs - "et cetera." (Fun fact and also me being a nerd - their band name is pronounced "one o'clock"! It's a clever word play based on the Japanese way of transcribing foreign words that allowed them to keep 'rock' in their name.)
Taka and his voice 🥹 is heaven. You should see more of him doing live performances. And oh before I forgot, he was actually not feeling well at this concert and This song is the last song in the encore. Pls react to The Beginning in eye of the storm tour.
Having seen them live Taka is an incredible vocalist. I had goosebumps the whole time. He’s so powerful and versatile it’s awesome to watch. I’d highly suggest watching The Beginning or Take What you Want.
YES!!! This band!!!! Thank you! Taka is literally incredible. Listen to One Way Ticket/Clock Strikes (field of wonder version). The high note...THE HIGH NOTE!! haha for real, it's amazing
Taka's voice is simply a gift. I rarely go to concerts, but got my ticket to OOR concert in Jakarta this coming September. Hearing him and the band live is my bucket list for years.
when you said chester i got teary eyed. they were my first favorite band ever and now one ok rock fills that spot and i just love takas voice sooo much 😢🥹 actually one ok rock and linkin park were good friends! actually one ok rock were supposed to tour with them a few weeks after Cheater died❤🥺
I have been listening to this band for so long and still freaking love them. I would highly suggest you react to Taka singing solo a cover of Adele's "Hello." It's so beautiful & honestly my favorite version of that song.
Loved this video! Very in-depth analysis. I really hope you get the chance to see OOR live when they tour with Muse. (OOR is not opening on all tour dates so be careful; I'm sad they're not opening when my cousins will be attending in Oakland.) It's not enough to just call Taka an amazing vocalist. The things he can do with his voice and the emotions he evokes are just so good. At this performance at Tokyo Dome, Taka was actually a little bit sick, which added an extra little raspiness that I think makes the song even more emotional. You mentioned him reminding you of Chester, and actually the band was supposed to tour with Linkin Park before Chester's untimely passing. At Chester's tribute concert, Taka sang "Somewhere I Belong," but he was really nervous and wasn't quite able to sing to his potential. Really hope you check out more of ONE OK ROCK's music and post more videos! Would love to hear what you have to say.
I don’t know much ab music theory etc, but I always find those analysis so intersting 😍 I’m glad you liked OOR so much, they are a great band. Taka said once, that he’s greatful to his parents for his genes, bc he got the high-ness of his voice from his mother and the power of his voice from his father (both singers, in diffrent genre) - yes, his voice was amazing to begin with, but he also improved a lot during those 17 years on stage ❤️ Things with amazing voice you should totally check out: “TAKING OFF” Studio Jam Session (specifically this acustic version) also: Good goodbye (Saitama Superarena) and perhaps Clock Strikes, Take what you want, and if you wanna see him scream, One by One xD
Taka singing an emotional song when he was a bit younger. He sings with great emotional timing using his voice. Taka’s singing reminds me of his Mother Mori Masako singing with her emotional voice and emotional timing in the way she sings her songs. ua-cam.com/video/cn_cQpyEqFg/v-deo.html
The fact you made the almost immediate connection with Taka’s voice and Chester Bennington is incredible because he actually performed with Linkin park for the Chester Bennington tribute he sang Somewhere I Belong and I think he did a tribute with his own band to one more light. Taka has talked previously that Chester was a big influence in him becoming a vocalist and One Ok Rock was one of the openers for Linkin Park during their one more light tour before the tour was cancelled after Chester’s death.
I can't believe you reviewed Taka's vocals, been loving One Ok Rock for 6 years now, fantastic video!! Taka's style of vocals sparked my interest to pursue singing and that's why I've signed up to 'Discover Your Voice' course to start on my vocal journey, thankyou!!
He can do just straight up screams as well. Check out songs like deeper deeper and a large chunk of their early catalogue (no scared, 完全感覚dreamer) if you want to hear that!
Another live rendition of this that I think is transformative for this song, is a video they have with a HUGE choir singing along with them. That's the best version of this song to watch/listen to. I get chills every time I watch it. If you search "One Ok Rock - We Are 18Fes" it'll come up. So good!
When u explain it now it make so much sense, i always feel like Taka’s voice is on the edge to break but that never happens 😆 and that two sounds, clear+distortion i agree!! Been trying to find the right word. You should try Mighty Long Fall or Deeper Deeper 😁
What a great analysis! Now I really want you to react to One Ok Rock "Good Goodbye" 35xxxv tour live from Saitama Arena, or "Take What You Want" live from Ambitions Japan Dome Tour. Taka (vocalist) does amazing chest voice-head voice-vocal fray switch in those performances, it's so emotional to hear.
Taka's voice is so early and couldn't listen to other bands for a while when I found this band couple of years ago. Please check out their other stuff too, this band is just awesome! They are literally hidden gem.
Your analysis was really amazing. I know that Taka's voice is remarkable but when you talked about it, it really shows what an amazing vocalist he is. I really hope you listen to more songs because he can sing in different genres and still sound so good. I am glad that you discovered Taka and One OK Rock and other commenters have pointed out songs that you should listen to. Actually Taka's cover of Adele's Hello is how many people have discovered how good his voice really is.

So cool seeing Japanese music here Also I guess someone else probably asked this before but are you planning to make a video on Toru Kitajima aka TK? The way he creates that raw, slightly "whiny", sharp whispery quality to his voice, his way of screaming and all that Preferably as part of his band, Ling tosite sigure, it's somewhat underrated because of how much coverage his solo work gets
I'm glad you checked OOR. I became a fan ever since I heard them from the movie Rurouni Kenshin (live action). It's also nice you explained a lot about Taka's voice, their performance as a whole.
Went to 2 of their last concerts, let me tell you : they are even better live. His voice is better I'm not kidding. And he also has fun and makes the notes last twice longer at the end and shit. Runs around the whole show, and even went to the crowd (security was going bananas trying to keep him on his damn stage 😅). He stopped once for a light interlude that's it. Some of the best concerts of my life. Crazy. (First row too 🤯)
Wow! I never knew Taka's vocal techniques (or I would say gymnastics 😄) are this way too complicated to comprehend, but this guy explained it so well. All I know is that Taka has been gifted with a clear and distinct voice, great vocal pipes and an extraordinary lungs 😄 that is rare, he's truly a vocal and musical genius with how he expertly control his voice to sound so stable despite all the running and screaming on stage and make it look so easy like he's just breathing air or drinking water😂.
Love this band ❤ I am huge fan !! Thank you for your reaction/analysis. I recommand : Good goodbye live, Renegades piano (you will see Taka angelic voice there), Heartache studio jam session…
I've seen them 6 times and going to see them in March when they open for Muse :) Also Taka's (vocal) parents and little brother are singers so check them out too please :)
Taka is one of my favorite singers in any genre. It's also really cool how effortlessly he writes songs in 2 different languages.
Ya that is super cool!
Every song gave me goosebumps love them so much ❤❤❤❤
Taka is the reason I wanted to be a singer.. Dude is absolutely phenomenal
He’s the reason why I’m the vocalist for my band :)

Runs around the whole show, and even went to the crowd (security was going bananas trying to keep him on his damn stage 😅). He stopped once for a light interlude that's it.
Some of the best concerts of my life. Crazy. (First row too 🤯)
OOR is amazing
You should 100% react to the live version of Clock Strikes from that same show too! Phenomenal
I recommend you ‘The beginning’ by one ok rock it’s really nice one and taka’s live was splendid
Love this band ❤ I am huge fan !! Thank you for your reaction/analysis. I recommand : Good goodbye live, Renegades piano (you will see Taka angelic voice there), Heartache studio jam session…
the song one ok rock-that what you want live ,is beautiful
Try listening to the acoustic redoing of Taking Off - it’s pure beauty with Taka’s voice.❤
