If I remember correctly, the 1 minute long moment of silence was for Chester Bennington. Chester was a HUGE inspiration to Taka. They knew each other, had multiple interactions and were supposed to perform together not long after Chester passed away.
the 1 minute moment of silence is to underline the words coming after, "can you hear me? im trying to hear you, silence strikes like a hurricane" as if the silence of one minute was hard to endure
Every time when someone said Taka (or OOR)'s voice reminds them Chester Bennington, I'm sooo glad to hear that. Cuz Taka respects Chester and OOR had a special relationship w/ Linkin Park.
I'm japanese and I've read some of his interviews. He was born as a son of famous singer in japan(called Mori Shin-ichi an Enka singer) and was told to keep his voice in his childhood, so he had naturally known how to pull out his best voice without learning theory of mixed voice and such. Also he said that ''I can't figure out why i can sing like this and in high note." There in Japan are great rock or pop singers like Taka(Masato of COLDRAIN, Shinya Ishihara from Saucy Dog, Satoshi Fujihara from Official Hige Dandism, etc…). If interested, please listen! Sorry for my poor English…
I never get tired of watching people geek out over Takas vocals I'm gonna be that good someday I love the emotions he releases while simultaneously having this huge range and agility
The fact thet this man cried after covering Linkin Park at the memorial concert, because he felt that his peroformance wasn't good enough to honor him, speaks volumes. He is a great artist who takes his craft very seriously.
When he is subtle and soft it's extreme and when he is aggressive it's extreme... he is really pretty amazing . most aggressive singers struggle to be subtle and vise versa.
Thanks for your insight into his vocal technique! We fans know hes great but you give us the vocabulary to describe his greatness. Would like to point out that Taka's voice wasn't the best at this concert since he was sick. There are definitely other live performances that would be good to react to, as well as his cover of Adele's Hello - the perennial favourite for YT reactors.
from JAPAN💌
and just that the fact that he wasnt happy with his performance bc he was sick is just amazing. like i wasnt able to hear it! only after i read it.... 🤯 god i love his voice
What could've been if Taka actually got to tour with Chester. Those two are a few of my all-time favorite vocalists and you can definitely hear the influence. Their respective bands all together would've been a complete monster of a performance.
they were supposed to. It got cancelled because of Chester's death. But he did sing with LP during the memorial concert, albeit it isn't his best performance, he was really nervous and had too much pressure on him.
I love, love how educational your reactions are. I'm a big OOR fan. I would love to hear your break down of some of Taka's older songs. Like Mighty long fall Liar Deeper Deeper
I love your vocal analysis of this song, you’re saying all the things that I’m thinking & wow yes Taka has one hell of a voice & as a singer myself his range, tone, & the length of time he can hold a note with zero strain, is insanely good! In this song in particular, his voice is put in front of the music & allows the listener to really listen & feel! Everything about this arrangement & performance was exceptional!
Finally, I’m so happy that Taka is getting more attention and appreciation for his vocals. It’s been 4 years since I discovered them, but his vocals still make me so emotional
Back in my senior year my art teacher heard me playing LP and started a preaching to the class about how that music is essentially "bad" and those vocals are just ppl yelling randomness. I argued back, of course. Never have I changed my mind about Chester being on of the greatest! Glad you're implying Take is up there too....My 2nd fav vocalist I draw my motivation/inspiration from
I'm a singer and every time I went to freak out about something Taka did with his voice, Chris reacted the exact same way I did and I'd respond to him like we were having a conversation lmao, love this reaction video!
I was just impressed by their singing voice, but I am glad to know their technique as singers through your consideration. Right now they are in the middle of their Japan tour, 10 shows in stadiums with 50,000 people and I couldn't get tickets. I was the 800th on the waiting list, so I gave up. Glad to share on your channel 🌱🌱
You should also listen to MISIA, the Japanese diva who ignited the R&B boom in Japan in the 1990's. With a five-octave voice, she is popular in Asia and sang the national anthem at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. I recommend the song "Higher Love" from The First Take channel🎵
He got a special voice, even when he is screaming, I don't feel uncomfortable and still early. Few singers can do that. Please react to them "Good goodbye"" live version.
Ok this just SOLD me on you and your content 😂🙈 yeah I'll be enjoying their concerts way more and I'll definitely ask my teacher if she can show me a few techniques to get that grit and rasp in there 🙈
Both his parents were Enka singers, he was apart of journeys, which is like a boy band training camp, so he grew up rich, but b/c of problems with his dad and parents divorcing he left home at 16 or 18, resulting in this song, Toru, the electric guitarist, stalked him at the restaurant he was working at and they made one ok rock as a result
I am loving even more his voice than I already did cause you are stripping it into these gorgeous pieces of vocal theory I don't really know about at all You are really cool too
I used to hate this song when it came out..Thought it was too poppy at the time. Then went to go see One Ok Rock live...Taka sang his guts out.. now i love the song lol. Taka sings that song with the same emotion almost every time..Dude is unreal.

I think this was the show where Taka was actually sick and the show almost didn't go on. I can't believe he was able to sound like this, and it brought out one of the most touching and vulnerable shows they've ever done.

This is awesome. Is there a little bit of live tuning going on it this? It kinda has that sound to me, although it might be tuning on the reverb. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, I'm guessing it's there to get that modern vocal sound people are used to hearing.
One of the least offensive uses of tuning I've heard in a while. I actually like hearing voices wobble in and out a little. I'd really like to hear this without tuning

What kind of delay or reverb effect is it used to get that kind of sustain? Specially in that long note of the song. You should resume those tutorials where you address that kind of things Chris, not only from the singing perspective but also production.

One of the least offensive uses of tuning I've heard in a while. I actually like hearing voices wobble in and out a little. I'd really like to hear this without tuning
Thank you 😊 I love Taka's voice with One Ok Rock ❤ Auto-tuning in the comments??😢 Their live performances are amazing!! (Adele Hello Cover Bye From One Ok Rock) Please listen 🎵
What kind of delay or reverb effect is it used to get that kind of sustain? Specially in that long note of the song. You should resume those tutorials where you address that kind of things Chris, not only from the singing perspective but also production.
Chris liepe One ok rock just released a new song called make it out alive just a day ago.
