I’m going to use something you said at the beginning of this video as my new mantra when evaluating bikes: “Normal riding, at normal speeds, on normal roads”. It’s simple and concise but says a great deal and will be a necessary reminder to me when marketing hype can cloud a decision.
Exactly, the normal rider is paying a premium for the extra stiffness that their normal power output does not require - and ending up with a worse ride quality as a result.
I ride a 2023 Dogma F, also with Princeton wheels (6560 Strada, not the 4550’s as here). I KNOW it’s one of the worst value bikes, but god damn, I love it and cherish it, which makes me ride way more, further, faster, happier. I’d imagine the new version is marginally better and would recommend it to anyone debating it. Stupid expensive? Yes. What’s the cost of an ear to ear smile though?
I couldn't agree more! I currently have the Dogma F12 with the Envy Wheelset. It also makes me push harder and ride more. I lost a few nights of sleep when I first bought it, but I have no regrets.
This is, by far, the BEST review of the new Dogma F by anyone, out there ! Well done !!! After a 8 month wait, the three boxes from a very good source in Bergamo, Italy arrived and my friend who owns a small bike shop and I assembled my 2013/2014 Dogma F with Campagnolo Super Record wireless, Campagnolo Shamal carbon wheels, Vittoria Corsa N.EXT 700 x 28 tubeless tyres. In the Speedster Silver pearlescent silver and glossy black paint it is absolutely beautiful ! I am not Tom Pidcock descending at 100 kmph, so the aerodynamic improvements of the new 2015 Dogma F don't really matter to me. I think my "last year's" frameset actually looks better. For sizing, I am 177 cm tall and the Dogma 540 size is perfect with 2 cm of spacers under the Talon Ultra stem. I found some New Old Stock Campagnolo Record pedals to match my shoes and other bikes. Instead of the Pinarello MOST cages which are tricky to put the bottle back in, I have a pair of the SILCA (from Indianapolis USA) titanium tube cages. The tubing is what is used for the hydraulic lines on the GE turbine helicopter engines which are also manufactured in Indianapolis. Having ridden a rental Dogma F with Dura Ace Di2 in the Italian Alps, the handling of the bike is super smooth, responsive and well behaved whether you are climbing, descending or just riding on the flat. I hope to still be riding my Dogma F for the next 20 or 25 years.
My first pro level bike was a Pinarello with Campy, year was 1992. Last year I thought my last road bike should be s Pinarello but the C$17,000 price tag killed that idea. After lots of research and with Davids videos helping I bought a very sensible Roubaix SRAM AXS, could not be happier…
I'm no expert tester but your comments on the bike match my experience of riding the previous Dogma F and F12. At the more normal speeds I ride at (17 - 20mph on the flat), the bike feels uninspiriing. Not to say it's boring, but it lacks excitement unless you are going much much faster. Other bikes like the Tarmac SL8 are more involving at lower speeds
I have an 8 year old Tarmac, the Amira women's version. I bought it second hand from a shop in Hereford. It hada ton of upgrades on it and I could not help but buy it. When I get on it I just want to go fast. Its incredible how good it feels. It would be lovely to have a pinarello but... Its a hefty tag!

Customers/haters questioning the weight? Fine, new carbon fiber that is stiff as a board is also light as air. I have an F... and if you're looking for a do it all really damn good race bike, you cant beat them. Instant acceleration Handles just like a MotoGP bike.. insanely precise. Climbs like a mountain goat thanks to that massive BB area/Keel Downsides - Cost a fortune, wandering front wheel at slower speeds (but why are you going slow on a Pina?) and parts hard to come by.
A Pinarello Dogma is like a Ducati Panigale superbike - not pretending to be some thing else but pure performance, stiff, feedback from the tarmac beneath, taste the speed and let the adrenaline rush come over you and looks sexy and fast even standing still. If you want comfort get a Dogma X or a Honda.
I have one kislux bag I got in 2019, it's the LV white catogram speedy. It's counter quality and it has a nice honey patina now, so the leather is real. I think whatever makes you happy go for it. I've seen LV with plastic leather and blood red glaze...
The fact this fast aero 'race' bike comes with a compact should tell you what crowd the build is really aimed at, its the 'look at me and how amazing I look with this flash handbag' crowd.
Definitely a rich middle aged man's bike for sure , I guess it makes you look like you know what your doing 🤣 but on the other hand ,if you can afford it why not have a tasty 14k bike
lol quite the opposite really. Even some pro riders use compact chainrings on the big mountain stages. Just to name one as an example, at the 2023 Giro Geraint Thomas had a compact on some of the mountain stages. Not everyone can be Tadej Pogacar. You probably live in a really flat area.

Bikes like this are fast and 50/34 compact is too easy for normal riding, the pro's might slap one on for a novelty climbing stage, then go back to 54/42 or bigger for everything else. The point being, if the rider needs a compact then they probably don't need this bikes stiffness and would probably end up faster if they were on something more comfortable, as they'd be more likely to extend their training rides instead of being fatigued after 3hrs.
@@nellyx1x493I have a 2023 Dogma with 52/36 and 11/34 in the back. I’ve put 1,200 watts through the bike at 80kg and the stiffness is extremely appreciated, even at far lower power outputs. You really notice it during fast group rides that border on low end crit races where you have to lay down big efforts to stay in the wheel, for example.
Finally, I really like the appearance of the Dogma, especially in this color. So, I suppose in the car world, a Dogma F would be a Koenigsegg, right? Or is it more like the Ferrari at 13:19? 😁
Hi Dave, 28mm tryes tubeless an a low pressure of 50psi. I run 32mm on my bikes, with tubes and at 40psi. No issues and no hassle of tubeless. 32mm tyres for road riding is the new standard. I'm a complete convert. Stopped riding my older race bike with rim brakes and only max tyre size of 27mm.
Great review Dave really value your impressions. I'm not a racer and prefer more of a "do it all" type of bike. I've are Tarmac SL8 and it ticks that box for me. It's a pity the Pinarello is not on trend by better accommodating wider tyres. Again, thanks for your review. As an aside, when you initially reviewed the Madone you indicated you were reserving your final impressions bending getting in on your home turf for a ride. Any indication when that might be on the cards?
I have reserved one of this in our local bike shop in luxter red, how is the stiffness? I know its a few hundred grams heavier than the tarmac but I heard this is stiffer so it likely to have better power transfer than sl8
Does it really matter if you feel beat up after 100 km? Unless you are killing it at the local Cat 1 races you are better off saving the weight and walking away from long rides while still comfortable

For me, it's clearly a bike for people in midlife crisis, apart from the pros. But what would interest me: do you know in what ratio the drivetrains are ordered? SRAM, Shimano or Campagnolo?
I like the color on it, dont like the forward seatpost thats out of alignment with the seat tube (like on my F5 thats on the same alignment plane). I wonder if it bb/crank:rear stays is more stiff and accelerates better. My F5 (also 6.8kg) is the same frame as the outgoing dogma and its super complaint BUT it just doesnt have that instantaneous snap acceleration even with my crazy light custom wheels... id rather it be rigid and buzzy but accelerate than comfy and sluggish.
Common is ugly like hell, check this bottom bracket area?!! Paint job is dull, where is Italian soul!! There are plenty of nicer bikes, cheaper and better then this. Canyon, Factor, Giant they all much better looking bikes. I would not take this bike for free…

The head tube is one thing, but the arcing top tube is another. Pinarello lost their amazing designs. It looks too wonky. If we're talking italian bikes with that price range, I'd rather buy the C68.

The demographic and choices made by the folks where I live are very different. That said, I don’t disagree with some of the things said. Even now I’m starting to think that moving forward, a good ole custom titanium metal frame would be a better choice for my forever bike over constantly changing carbon frames.

The demographic and choices made by the folks where I live are very different.
That said, I don’t disagree with some of the things said. Even now I’m starting to think that moving forward, a good ole custom titanium metal frame would be a better choice for my forever bike over constantly changing carbon frames.

This bike does not appeal,you can buy Superior bikes X-Road team elite Di2 105 for $2400 albeit heavier but I'm sure it rides the similar,absolute ridiculous price for this Dogma.Not for me thanks.💯👌🏻✌🏻🚴♂️
