His name is Charles Grey, he was in the British Movie "The Devil Rides Out" with Sir Christopher Lee (A real life SAS Hero that served in WW2) but yes Charles Grey was doing the Narration for the Audience and had no interaction with the Cast, he was edited in afterwards and nobody knew that until much later during an interview and despite being a serious Actor starred in many Movies he really loved doing Comedy, like the Black Comedy "The House In Nightmare Park" (1973) with Frankie Howard who also Starred in the Carry On Movies with Kenneth Williams, Charles Hawtree (I think I spelt his surname wrong) Joan Sims and Sidney "Sid" James.

When this movie first came out on 1975, it actually failed at the box office and was considered a bomb. But when the movie was shown at midnight theatres instead, it became very popular and as a result, it’s now considered one of the greatest musicals of all time.

I saw this for the first time in 1976 in a small auditorium at a college, with just a handful of people in the audience, and I wondered what the heck this was all about. Three years later I was the emcee for the first regular midnight showing at a theater, handling the costume contest on the stage, with my hair bleached white and wearing a white tuxedo.

About 20 years ago I was bass guitarist in a jazz band in the city of Tauranga, New Zealand ... the saxophone player happened to be the older brother of Richard O'Brien who turned up one night to our weekly gig while on holiday from the UK. The band gave him the stage and an electric guitar along with the drummer and myself. After ripping through some good old 1950s Rock n Roll
suddenly he was playing and singing the Time Warp song and I was in utter disbelief that I was backing the genius who not only wrote that incredible song but the whole marvellous show.

Apparently the late night features shown at that theatre gave him the inspiration for Rocky Horror. On the site where the theatre stood there is now a statue of Richard in his Riff Raff role.

Sadly Dr Neil McKenzie passed away a few years later from cancer and the band ended. Listening to this takes me back to a warm spring Friday night in 1979. Me and a friend from high school went to the midnight showing at the Little Village Theater in Grosse Point Michigan. Two 17 year olds watching the audience dressed up and singing, throwing toast, holding newspapers over their heads and everyone wearing lingerie even a lot of guys. Totally overwhelming and fascinating and hilarious. The whole world was opening up and we were just starting our adult lives. Graduating that spring and joining the Marines seems a million miles away and a long long time ago. Damn I’m old!

Some friends took me to see Rock Horror for the first time in 1979 or so in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and did not tell me anything about it other than it was about a bisexual transvestite from outer space. When people started lighting lighters, throwing toast, shooting water pistils and everything, I freaked out (You can't do that in a theater!) . By the end of the movie, I was hooked and saw it several more times, got the dvd and even performed this song in a nightclub where I worked part time as a drag queen. I've also performed Science fiction double feature and I can make you a man (including reprise) and can finally do the time warp without messing it up. In the scene after Columbia sings her part, when it shows the Transylvanians lined up, the one second from the end is the performer who every one said I resembled the most.
