One of the things I like about this song is that it's such a departure from the typical pop song where the guy leaves the girl behind. It's actually a empowering song for woman. Not so sure if this freedom brought them much happiness however- but definitely captures the spirit of the era quite well.

I love both versions, but as you said the fifth d was a little more up tempo.
I like this version...it tells the story.....I love the 5th dimension, but its a bit too quick for the story!
