  • Firms tend to go through a whole process in order to decide how best to divide up and conquer their market. The STP Process or Segmentation, Targeting, and Positioning process is how firms systematically divde up their potential customers, determine which segment of their market they will target with product or service offerings, then determine how best to position themselves to take advantage of that target market.

    Thanks Mark. One of the things that took me some time to really understand is staying focused on your core markets. As a small business chasing a wide variety of projects & clients can be interesting but this also tends to confuse customers as to what really is your brand and expertise.

      Exactly. I try to explain this to my small start ups I work with. They just want to do it all and I try to jeep them focused
