Great lesson and love your comment that students taking online classes that are expected to just read a textbook, this will help. I'm an auditory learner so your lectures help me grasp the content. Thank you!!!
According to Philip Kotler, market segmentation is defined as "the process of dividing a market into distinct groups of buyers who have different needs, characteristics, or behaviors and who might require separate marketing strategies or mixes."
Yes that is a fine definition - the thing that many student do not understand is what a need is versus a want - as such they can misunderstand this definition - also what a behavior actually is - both parts of this definition requires an understanding of psychology as he is using psychological premises in this definition
Oh my gosh thank you so much for your kind words - positioning is such an important part of marketing plan - it will make or break your product it not positioned correct and if an organization does not understand the attribute demanded by the customer - again thank you for the high praise - I do wish we could up date video without losing viewership numbers (important to get into suggestion video list) - love to add about SNS systems and position - maybe a future video

I mostly hide on the internet. Unfortunately, there is a professional risk of using social media as a college professor, as such I made the decision early on not to have public social media accounts. I do have an Instagram account but that is mostly to monitor a company I am researching for a potential book (I am finding writing much harder than teaching). Does your company have a website, I can back track contact that direction? For anyone who reads this, understand my choice not to have public accounts across the various platforms is different than not understanding the potential of the platforms.
It is a textbook and I last I checked I am not permitted to say without paying the company. Sorry, I do not make enough to afford the publisher fees. Of course if someone else says what textbook it is (it is popular textbook), I cannot do anything about that. LOL

by meeting the needs of their consumer - why, because if business can't meet the need then consumer will not consume the product, service, or idea - if there is not satisfaction then there is rejection
This will be depend on the industry, government policies and barriers to entry. If a company has been given a monopoly then segmentation will not be allowed. Additionally, as you know, high barriers to entry can restrict entry. Being that I live on the space coast of the United States, barriers to entry to the space industry, both based on cost and government regulations has produced very strong barriers to entry. While I do not mind debating concept of marketing or assisting students with questions, I would ask politely that my channel not be used to solicit people to a non-academic web site.
