I do think Gabrielle driving would make her feel her age and be more independent. She would make more friends and get out there and meet people and drive alone and really step into adulthood.
No worries Gabrielle! Not everyone wants their license right on the dot at 16. You do you! What is most important is being confident behind the wheel.
My daughter turned 18 this year as well and not interested in driving. Kids these days don't find it as important. When she goes off to college in the fall, she won't need it anyway, living in the dorms and she can always catch a ride from a friend who does drive. I would prefer my daughter drive when she is confident and ready, not just because she is 16.
Yes my son turned 18 last year he has ADHD and mild autism he's not in a hurry to drive especially as he has special needs
Two out of three of my kiddos did not get licensed to drive until 18. I was happy to drive them where needed. 16 year olds have enough going on with school, hormones and peer pressure without the added task of driving.

There's pro's of learning to drive young and pro's of learning to drive a couple of years later, it doesn't rally matter. I would advise you to take some lessons with an instructor for parking and stuff, because I've seen a little too many young American girls that can drive just fine, but can't park.
I was 18 when I got my licence and took lessons from a driving school. That lunch looked really good! Jagger is adorable. ❤
I’ve always had horrible driving anxiety. I have my license for emergencies. But if the pandemic has taught me anything, I’m pretty sure the only place I can’t Uber to is a veterinarian office lol 😂 and groceries can be delivered

The drivers test now is actually different. Obviously it's been 15-20 years ago lol. Some of the signs I didn't recognize. Lol.
I got my driver's license at 51. There are lives at stake. Drive when you are confident and ready not when other people feel you should it is you behind the wheel.
I am in my 30s and still don't have my driver's license, but I am starting to take steps towards getting it. I don't think that there's a wrong time to get a driver's license.

I was lucky enough to to live in a rural area. My dad bought me an old used gas powder golf cart for my birthday one year. I drove it so much in our big yard for years. That is the ONLY reason why felt comfortable learning to drive a regular car at 16. Plus, boys! I wanted to go hangout with boys. I was willing to go through any driving anxiety for that. 😆

My aunt didn’t get her drivers license until she was 20
I didn’t get my license until I was 25 and I didn’t really drive independently until I was 28
During Gabrielle's senior year of being homeschooled, she's already missed the homecoming. She has to miss the prom. I wasn't in the homecoming contest in my senior year, but I enjoyed being at the prom. I was grateful that I was never homeschooled. She's old enough to learn how to drive. Oh! I've seen the Olsen twin movie called "Getting There" where their characters were prepped to drive on a road trip at 16 years old. I failed the driver's ed test in health/safety class. I don't even drive, but I'm grateful that I go places while being a passenger.
I understand where you are coming from. I mean it was her choice. A lot of programs have their own events too, so I do not think she will miss it all completely. Sometimes, schools even allow you to join in on one near you.

I’m 23 and licensed. I didn’t get my license till I was 20 and during the pandemic. I got my license exactly 2 months before my 21st birthday. I didn’t want to drive during my high school days because it wasn’t important to me and I was always able to catch rides with friends that were licensed.
I'm 45 without a driver's license. I use public transportation and walk. Be careful with your Paltone device there have been accidents with little children.
Just for thought everyone on here saying it’s ok to wait.?? What if there’s ever a life or death situation and dependent on someone to drive?? They would die because no one knows how to drive😮

I can’t drive due to medical leave. But my mom took me anywhere.
For me as a German follower it´s super interesting how American teenagers are doing their drivers license. In Germany you go to a driving teacher´s office, get some information and lessons there as well as getting the actual driving lessons. And you have to pay for the theoretical and practical exam.
In Georgis you have to do that. Unless your 18

In my country we are not even allowed to get our drivers license until we are 18. We can only start practice when we are 16. I think it is weird that Americans can start driving at 16 but can't drink until they are 21 haha.

I heard Sacramento got flooded pretty bad. I live in like 4 hours from Sacramento and thankfully didn’t get hit too bad.
I watched the news about the Atmospheric River that's hit California multiple times, causing flooding. I'm currently from Georgia. The weather hasn't rained too much.
I turned 18 in September as well and I also don’t drive. I lost like 2 years of my life cuz of Covid and I just graduated

In Ireland you get your permit at 17 and then full 18 so most don’t drive till later. Also small population makes insurance for under 25 sooo expensive. I started driving at 22 after college when I got my first proper job as I could afford a car. Not unusual for someone from the capital Dublin. Sure I lived about 4 miles from downtown.

Same thing happened to my mom only it wasn’t as bad. A Deer ran themselves into her car. No problems with insurance that I know of. Just wanted you to know your not alone.
I had my drivers lic at age 16 so after school I could go to work and help my family. My dad taught me to drive on a back road. At age 10 first by sitting in his lap.
The hilarious thing is that he prompted you to tell the deer story in another video a long time ago and in that video _also_ interjected to say you'd just dropped him off because you'd wrecked the other car. This is apparently one of his favorite stories.

I know a lot of people that didn't get their license until they were 18 or 19. If Gabrielle goes away to college it might be a good idea to get her license sometime this year.

Don't feel bad, a deer ( a doe) hit my husband to on the side , she ended up breaking her neck so he kept the deer, she was tasty.
I did not get my permit until I was 19 years old. I like that she's taking her time. She needs to do it only when she's ready to do it.
