Kills me every time. And that he was sick with the flu and running a temperature during the performance...just amazing.
I will never get tired of watching people react to this song. First they are blown away by the beauty of his voice. Then he starts to build it up and they are like ohh what's coming?
A little growl!? Did I like that!? I think I did!
The he starts to really let it out and really growls and controls the beauty and you can literally tell when the chills kick in.
One of the best vocal performances you will ever hear.
Also one of the greatest songs ever written from a lyrics standpoint.
That tiny little bit of autotune makes me cringe every time in this live version though because he didn't need it.
@@TwistedSisler Nor did he want it. He was sick & " they " decided to use autotune. He was furious afterwards.
David Draiman....one of the best vocalist's on the planet!! Talent and voice control is unbelievable!
Yep One Of The Greatest Voices In The World
"Is this really his voice?"
Not only is this his voice, it is his voice *restrained* and *controlled* throughout the entire song... which is simply perfection for this performance.
actually it isn't, there a cpl times the Autotune kicks in, You can see when he pulls his head back from the mic kinda annoyingly, he didn't want it used, but he was fighting an illness and the show's producers used it, and 2 or 3 times at the farthest reach of his vocals, it kicked in, unfortunately, but for those 3-5 secs, all the rest: him.
@@jfk64kennedy95 I know I heard it once
Umm...what? A voice automatically processed through a computer program is not a human being's "voice."
A little background. David had the flu when he did this performance. He is formally trained as a Cantor. Paul Simon, the writer and original performer (with Art Garfunkel) has said that Disturbed has made this song their own.
Flu and all! He absolutely killed it!!
You don't know what you are talking about. It is entirely Auto-Tune. Even the studio is empty, there is no studio audience. The entire thing is a fraud. And Paul Simon never said what you claim he said.
Hes actually sick in this live set which blows my mind even more 🤯
The way he controls that amazing voice and slides in and out of a perfect vocal fry is EPIC. Love me some David Draiman 💖🔥🖤
Rachel, that is the entire point of Auto-Tune. It's not amazing, it's a processed voice. Yes, it's "perfect." Exactly. That is why if you teach your dog to sing human words, he could sound perfect, too. Just give him a microphone and hook up the cord to the console. Voila! Your dog Fluffy is a rock star singing cover ballads originally sung by humans who could sing without perpetrating a fraud.
Gives me chills every single time.
The visuals in the official video are incredible
Greatest cover of any song ever. Still waiting for you to react to Chris Stapleton this man is unbelievable
Thanks fam 🥰... sure will
Onyin Pearl ua-cam.com/video/Lq3Av1IA8rc/v-deo.html
Yes, that is his voice. You should watch the official video
Remember when you paused at a minute and a half and said - listen to his voice. That was funny because I knew what was coming. A minute and a half in is still the intro.
Lol... you know right
Agree, it just keeps building to that wonderful crescendo!
He was sick with the flu when he performed that night. He is incredibly talented.
No, he wasn't "sick." And he didn't perform this hideous Auto-Tune garbage that night. That's why O'Brien was enjoying an inside joke at his show's own expense at the beginning, intentionally mocking his own show. He was standing up and pretending to go crazy for a musical act to his left that wasn't actually there.
I like watching people react to music. It makes me appreciate a song even more..thank you
TOUJOURS PRET. Always ready
Yes it's his voice you beauty!
My interpretation of this song, revised:
This song is written with two separate people or consciousnesses singing
it. Those that are waking up and those that have been awake for a very
long time. The first, third and fifth verse is sung from the perspective
of the unawakened and the second and forth verse are sung from the
perspective of the awakened.
Hello, darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence
Hello, darkness, my old friend is about people that have been kept in
the dark and they're telling the darkness that they are experiencing
something new in their vision. They (the awakened/aware ones) planted
the seeds of truth/Light, and they are just starting to become aware.
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a streetlamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
There are fewer of the awakened, and they feel as if they are alone
under the Light of truth, because they refused to by into the lies the
dark has been trying to feed them. Then one day they saw a crack in
the armor of dark, they saw a opportunity to break the sound of silence.
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
No one dared
Disturb the sound of silence
And in that moment they saw all of the light workers/star seeds
(awakened Ones) telling
those that were still asleep the truth/Light, through telepathy
those that were sleeping heard and saw the truth/Light in a very subtle
way,
but yet they couldn't share this Light/truths with anyone for fear of
being attacked
by those that controlled the sound of silence.
They wrote the truth in songs, the truth had to be give covertly as not
to disturb the sound of silence (the dark). And when the people became
aware of the
Light/truth and realized that they had been in darkness the whole time,
it really pissed them off.
"Fools," said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you."
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
They reached out to those still in slumber, trying to give them
Light/truths, but they wouldn't open their minds to new truths, instead
remained in the sound of silence.
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence."
The people were so caught up in working hard to pay for all of the
things, the boats, cars, electronics, all of the toys that they covet.
They couldn't see or hear the truth, they were too distracted by
consumerism. The awakened/prophets have been trying to tell them through
their songs and poems, and that whisper of Light/truth awakened the
people from their slumber and they became ONE. Did you notice the ship
sailing into the Light at the end of the studio version?
His voice is unmatched. Such a wonderful cover ! ❤️
A computer program is not a "voice."
@@tontoepstein6860 what? I’m sorry but that doesn’t make sense to me.
@@julieford8788 His voice was being processed through an automatic pitch correction computer program to automatically tune his voice from the first note until the very last. What you heard was not what he was singing into the microphone, what you heard was not his voice, what you heard was not real.
@@siberianhusky5874 I’ve heard different stories on this. I know he was sick and they wanted to use auto tune but he was adamant that they not do it.
When one has to question if his voice is real u know hes got a voice!!
Yes it's really his voice
Wow his voice wonderful
LOVE IT MS. PEARL! THANK YOU!
I love David's voice. I hope he does more soft songs like this in the future. Very emotional from beginning to end. I lost best friend Rocky 🐈 last August and cried to this same video. Gets me every time.
😪
The film clips have some of the best videography ever also listen to hold on to memories it’s a real tear jerker and beautiful
I love to see people respecting “my” bands and artists. Those whom I've walked with during my darkest, and best days!! Beautiful performance, as always, and a lovely reaction too! I'm your newest sub. It's SO cool to see people get turned onto new music!!
Amanda Heath
Your reaction is a genuine feeling of music and that's really cool.
Such a powerful interpretation of this song. I'm glad you chose to react to this one. Great hat by the way. Merry Christmas!! There were some other folks suggesting Chris Stapleton and I would agree with that. He has a very unique voice and a great live performance of "Cry". Definitely worth checking out if you haven't heard it yet.
What a beautiful smile.
And I just noticed, girl, you are totally rocking that Santa hat!!! You should watch to the actual music video, it is much, much more powerful.
Could not expect that man being from a Heavy Metal type band. WOW!!
I wonder if she knows that this is a Simon & Garfunkel song? I just watched her fall apart listening to their Bridge Over Troubled Water. I wonder how she'd react to the original version given the always profound and beautiful words and music of Paul Simon.
Simply stated, it's a thing of beauty.
I played this song out in the garage with him not expecting , and he just couldn’t believe what he was hearing
Awww😊😊😊
I agree that this particular live performance outshines the video. Don’t get me wrong, the video is very well put together and gives you visuals of the story he is unfolding…both very powerful and what a gift of talent. But live brings out his beautiful, trained and strong voice with such passion as he’s relating the somber story of mankind. Makes you really get into the heartfelt lyrics of Paul Simon’s song of yesteryear and still has meaning throughout history and especially into today’s world. You don’t have video distracting from his performance and pure voice. I agree … WOW. No heavy metal there … very classy and well done. Orchestra and his band accompany him very well and those tympani drums OMG. It all builds and builds towards that beautiful ending. Gives one goosebumps and such a wondrous musical treat. Well done to all. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Raw talent... enough said.
You all look as though this was beyond just hearing or emotional, you all looked as though this moved you spiritually. This song has always been of Biblical Proportions, Paul Simon's, (Simon and Garfunkel) original was trying to wake us up and too many kept sleeping, Disturbed's version, is to shake those that were oblivious to where we are going. I pray this will stir many more to what is so important.
It is really his own voice and he had the flu during this performance
He is a trained opera singer
Love you, 💘 the reaction ♥
This was a great reaction. Well done beautiful woman
Awesome and epic song ! Everything has been said about this song, its just Epic!
Lol, you are disturbed .Welcome to the club.
La canción es bellísima, y esta interpretación es increíble. Uno quisiera que esta versión durase siempre. La escucho una y otra vez y provoca una tormenta de emociones.
Another male singer with an impressively deep voice is Geoff Castellucci - his cover of 16 Tons is an awesome starting point.
Also, check out Pisces live session by Jinjer.
This was NOT his voice!
This was his voice while having the flu.
EDIT: He was definitely "Down With The Sickness" that day.
That is true, but he was still amazing
you look even better with the santa hat......
Colin Hay flying song
Im Alpha Omega on your go rest high reaction, you brought me more tears than the song did.
I love This song! I also love your Christmas hat! It blesses me how much you love the season because I love Christmas too. As for this rendition of "The Sound of Silence", while I do prefer the Simon and Garfunkel version I have to say that this guy does a fantastic job as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the song as sung by him. His vocal interpretation adds a different interpretive dimension to the song itself, which I like. It adds variety to a song that has already been known for a number of decades. And as always, your reaction to it also was outstanding and added to the experience. I love seeing you react to songs you have never heard before. In a way, it's like I get to listen to it for the first time all over again. Great job is always! And here's to your next reaction video! Blessings! 🙏🙂❤️
You think Auto-Tune is fantastic?? I think Auto-Tune is an insult, a middle finger to the audience. This is a travesty.
@@siberianhusky5874 a middle finger? And a travesty? I understand not liking it but that seems to me to be a bit over the top. Why do you say it's a middle finger and a travesty?
@@russ4862 Because Auto-Tune can turn ANYBODY into a singer. It's freakin' karaoke. It's insulting to the audience, it's insulting to every singer who doesn't use it. And it's so blatantly obvious in this guy's songs, and his Auto-Tune cover of this particular song is an abomination.
I'd cut him some slack if he'd simply admit that he uses Auto-Tune on all of his albums and during live performances. Be honest with the consumer. Be honest with the audience. But instead, he chooses to repeatedly, without a conscience, lie about it like everybody is a complete idiot. As I said, it's both a middle finger and a travesty.
Amazing that he was VERY sick that night with a high fever and STILL sounded like that!
Wow 😳
Listening to this is as close to a religious experience I have had in years.
Way different than Simon and Garfunckle but I love it and your reaction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you 🙏
OMG, really? I'm looking forward to seeing how it moves you!!!
Get ready for a religious experience! Moves me to my very soul!
That was a Simon and Garfunkel song, while I love the original this guy did a good job

I just subscribed. You are reviewing some great songs. This is a great rendition of a great song. Only in I think you should listen to "If Loving You is Wrong I Don't Want to be Right" sung by Rod Stewart.
Pls listen to Phantom of the Opera with Floor Jansen and Henk Poort, you'll love the live on Beste Zangers
Try listening to 1965 original by Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel. Compare their renditions of Sounds of Silence.
Out of all the comments on your video no one told you how pretty you are I'm going to you're very pretty have a good day
Thank you ☺️
Not bad for a heavy metal guy who was so ill that he had to sit to avoid falling down.

Simon and Garfunkel wrote and performed this song way back in the 1960s. Their version is much softer, melodic, and a bit sad with beautiful harmony - very different from this angry cover. Please react to the original too.
Noted fam
The best description I saw on that is that the original version was the warning while this one is the anger when that warning wasn't heeded.
Regional singer Simon and Garfunkel Dentist to be a warning from God
While this was a beautiful video, it seems like all I can ever hear in it is the auto-tune his manager insisted he use because he was sick during this particular performance. You can hear it creating these tiny jumps in the tone when he changes notes.
If you liked this, you should listen to the studio-recorded version. There's not a ton of alterations in that one and you can hear all the little nuances in his voice and it sounds so much more natural. It's incredible!
Next for a real flip try UB40 many rivers to cross.
