    I have seen this many times, but this is the first time I noticed that Antonio was helping her to the door as moral support, just like she did for him earlier in the movie.

      And abuela says "Open your eyes" like she did at the very beginning. 😭

      Yeah I knew that that's really cute and they look like siblings helping eachother even though they are not.

    I lost it when they gave her the doorknob. From a narrative and emotional perspective it's such a huge payoff for the story. The way the music dies down the moment she gets the doorknob, the look of pained joy on her face, ultimately leading to that slow walk up with all that recognition from her family. This movie is a triumph of filmmaking and music.

    This finale… I don’t think a lot of people truly understand the power of being seen.

    • @waterdragon55
      @waterdragon55 2 роки тому +6

      But the finale was not only being seen she needed to see herself in turn. She thought of herself as that she needed to know that we see u but do u see urself. She said to abuela but didn't do it to herself until the very end

    I love the Mariano/Delores I see you/ I hear you. My take on that was that because of his good looks no one listens to Mariano until Delores talks about his poetry and because Delores is so quiet due to her gift no one really sees her until this moment.

    There's so much great about this song from a narrative standpoint. First, like any good finale song it works in all of the music from the show, though this kind of song would often be at the end of the first act, but compared to the length of a Broadway show, Disney musicals are kind of like one act plays. Second this is the first song where Abuela is actually singing with the family, and her part is themed after "Waiting on a Miracle" which is Mirabel's "I want" song, signifying that her wants are finally in line with the family and not just herself. Third the incorporation of "Surface pressure" and "What else can I do" are flipped, but also entwined. It starts with the village offering help to the family to the tune of "what else can I do" and then shows the three sisters working as a team to "Surface pressure" to show that they're committed to sharing their burdens instead of letting that pressure continue to build. It hen switches back to "What else can I do" for the montage of building the house and Mirabel indroducing Dolores to Mariano. Finally the scene with the doorknob uses elements from "Dos Oruguitas" but layers them into the base melody, showing that the Grandma is more closely connected to the family in a way that isn't toxic because she's aired her own trauma and finally sees the whole point of the gifts and the miracle.
    I really think Miranda is coming into his own handling the music for Disney musicals, he's taking a lot of Ashman's design philosophy and putting his own spin on it from his modern Broadway experience. "All of You" is heavily reminiscent of "Non-stop" from his own Hamilton and "One Day More" from Les Miserables(Watch the concert versions instead of the Hooper's version if you want to see something amazing musically). Honestly seeing as how he's teaming up with Alan Menkin, I'm a little hopeful that the new live Action "The Little Mermaid" won't be an absolute dumpster fire musically.

      Yeah true and I really want the the little mermaid to be good atleast in the live action because u can usually change alot of the things and it is going to be hard for them to even make it as the actor needs to wear a tail and has to swim so I wish it to be a good movie

      as much as i love Bruno i think he has the exact correct amount of involvement in everything he does. His whole point of a character is that people paid TOO MUCH attention to what he said but in a wrong way. He wants and needs to take a step back and just be there for his family. Just like Luiza was always viewed as the infallible Strong one when in reality she has her weak moments like any of us. Or Isabela being viewed as the one without flaws when all she wants is to do her thing. Having Bruno only sing for the moment where he wants to reconcile with his sisters and then speak to Mirabel about her being the real gift is PERFECT for what he wants and needs

    I love Camillo's reaction to Delores saying she heard Bruno every day.
    He had sooooo many things to say that he just never got a chance to.😂

    One thing I noticed in this song is that Dolores actually sings out loud, and not more in a whispering voice, even yelling out “Let’s go!” because she doesn’t have that supersonic hearing anymore.
