COLD SORE SYMPTOMS:
A cold sore usually starts with a tingling, itching or burning feeling.
Over the next 48 hours:
- Small fluid-filled blisters appear
- The blisters can appear anywhere on the face
- The blisters burst and crust over into a scab
Cold sores should start to heal within 10 days, but are contagious and may be irritating or painful while they heal.
WHAT CAN BRING ON A COLD SORE:
If you are feeling ill or perhaps a bit stressed or run down, this can make a cold sore more likely to appear as your immune system will not be at its best. Being in direct sunlight can also trigger a cold sore. So, it makes sense that to reduce the chance of them reoccurring, you should look at ways of resting, reducing your stress levels and make that you apply products containing a sun protection factor of at least 30.
As well as cold sores looking unpleasant, they can also be quite painful. Whilst they usually clear up on their own within 10 days, the great news is that there are things that you can do to make them less painful and to speed up their healing time.
WHEN TO SEE YOUR DOCTOR FOR COLD SORES:
Seek medical advice if any of the following apply to you,
- The cold sore has not started to heal within 10 days
- You're worried about a cold sore or think it's something else
- The cold sore is very large or painful
- You or your child also have swollen, painful gums and sores in the mouth (Gingivostomatitis)
- You have a weakened immune system - for example, because of chemotherapy or diabetes

I get cold sore in my noise after I get over a cold I use Apple cider vinegar I just continue to apply it with a q tip throughout the day and it drys it away

I've had cold sore and treated it and now i have that pinkish skin remaining(no scabs left) and it just doesn't go away, sometimes I feel it still is itchy. I treated cold sore with acyclovir cream and used rubbing alcohol when replacing cream after it dries out and I think I used too much alcohol because it burned my skin, what should I do to heal it?
I so wish I was in UK. So many more treatments available. Especially for multiple sclerosis

No, because the area needs to stay dry to heal. Carmex will give it moisture to live on. Keep it dry. No Carmex!
