    I don’t give up on an ailing plant until they are black and slimy. Plants have an innate desire to survive and you have to give them time to recover

    My favorite part of my rattlesnake calathea is that it puts itself to sleep at night and then wakes up in the morning. Mine also almost died after a housesitter missed watering it for two weeks, but it’s back and growing like crazy!

    Yes, Calatheas are awesome, and they #1 need "consistency" in watering. I treat them exactly like my ferns and they love it.

    I bought 2 rufibarbas one year ago and I figured out they had some kind of fungus in them. They were getting a lot of crispy tips. So I cut off all those damaged leaves and sprayed with neem and the crispy tip problem went away. So sometimes it’s a fungus issue. I only water with filtered but I’m going to change to distilled soon

    My calatheas always grow in spurts during spring. 5 or 6 even 7 leaves in one week then nothing for 2 weeks and rinse and repeat all spring and summer

    As a newbie plant owner/new sub, I came across your channel a week or so ago and have already learned so much from you. I got 2 calathea roseopicta rosy starter plants that haven't been doing well at all (both are down to one leaf that are also not doing great) so I am doing what I can to figure things out and hopefully they will start to bounce back with Spring being here now lol. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge, tips & tricks!

    • @AlohaPlantLife
      @AlohaPlantLife  Рік тому +1

      You’re welcome! Just double check that the roots still look healthy. If they do then the plant can bounce back. The only thing they may not be able to bounce back from is root rot, or just going WAY to long without watering to the point that the roots shrivel up and die.

      @@Aquamarine.Aubrey Yes they are! OMG, it´s wonderful to see them all, but that triostar became a really beautiful beast 😍 It seems that every winter they will get better adapted... which gives us all hope :-) I also find the winters the hardest, rest of the year all is fine.

    Thank you for the video! Your plants are beautiful - even the ones with a few crispy edges! I should have my first Calathea Rattlesnake in a couple of weeks, and I am so excited! I'm not even going to delude myself into thinking that I can keep an Ornata, Roseopicta, or Peacock alive, even though I want a Peacock so bad I can taste it. My area is just too cold and dry. My Rufibarba is doing pretty well, and that makes me happy. Between my Rufibarba, Rattlesnake, and I'm thinking of adding a Calathea Freddy at some point, I can live with that. :)

    Your plants are beautiful. I have a medallion that I bought last year and after it threw a initial fit for 6 months, it has stabilized and has lots of new leaves. I think they just need to acclimate because I did not run a humidifier this winter and my humidity was 35 to 40 percent. Right now it’s 46% and all my plants are waking up!

    Most of my Calethea died,they actually did die I checked lol. Think it was down to my watering, the only one that’s still alive although struggling is the Orbifolia, just can’t seem to get a handle on it. As for my triostar and 2 others were stunning when they arrived now, not so much I’ve got a couple of nearly dead petioles sticking out of the pot and hoping they pick up now spring is here. Lol. Beneficials are great, but if they don't have enough food they'll die off. Plus you need to buy them again just as the next batch of eggs will be hatching. It may be that the spider mite magnet just came in with them & you've never fully eradicated them??
