I agree with your reasoning on hybrid over full electric. It really is the best of both worlds, especially with a strong hybrid like the NX 350h which has a larger electric battery and allows you to use electricity more often at low speeds. That was the reason we went with the hybrid. To be honest, the charging time is something that concerns me and held me back from buying full electric. 10 years down the road (hopefully sooner) things will change with battery improvements and a more extensive charging infrastructure (in Canada and elsewhere). Cheers for another excellent and insightful video!
Yeap exactly and glad you agree with my thinking on this! There are lots of pros and cons but we felt after looking at all of it, hybrid was the best choice for us. Once the charging infrastructure improves I’ll definitely be looking at EVs.
I just bought a brand new Lexus UX250H and I love it. For the price, I have an AWD HYBRID. I was going to buy the tesla model 3 RWD, but between the low range and Rear wheel drive, it was a no for me. I, too, live in Ontario and after years of experiencing the snow and cold weather we get here, that made my decision that much easier. I love tesla, but in terms of reliability, I just know you can’t go wrong with Toyota/Lexus cars.
After going back and forth with so many options like you did, decided to go with lexus nx hybrid. For now going with hybrids is a sensible choice in my opinion. Even though i live in Florida.
I always find your videos at the right time lol. I've been leaning back and forth between a Tesla and an Acura recently. For me its either full electric or full combustion not really looking for a hybrid. Been trying to decide between the Acura TLX Type S or the Tesla Model 3 or Y but i cant seem to make up my mind right now. Big pros and cons to both. I did also look into a Lexus but i feel if im spending 50k on a car the least it could do is have an updated interior but the IS350 F Sport and even the IS500 are still sitting at like a 2012 interior. The Model 3 is really nice, especially the performance but like you stated there are still a lot of disadvantages to owning an electric vehicle ,which im pretty sure i even mentioned back when you were initially deciding if you wanted to go electric. All in all though if you have any opinions on the cars i mentioned do let me know. You know i always enjoy listening to/reading your feedback. As always keep up the good work! Almost at 50k!! What a trip brother congrats on that!!! Always remember, i might not be in the comments but i am always here in spirit hahahaha
Ruffle nice to see you back :) Same back and forth as me eh, tough choice both are nice. The IS350F and IS500 apparently are going to get a overhaul interior next year FYI. Honestly, if you are needing a car now I’d go with the Model Y with the discounts vs the Acura IMHO. Where are you leaning?
Hydrogen Powered > Hybrid > Electric. Full electric cars have too many downsides, especially being stranded in the winter on a dead battery vs having some gasoline that will save you and wont disappear overnight. Not to mention environmental harm caused from the mining and refinement of lithium and cobalt for the batteries.
I was looking for a SUV last month and brought a Tesla Model YP taking the advantage of the US federal tax and CA incentive (total $9500 USD) so no brainer to take Tesla with their recent price drop together with these incentives over the 2023 RX 350h. However , I still keep my 2015 Lexus Hybrid for long trip to remote areas where not much supercharger around .
I'm torn also. Deciding between RX and ionic 5. Worried the hybrid will be irrelevant in 5-10 years. Will gas prices go up so high that it becomes a huge inconvenience? Difficult decision!

What do you think? Hybrid or Full Electric? Though more importantly, what was the #1 reason you choose one over the other?

Great choice Michael! What colour and how many kilometres do you have on it now?
Easy - HYBRID 👍
I agree but damn it wasn’t easy for me to make the decision haha.

Congratulations man! I completely agree with you and you’re going to absolutely love the SUV. When do you get it?
@@carswithsonduren Thank you. I purchased it last month

Thanks man 50K is so close it’s been a journey as you know ;)

Agreed a lot of people don’t know the reality of how these batteries are made as well :(
We are lucky we have a Hybrid and an EV. Hybrid is just so much easier for longer trips. EV is good for city drive and fun

Nice congratulations on the YP! I like your plan and welcome to the channel Peter 🙏
Smart choice with the hybrid
I think, especially with the infrastructure problems we have in Canada, and our climate it’s the best decision for the next
5-10 years.
@@carswithsonduren After living in the north east and alaska, I understand lol

Where do you live? Do you experience bad winter’s?
@@carswithsonduren I live in the southeast of USA (North Carolina) so mild winters with maybe 1-2 snow days per year
In that case honestly, I might pull the trigger on full electric. I think that’s what I would do personally. The Ioniq 5 is a very nice car IMHO
Thank you
Anytime man welcome to the channel!
Been trying to buy a hybrid for over a year..nothing....still waiting 3 on order nobody can supply
Damn, which order do you have again?
@@carswithsonduren NX350H, and Rav 4 Hybrid Ltd x2
I hope more supply comes online but from what I know all hybrids are at minimum 1 year wait.
Go for used one
