  • Mark is the iconic founder CEO of our time. At Chase Center on September 10, 2024, he did an unprecedented thing: a live conversation in front of 6,000 people on Meta’s company strategy, sharing stories from early Facebook history, and his thoughts on the future of AI, VR, and AR. Mark was remarkably candid in our discussion, and gave us a window into his real and intense daily demeanor leading Meta. (And his other life endeavors!)
We can't wait to release the complete video of the whole night, including our surprise conversations with Daniel Ek, Emily Chang, and cameo appearances from Jensen Huang and Mike Taylor (the incredible singer of “Who Got the Truth?”). That’s coming in a couple weeks, but for now: enjoy this conversation with Mark Zuckerberg.

I don't know why, but I felt some weird energy between Ben and David, and Mark. Like something was off during conversation. It looked like Mark didn't get a chance to talk what he wanted about, and Ben and David didn't get the course of the interview they expected and planned, and like they had a silent battle over it. I think they both got nervous at one point when felt Mark is not happy how interview is going.
Mark probably wanted to use this platform and event to talk about the future of Meta, Ben and David are by nature of their podcast leaning towards history. They probably wanted to find some middle ground, but it didn't look very natural.
But I understand, it's a live event, can't be perfect. I'm sure they'll learn a lot from this one and be much better next time.

It seemed like they were too intimidated by him. He kicked things off with that awkward "I don't apologize anymore," but they just sat there, not pushing for more or asking about what he thought people expected him to apologize for. Instead, they just started with basic questions that we all know about his FB journey and kept praising him, literally every question was pure dickriding, they even seemed scared to ask anything wrong or challenging, there was stupid micro-pause before they spoke like they were afraid of setting him off

Great interview! I listened to the audio at the gym and then watched the video after a walk with my friend. My big takeaway from this is that Meta is ultimately a technology company with talented people that is focused on enabling human connection. I’ve heard the approach of shipping a product quickly and having a feedback loop to learn from users, but it’s clicking more with me now. Looking at Meta that way helps me see the vision behind Reality Labs. Meta is following its goal of enabling human connection. I use video calls every day, but I feel like there is something better that’s coming, and I’m glad smart people are working towards it. I am appreciative of Meta’s open source contributions because I get to benefit from some of the technology smart people have made and possibly contribute to it as well. I was surprised to see Mark comment on politics. He started a project in college likely without politics on his mind, and now it has a role in politics. After collecting feedback, Meta iterates on how it fills this role. Thank you for this insightful interview - it’s nice seeing you guys branch out with a live event and learn in the hot seat. I’m a long time listener and I am excited to see more content going forward!

It's amazing how people allow history to be rewritten like he didn't take the idea he was hired to do the website for, and then disown and betray every business partner and friend he ever seemed to have and catapulted the site and the business by misleading people into giving up their data...? How do we arrive at hero status? This is the same way Diddy, Blake Lively, Kim K. and even Harvey Weinstein were so celebrated- so many people depend on them for their immediate job or long term financial success, where otherwise they'd dial 911 and testify at their indictment. ❤

election interference, censorship, and many many other nasty things, but he smirks: "i don't apologize anymore"
      also, let's fact check them:
Betrayal of Partners: Zuckerberg faced legal disputes with the Winklevoss twins, who claimed he stole their idea for Facebook. The case settled for $65 million, and co-founder Eduardo Saverin also sued over being unfairly diluted, leading to another settlement.
Data Misuse: Zuckerberg was heavily criticized for his role in the Cambridge Analytica scandal, where Facebook allowed third-party apps to misuse users' data. He faced legal actions for failing to protect privacy and misleading users about data security.
Celebrity Comparisons: Comparisons to figures like Harvey Weinstein are exaggerated. While Zuckerberg has faced ethical criticism, there is no evidence of criminal behavior on that level.

called the PR era where he pulls the wool over most everyones eyes cause he got a new hair style and bought a chain and ppl are lazy thinkers. Guy has a 15-20 yr track record that ppl so quickly allow themselves to willfully ignore. Zuck will always be original zuck. His single decision the metaverse almost sunk meta entirely. If AI didnt come along so he could copy it like everything he does that works it would have been end days and life support for meta. Opensource which LLAMA is not to be clear and I really wish 'journalists' would stop saying it is, was the obvious choice as meta was so far behind on ai. So dont let it get framed like he is doing something good for society. It was their only option strategically.

I am hoping you all are doing well in both health and work. The following is a fragment of my viewpoint related to what Mark has expressed here…
It´s always good to have a good conversation, yeah... But here, I have noticed there are ergonomic glasses in order to interact with the Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) [either A.I. Or AI hereafter]... But, I don´t believe there is one Facebook employee who could handle... Let´s say 10,000 persons a day... 10,000 accounts a day... Let´s say a 12 hr. Shift per day. That´s probably the reason why Facebook is working with A.I. Today. "BUT", it definitely reflects the lack of responsibility related to vital areas to cover. This is not a negative criticism, this is a positive criticism in order to show respect for others (humans). A.I. Is not doing its job... And it psychologically is diminishing human beings, mostly with the term: erroneous algorithms, for instance. Facebook is getting used to apply A.I. On people, instead of making things easier for employees, it simply is punishing humans.
I have experienced several bully actions from the A.I. That Facebook is applying in its platform [I am referring to Facebook... Not Instagram, not WhatsApp]...I´ve noticed there are some videos uploaded that Facebook allows, as movies, music clips, and they are still are ON in Facebook... There are no copyrights matches and allegations or claims related to the same, even if they don´t have the movie´s name on those posts that I have seen.
Additionally, related to Marketplace, there are restrictions applied to Facebook Users even if they don´t violate Facebook´s Policies. I believe this is getting out of Facebooks Hands since there are several... I mean too many issues related to these mentioned. There is a new option related to posting pictures with music on the User´s Stories... Additionally, Facebook also offers the option on posting music as shorts in the Facebook User´s Story, but Facebook doesn´t have the rights to do so... Why claiming about posting either videos, regular videos taken on any spot with music in the background, and the Facebook warns its users due to "Copyrights" or alike, related to ¨Author Rights¨, but its platform promotes posting music that Facebook has no rights to do so. I honestly don´t see it fair, and mostly if the A.I. Is judging others on this. I have posted music from Guatemala, on Facebook, where we, my colleagues or alike and I have worked on, and Facebook still POINTS OUT THAT MY STORY CAN´T BE POSTED DUE TO COPYRIGHTS on this. Facebook doesn´t own all music in the planet... It´s just as if I was pointing out on companies in the U.S., or elsewhere, related to using others´ music, in spite I don´t even live there.
Now, originally, I remember Facebook was categorized as a Social Platform, and persons still refer to this platform as a Social Platform... Now, related to that term "Human Communication" Company, I don´t buy it. First off, due to the policies presented in the platform... They mention things that Facebook does not respect, as for instance, the examples on how to use the videos and music, Copyrights, Intellectual Property and alike... Additionally, I honestly don´t believe all Facebook´s employees would be able to handle all the Facebook´s Users around the Globe. Reason Why I think of the following: If Facebook grows, and obtains benefits from its Marketplace sales, for instance, and if they proceed working in the International Space which is the Internet, then Facebook should respect the way of treating its users, mostly by not just applying in a greater percentage the A.I. As if showing its users a Human Being is handling their either queries, or restricting ASSUMED actions against Facebook´s Policies.
I have been banned from Marketplace, while Facebook at all times shows the option to boost [release] an Ad, suggesting to purchase a package to promote either a service or a product. Notwithstanding, the issue is: while posting as a regular service on the Marketplace option, to share it in other community groups or alike, most of the time they are banned or restricted and a warning pops up explaining the user the service Is Not Allowed in Marketplace due to Facebook´s Policies... Notwithstanding, when posting the SERVICE as A PAID AD, then Policies are left behind. DON´T OFFER A SERVICE IF YOU DON´T LET USERS DO THE SAY MANUALLY IN THE MARKETPLACE AREA Mr. Zuckerberg.
Additionally, don´t warn and restrict Facebook´s Users on something you are doing, as for instance, the Copyrights on music, while you are showing off with the option on posting music (I am referring to the Users´ Stories).
I don´t know... I honestly find it UN-CONVINCING the way handles things...
As of now, so you know, I was banned from Marketplace, and the reasons are clear. I explained my reasons to your either Customer Service Representative or A.I. (or probably a mix of both), but no response from the moment I was banned. I was banned about three or four days ago from my Marketplace, and it was ASSUMINGLY because my Facebook account was hacked... But it has never been hacked... Thereafter, I believe it was your A.I. Probably a Customer Service Representative, and with no reason, even without a notice, your Representative (who knows if it was a human or your A.I.), simply stopped responding to me, following the confirmation that I submitted related to my Facebook account not being hacked, and I was simply banned from my Facebook Marketplace, with no notice. Additionally, I have submitted about 10 times the explanations, and your policies with links, and no answer.
Let me remind you, Mark, you are dealing with HUMANS, and RIGHTS are in JEOPARDY while you handle with HUMANS throughout your whole platform, YOU ARE NOT DEALING WITH A.I. CUSTOMERS.
Let´s say you don´t get the profits you would expect, but letting Facebook grow, globally, of course, I can imagine lets you obtain profits out of it; otherwise, you would not own the installations that Facebook has today. And, I also believe that letting Facebook grow as much as it has, it is a responsibility to handle, not just to use a ROBOT (A.I. In this category) to judge humans.
How many humans are enrolled to Facebook? An equivalent amount of persons as the amount of persons that you have in your Facebook´s Installations? It is a legit commitment and responsibility that you have in your hands, it´s not just a cyber-platform where you sale specific either services or products (tangible or non-tangible). The Social Communication Company NEEDS to handle the RESPONSIBILITY related to Volume and Scale.
Man, if you guys knew how it feels to be banned from Marketplace on Facebook, it honestly hits the core of my ego, which I believe is the MAIN REASON WHY THE A.I. Is definitely acting, and in some circumstances, it also commits crimes since it, the A.I., might (the most probable) NOT UNDERSTAND HOW BAD IT FEELS, in spite explanations are presented. Probably letting Facebook operate just within the U.S. Or in a limited amount of countries would be the best you could do if you cannot handle the volume of Facebook´s Users around the Globe. Try making a balance related to the human users that you can handle instead of just throwing the A.I. Into Jeopardizing the Human Dignity.
What could be a great remedy to this? I guess a competitive LEGIT HONEST Authority could handle that.
I am sorry if I am being that frank and honest, but I honestly believe the way you Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook are handling the aforementioned… In conclusion: You are not ready and prepared to keep practicing whatsoever you are practicing with the volume of persons that you and your A.I. Are handling… But still, you are far away making a stable income.
    All the best,
    Maximo F. Wilhelm Muñoz.

I don't see any way these social media companies could completely eliminate abuse from their platforms.
Nobody is giving ANY specifics on how a platform with billions of people could moderate EVERY communication. You're acting as if there is some self-evident solution. I think it's literally impossible to get close to perfect moderation.
Why has nobody blamed AT&T, for example? Surely they have a higher quantity of abuse using their tools. I have yet to see a single company create a tool that somehow prevents its own abuse.
It's an absurdly high standard that can be used for selective outrage at certain CEOs on the basis of ideology. Since it's technically true of EVERY tool and platform that evil people misuse it, if politicians want to take a certain company down they can apply rules that they would never apply to other companies or platforms.

underwhelming to say the least… also, how can a guy with his history just say he’s done apologizing and people just applaud that?

I think businesses in the past were scared to change what worked in the short term now these companies will change on a dime and implentment whatever mostly because they already have the platform but still.equals unreal success

Needs to be said that just because you've got a top podcast doesn't mean 1) you can do it live and 2) you're a good interviewer. To me, these guys are decent researchers at best. Even though the show is not for me, they've clearly had some success in digital. Stay there. So many big social personalities can't do it in IRL. It's a totally different ball game to do this show in a live setting. We don't need it. It must have been a nice payday, though :)

This to painful to watch. Both interviewers have no sense for WHEN to ask something and interupt with stupid remarks.

Hey interviewer dude, you should be ashamed of yourself for ever giving Daniel Ek any kind of interview, and I'm turning this video off now, and making sure you don't get any more ad revenue because you gave Daniel Ek a platform by interviewing him, and you appear to be openly promoting that waste of oxygen. Enjoy losing money.
