I absolutely adored and still go, Doris Day ! I thought she was beautiful, authentic, funny and so relatable! I saw all of her movies as reruns, when I was a small girl. The clothes she wore in her movies were gorgeous!!! Wow, what a figure she had! Thank you for sharing this auction information with us! I’m so sad she is no longer with us, but as she sang, “Ka sa ra, SA ra!” ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Doris Day , classy , beautiful ray of sunshine with a big heart for animals . She was such a great entertainer who I can define as a true movie star .... ❤️
My mum loved the old movies and they were a bonding experience for us. We would sit down on a Sunday afternoon and watch the classics. So I grew up with Doris Day and I must admit that she shaped my childhood. I love her 💕. I’m going to try and buy something from this auction. Thank you for making us aware of it. 🌸
I got a little teary eyed when they talked a little bit about Rock Hudson. I truly appreciate Doris Day and Elizabeth Taylor for embracing him during his final days.
If there was any celebrity in the world I could own a piece from, it would be Doris Day. Lovely and genuine lady, talented and beautiful actress, wonderful singer, and animal lover.
Doris, your hair looks beautiful in the show-off clip, and your outfit is lovely and contrasts so well with your hair. Thanks for this very interesting peek into the wardrobe of Doris Day. As you said, all the items shown are so wearable now. Stay well and show us more of your fantastic store.
Doris had classic taste and style. Always loved her clothing. She favored a Carneby Street tailored look for snap . I also loved the clothes Marlow Thomas wore,on That Girl a style like Doris favored . Great show Thank you for posting.
I love Doris Day ...I grew up with her movies& Don't eat the Daisies is my favorite ❤️ thank you for all your videos...I'm such a fan of you& your fabulous collection...also what a life to live!! Surrounded by BEAUTIFUL pieces of 🎭🎨 Art.... thank you so much... blessings to you
Those shoes are just to die for! VERY wearable with a lot of different clothes, both semi formal and formal. The silver and gold tone together work as neutrals, and can be worn with different fabrics and palettes. They have been kept in beautiful condition, obviously they were carefully cleaned and conditioned through the years to fight dryness and cracking. Doris was a class act.
Oh Doris could you have a better namesake?!? She seemed to be such a true , sincere, wonderful, person. And I just KNEW the auction proceeds would go to help animals!!! Well done Doris! Thank YOU Doris for the glimpse of DD's closet!
Thank you so much for doing all of these videos. I love fashion and love vintage fashion in particular so I've really enjoyed being able to see and learn more through your channel! I've rediscovered my love for clothes and the stories behind them. Thank you so much and please stay safe and healthy!
I am unsure how you appeared in my feed but I am thrilled. My first was Doris Day and just now Chanel. The pieces are magnificent and the background stories fascinating. Looking forward to seeing more.
I think she liked coats so much because she lived in Carmel where the weather is quite often overcast and chilly. I live in a town close by and have quite the coat collection too because of where we are.
Lovely video. So many classic styles of that time and would be awesome to wear now! Your channel is super. Loved seeing the clothes and the history. Thank you.
Thank you Doris for this video I absolutely love you guys talking about the history of Doris Day her support of rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor etc. I always know Doris Day song I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck because my grandma constantly tells all the grandkids that🖤🌈🦋
Interesting the 3 auctions of the 3 50's and 60's superstars, Doris, Marilyn, and Elizabeth. Marilyn for her dresses and virtually anything she ever touched, Elizabeth for her jewels. Doris will likely be for the more down to earth fan, just like she herself. As she herself said, she was most like Calamity Jane than any other film role.
Doris was born n grew up in my home town. The iconic girl next door who was hot but guys were willing to be gentlemen. Great voice. Her movies were worth the time. So sorry her son died and left her. Doris wanted a loving family but always married users who were not worthy of her. That Touch of Mink and Calamity Jane were favorites but lived then all.
Another amazing video Doris. My grandma was a huge Doris Day fan and my grandma mimicked her style. This video just reminded me how much I miss her. Thank you Doris and keep up the good work
that was a fun fact that your dad was crushing on doris day and you were named after her ,shes definitely one of the iconic stars ,multitalented great singer, wonderful actress ,and love the fact she cared so much about animals that was amazing ,all those coats are really cool you could wear any one of them today ,there kinda retro but would look very hip . she was beautiful had a great body and always wore beautiful close in her films .cool
Ohh...Please, Doris...When are you going to come out with new episodes of L.A. Frock Stars TV series...??? I loved watching those episodes with all your store team employees and you buying/ showing the store clothing and the different stars/visitors appearing on the show, trying on the different pieces. I sure am hankering for many more episodes.
About her wearing clothes more than once: I really appreciate that she did that and it makes her very relatable. I wonder if there were also financial reasons behind that though. I remember learning in a documentation that she was bankrupt in the 60s because her husband dealt with her finances badly.
She did a 5 year TV series late 60s into 70s and did real well. She owned then sold at big profit, The legendary Cypress Inn, Carmel. She was in good shape I understand.
@@LarryOfilms, Doris did the series because shortly before her husband died he had already signed the contract for her to do the series so she was obligated to do the show ..It is true she needed the money at the time because she found out her husband lost all of her money in bad investments . However she made lots of money doing the show and also went to court and sued her husband`s business partner (Jerry Rosenthal) . She won the lawsuit and received a large sum of money . She lived very comfortably the rest of her life. Her networth was $200 million at the time of her passing.
Thanks for this vid about Doris Day. When I was a teenager I saw Doris Day films. I loved her as “the girl next door’ characters. I’ve some on TV here years later.
Yes! Doris Day movies are my go-to when I need a lift, I love her 'look', love her expressions, her voice, her love and advocacy of dog/animals and her support of Rock Hudson at the height of the AID panic. RIP beloved Doris
What happens to the things that don't sell in the auction? I know a personal friend is managing the estate and all proceeds go to her animal causes, but what happens to what doesn't sell? It's just so sad that there is no family to pass these things down to. That when it's all sold off, there is nothing left of Doris Day. The house is empty of her, the house sold off. Makes me sad.
She did have a single child, a son, who predeceased her. His only child, her only grandson, struggled to keep in touch with her despite Doris's dislike of his mother. However, a hanger-on in her entourage fought to keep them estranged. It's a sad story of someone injecting himself between close blood relatives in order to bamboozle an old woman & keep a big slice of the profits for himself. 😢
@@oceanbrzzz If you Google Ryan Melcher, you will see an article you can read under https:doyouremember.com which tells the story from the point of view of a close friend of Doris's, who reveals that she was being manipulated by a man who forced her to cut ties with all of her other old connections as well. The same thing happened to James Cagney when he was old & ill. It's beyond sad. Fame, talent, & wealth are truly no protection once your mental & physical powers begin to fail you. 😢
Thank you Doris I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. I am also a huge Doris Day fan As a child I sat glued to the TV watching her movies I am going to look at the auction site right now so a huge thank you 😀
Frances Lyman Hi Frances. Please go to our website. I’d you don’t see the item posted there, you can inquire by writing to us at: thewaywewore@sbcglobal.net. Thanks for watching and I appreciate it our interest! Doris

Class pure Class. Doris Day was a very classy lady. I adored her as a child and I still enjoy her films, songs and pictures of her.
💕 lovely video again Doris! I like vintage clothes but your videos are done as if for a university class about fashion so we also learn a lot.
Doris Day , classy , beautiful ray of sunshine with a big heart for animals . She was such a great entertainer who I can define as a true movie star .... ❤️
She was a triple threat in ability. The most underrated performer of the 20th c.

It’s still hard to believe Doris Day is gone, she seemed to be someone who would go on forever. 🙏🏼
Remember: the future is not ours to see.
Julius Maloney well said! That is so true.
I got a little teary eyed when they talked a little bit about Rock Hudson. I truly appreciate Doris Day and Elizabeth Taylor for embracing him during his final days.
Guss Aguilar They had class.
I would have there for him as well - I imagine there would have been millions of women that would have also been there
My favorite DD costume was the buckskins she wore in “Calamity Jane”! LOL!! It was my favorite movie when I was a little kid.
Doris was priceless.
Doris Day is my kind of person she love people and my favorite Aminals👍💋
If there was any celebrity in the world I could own a piece from, it would be Doris Day. Lovely and genuine lady, talented and beautiful actress, wonderful singer, and animal lover.
I would love be a small item of Doris’. I supported her pet foundation for years so I would just love to keep something of hers.
Doris, your hair looks beautiful in the show-off clip, and your outfit is lovely and contrasts so well with your hair.

She was a joy on screen her wardrobes were stunning
Love Doris day,,,,the sunshine girl
Such a beautiful soul🙏🏼❤️
Tony Randall said she was the most underrated actress. I wonder who her favorite designer was?
I loved Doris Day. Thank you for making this video.
Doris Day and Rex Harrison- Midnight Lace. Still gives me shivers!
Yes, & I would love to see the one called "Julie" where Doris played an airline stewardess that has to fly & land the plane. They never show it on TV.
Doris had classic taste and style. Always loved her clothing. She favored a Carneby Street tailored look for snap . I also loved the clothes Marlow Thomas wore,on That Girl a style like Doris favored . Great show Thank you for posting.
Love the mustard yellow coat. Its still so chic for today

I've now watched all of your videos. I want to turn back time and rethink the way I dress.
I love when you go to auctions. Has to be one of my favorite segments from your channel. Thanks for sharing.

Doris you look like Doris!!
I wonder if this auction is going to be postponed?
Christine VR - I wondered that, too...but perhaps the fact that you can bid online will make it possible. Who knows.
Hey, I just want to thank you for the content in the channel, I normally watched on my TV and can't comment,
Doris day's clothes ang giving present day valentino and the shoes are kind of chanel. And i love the showoff =] teecee, doris!
Hi Doris! I always wondered if you were named after her. I know a lot of Shirleys, named after Shirley Temple.
About her wearing clothes more than once: I really appreciate that she did that and it makes her very relatable. I wonder if there were also financial reasons behind that though. Fabi W yeah I heard she went broke because of that.
She did a 5 year TV series late 60s into 70s and did real well. She owned then sold at big profit, The legendary Cypress Inn, Carmel. She was in good shape I understand.
Brent Edwards yeah but I heard that’s the reason she did the series because she was broke.

Gorgeous! I bet you anything that beautiful white coat and hat go for much much more then 1-2 thousand! My guess is 5-6 thousand. If not more.
Princess Diana, Elizabeth Taylor and Doris Day encouraged people that they could touch and hug people with AIDS. 💕💕💕
If I had seen this before the auction I would have tried my best to get the white coat with the hat!!!!
Wonderful
Doris Day had Beautiful Clothes in films. RIP
So interesting.
Yay for livestream sales!
LOVE YOU! #SDIORVINTAGE
I would like to get a book about Doris Day ´s biography
How does a Fan bid online on April 4 and 5. Loved her through the years and when I need cheering up, I put on one of her movies.
Go to Julien's auction website. You can probably sign up there
