A.LIVE Session // 2024 03 15 - Improvised Electronic Live Performance

An improvised rehearsal session in preparation for my upcoming electroanalog live set.
While the set is far from "complete" and "perfect", I made a conscious choice to release it anyway. It is a perfectly imperfect musical crystallisation in time, capturing a complex mood, strangely intricate soundscapes, and a multi-layered moment of "locking-in" through the medium of improvised electronic music-making.
While playing around with settings and motives I got carried away by a powerful flow state, imagining playing for a participatory audience, co-creating a collective feedback-loop of dancing and musicking. In hindsight, I'm in awe about the infinite potential that emerges from simple variations on a theme. It felt like surfing on musical waves, tightly coupled in a co-responsive and resonating relation with the totality of the moment, including different levels of self-organisation that synchronise given the right measure of unpredictability, complexity, and saturation.
Releasing this performance is inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi, which gently points out the fundamental incompleteness inherent in life and nature. There is unfathomable beauty, intricacy, and vulnerability in opening up to that insight. As a hardcore perfectionist, allowing myself to surrender completely to this principle has been the greatest mountain to climb in my entire life.
