    Hi Lina, my family moved in AL, USDA zone 8b (from TX). I decided to subscribe from u so that I can get some ideas of what blooming & ornamental plants/trees I can plant since we have the same zone. Love your garden!🌺🌺🌺🌷🥀🌹🏵🏵🏵

      Hello fellow zone 8b gardener 🤗 We can grow quite a wide range of plants in our zone and I consider myself lucky to be living and gardening here. I’ve never been to AL but I bet it’s very pretty (I’m visualizing all the camellias and magnolia trees down there 🥰)
      I hope you find some ideas from my garden. And thank you. I appreciate your subscription and leaving a comment 🌿🌸

    Im so jealous of PNW weather! So many roses that are soooo beautiful. You've done a really good job on your garden

    • @Linasgardens
      @Linasgardens  6 місяців тому

      Thank you ☺️ PNW weather isn’t too hot or too cold but I heard that roses love it when it’s really hot. In the southern states they grow many feet in just one season especially the climbers!
      Everything seems to grow well here yes. I guess that’s why it’s called the Evergreen state? 😉 Happy gardening! 🌿🌸

    Garden looks great. I have daisy too and chamoille. I am not sure about them as well. Look nice now but don't want too much of it. If it pops up everywhere i will dig it up and put it along side the road somewhere. Wish i could plant wildflowers along the roads of all the United States it would make it look so much better🤔
    Appreciate your videos.

    Hi Lina. Everything is looking so beautiful. Are you already tying your Strawberry Hill to the trellis, or are you allowing it to grow independently as a shrub?

    • @Linasgardens
      @Linasgardens  Рік тому

      Hi Shelly. Thank you 😊 Yes I already have the stems tied to the trellis. I have Strawberry Hill on a fan-shaped trellis, exactly like the one that the red rose next to it is growing on but Strawberry Hill has grown so much you can hardly see the trellis anymore!
      If I didn’t have the trellis, I highly doubt the stems would be strong enough to stand themselves upright as a shrub though. They flower in clusters and can get heavy. Do you have Strawberry Hill? What has been your experience?
      I appreciate your visiting my garden and leaving a comment :) Happy Gardening 🌿🌸

    Hey Lina your garden always look amazing! I’m curious why you don’t grow any hydrangeas? They are by far my most favorite flowering shrub. I have quite a collection growing in containers.

    • @Linasgardens
      @Linasgardens  Рік тому

      Thank you Sammy! I’m glad you asked because hydrangeas are one of my favorites too! Growing season just doesn’t feel complete without these cotton ball beauties! And yes I do have them in the garden. I have a whole row dedicated to them actually 😅 but I never focus on that section when I do my garden tour videos in the past because they’re so tiny still!! I have 5 planted in a row on the north side of the house. They were one of the first shrubs I planted when I started this garden but they are one of those.. what do you call it? Plants that sleep, creep and leap? This year they’re looking like they’re really getting ready to leap finally! 🙌 Wish me luck! I can’t wait to show them off to the world :) They were one of my first plant babies in this garden.

    I am in Kirkland WA.
    I want to grow the rose climbers similar to yours against my fence. The area receives 4-5 hours of sun from 10-3.
    So you think it is enough for the rose climbers?

    • @Linasgardens
      @Linasgardens  Рік тому

      Hi. Kirkland, so you’re probably in 8A I’m assuming? Roses perform fine in my experience with minimum of 4 hours of sun so I think your situation is just right. As a matter of fact, the flowers don’t last as long if sun is too strong and they’re sitting there getting scorched all day (that’s what I find with some of my roses especially white and pale-colored ones)
      If you’re worried, there are some rose climbers that will tolerate shady conditions as well.
      I believe our summer is perfect for growing climbing rose, especially for a 6-8 ft fence like mine. I read somewhere that in warmer zones, the same climbers will grow and grow and get really tall/long and that can sometimes be a hassle to maintain.
      Happy Gardening!

    By yhe way your Princess Alexandra of Kent rose...does it get full sun and is it onky one shrub in the large pot?Cause it looks full and lush.I really love it.😇

    • @Linasgardens
      @Linasgardens  Рік тому +1

      Aww thank you. Yes it gets full sun, approximately 6-8 hours. And yes that is just the one shrub sitting in that 22inch container. I think it this particular rose that is so healthy and robust because I have Olivia Rose Austin next to it under the same conditions but Olivia Rose Austin is much smaller and not as vigorous, although my Olivia Rose could be facing its own set of problems that only time will tell.
      Princess Anne on the very left is becoming more like Princess Alexandra of Kent in that it’s getting big and flowers a lot too 😊
      Happy Gardening 🌿🌸

    The roses you have in the pots, do you leave them outside all year round?

    • @Linasgardens
      @Linasgardens  6 місяців тому +1

      Yes I do. Roses are incredibly hardy and resilient. The pots that I left sitting directly on the ground had roots growing out of them. The roots went into the ground through the potholes. I had a really hard time moving the pot because the main root got so established deep in the ground. I was wondering why that particular rose was doing so well compared to another pot that was sitting on concrete.
      If you’re planning to place the pot on your driveway or patio, you’ll probably need to water more and change the soil once every few years.

    Nice garden, it would be really nice if the grass was also cut, but if it's only you I'm sure you find it hard to keep up with the whole garden.

    • @Linasgardens
      @Linasgardens  Рік тому +1

      Thank you :) You’re probably right about the grass! I have such a love/hate relationship with my lawn. It takes a lot of water to keep it lush green and when it grows, which it does quickly, you gotta mow it back down only to repeat the cycle all season long… sigh. As time goes by, I find that I keep adding flower beds and have less and less lawn. But it does act as a nice green canvas for my flowers so that’s a plus.
      Oh yes gardening is strictly my hobby so I do all of the planting and garden maintenance by myself. My husband helps mows the lawn but I usually ask him to maintain the front lawn more than the back just to avoid letters from the HOA - again, love/hate relationship with my lawn 😅

    Which one do you prefer golden celebration or roald dahl?

    • @Linasgardens
      @Linasgardens  Рік тому

      Ooh that’s a tough one. To admire from a distance, definitely Roald Dahl. It’s a happy little shrub rose - neat compact round and lush. To have near a seating area, definitely Golden Celebration - huge blooms with heavenly fragrance.
      If I could change one thing, I’d plant Golden Celebration in the area along my fence which is 2 feet above ground so when the flowers droop, which they often do due to their weight and size, I’ll be able to admire the blooms without having to bend down.
      Thanks for the question, it made me think :)

      @taishakuten5141 Рік тому

      @@Linasgardens I just ordered golden celebration just for the bright yellow color and fragrance it has. I don’t know but I’m the odd one who likes roses that bows her blooms like Olivia and Golden Celebration 😆

      @@Linasgardens you’re welcome, it’s a native so it doesn’t run like the Japanese honeysuckle. The only thing is that even some native honeysuckle can get humongous over the years buts it’s easily pruned. I have like every type in my garden and they’re all my faves. The hummingbirds love them. 🤣❤️
