@@jackien.456 yeah, that would great! I always love an old school recipe. I'm an elementary school cafeteria chef and we make some good newer things, but some of the absolute best recipes are from those elderly church ladies and ones that are passed down through the generations.

This is my all time favorite cookie. I first tried them and got her recipe from a girl in my 9th grade Home Economics class holiday cookie share. She called them Mexican Wedding Cookies, I later learned them as Sand Tarts. Addictive! My mother was an at home professional baker, Christmas was a production. Mother had a cookie gun that had different shapes like christmas trees, reindeer, etc. A lot of different cakes. Divinity.

Good morning, everyone! My mother would make almost this same recipe but with ground nuts added into the dough. Whatever kind she happened to have on hand. Could have been pecans, walnuts or almonds. She would roll them in the powdered sugar hot out of the oven. It was intended for the sugar to melt. But once cooled, she would sift the powdered sugar on top and they looked so pretty. They were so delicate, they would melt in your mouth! Mmmm...I miss her. She was a master baker with an Angels touch. And THIS was my favorite!! Thanks for the memories, Miss Paula!! 😊💖 A wonderful day to all...💕 XOXO

My favorite Christmas cookies are the classic sugar ones, with thick colored frosting, in the shape of bells, trees, candy canes, etc. When I was growing up, our neighbor always brought us a tray of these every single year, and I absolutely loved them. I should let her know! I'm 34 now, and I bet she'd be tickled to hear that.

My momma made a sugar cookie recipe she got out of a very old institutional cookbook. She would cut the recipe into an eighth of the original recipe, and we'd still get about 8-10 dozen cookies out of it...depending on what cookie cutters we used. I LOVED THOSE COOKIES!!! They were from a non refrigerated dough... just mix it up, roll it out and cut and bake cookies! THEY WERE THE BEST SOFT SUGAR COOKIES EVER!!! When her house burned down, the cookbook naturally was lost... I've NEVER been able to find another sugar cookie recipe that comes anywhere close to those cookies...

Our lifelong family favorite are Melt in the Mouth Cookies. It is a very thin cookie with ground pecans in it and they only bake for 5-6 minutes. Parchment paper is a must for baking as if you take them off the cookie sheet too soon they will tear but if you leave them on too long you almost have to chisel them off. Parchment paper was a game changer for this cookie!

Paula, my mother used to make these for Christmas and she would tint half of them green and half of them red. Then she'd shape them into candy canes. When they're coated with powdered sugar, they're really pretty. My sister took it a step farther. She would have a color theme for her tree every year and match these cookies to it like silver and blue or gold and red. You just need to brush them with edible metallic looking glaze while they're still warm before you dip them in the sugar. It turns out really pretty to put out a plate of them when people come over.

Yes they’re Lady Fingers, I’m from GA. I’m used to them having nuts mixed in with the dough.

Eddie, you are thinking of the Greek cookie, Kourabiedes. We always liked date n nut spiral cookies, thumbprints with a dab of strawberry jam, ladylocks, which were a lot of work but they were so good! Also, miniature nut horns (my mom used to make) and linzer cookies with blackberry jelly (sandwich type cookie), very pretty!

Sugar Cookies. Mom had a Snuff glass that had a star pattern in the bottom of it and she would dip it in sugar and press them out. They came out with a Lacey looking star on top. They were pretty and tasted soooo good! Finger lickin' good. Love you Paula.
