    I watched every Villanova game this year, and JQ just straight up played lazy basketball. No defense, refused to pass, couldn’t knock down shots. He has no intangibles, he was challenged for the first time in his career with a bench role and he wilted.

      Heard an interview with Jay Wright midway through the season and he addressed JQ's lack of minutes. Essentially said JQ was unplayable because of his defensive limitations and until he got on board with understanding the ins and outs of D1 defense he wasn't gonna play. Guess he never bought in?

      I was really rooting for JQ. I kinda saw Isaiah was ass. But JQ had a lil somethin more to him.
      I think it was a bad business decision for JQ choosing Nova... he needed to go to a D1 lower known college. Where he coulda had the keys.
      All the things he was bad at, they challenged in Nova meaning it was put on display
      Unlike if he had the keys, his strengths would be shown (yeah i know he’d still have hella TO’s defensive lapses but not as bad as on Nova)

    In the case of Jahvon Villanova is one of the last pedigree University where Freshmen dont play much and the system rules. We would have flourished out west. In the case of Washington...you have it completely wrong... He has all of the things you denied...he is Tim Hardawayesque around the basket. He can shoot a triple in transition and standing still...he can shoot mid range. A wide array of shots. Dont believe ... He dropped 26 on National Champion Michigan ... He had a bevy of lay ups against State in the tournament. He slumped shooting but he never got a chance to get a rhythm. Most importantly he is a pure point guard with eccellent skills as a facillitator. On multiple occassions in the rigidity of whats called the Minnesota weave offense he had double digit assist games 13 14 15 assists...in wins. Then he sat for 7 straight games. This is a case of a coach wanting the fancy car and being afraid to drive it so he goes back to the mini van then realizing he was being looked at differently. Dont blame the car (no disrespect in the metaphor). Lets talk philosophy if Pitino seeing Isaiahs whole package (pause) didnt want to let him transform the program and the energy why bring him out there to languish? We always want to blame the kid but they didnt break bad...they are who they are coaches are playing bait and switch. Micro managing great talent is always a mistake. When Tom Crean realized that D Wade could take over games from all three tiers he adapted. The other players followed because its easier for them. Great creators can play with anyone .... All their skills imply is learn to position yourself and i will make you a 🌟...thats what Washington and Quinerly can do

    • @stuntedgrowth
      @stuntedgrowth  5 років тому +3

      Good point. I see it differently, but that's ok. Tim Hardaway played in the 90s. This ain't that. Isaiah would eat in the 90s. I disagree that he's a pure point guard. I think he wants to score first. He has had some games where that wasn't the case, but that's not him to his core. He's a scorer. His acceleration isn't elite level at that size, making him a none threat in transition. He needs to work on changing his game. Right now he plays like he's 6'4. Heso shots and 3 moves to get by. He needs to be able to finish, floaters and get to the basket in 1 move. Wish him the best.
      Quinerly.... That's some bs what Villanova and any program that still subscribe to that don't play freshman shit. wtf? Play the guy. That's the best example of having an expensive car and not driving it. foh nova. Why bring him in then. I like Quin, a lot!

      @@stuntedgrowth great comment. Isaiah is from my neighborhood from my rec center I have watched since he was 11 and he has always been a phenom. He is a natural scoring guard like mist averaged sized guards because thats how you win in biddy or mini (our little leagues). When you are young the hardest thing is putting the ball in the basket ...hence how we get young hype beast. Isaiah is not one ...he transitioned to St Rays and his peers got taller stronger and better ...he could still score at will but when paired with better athletes he played pure set up man Stocktonesque. He is always a step ahead. He rebounds well his defense techniques could improve alot but he recessed with Pitino a sign of the environment. He put on muscle lost some speeed bit he has the athletic ability.
