  • Today’s feature was part of an internet sensation that went viral in 2017 called Jelly Fam, which really consisted of undersized guards attempting to make not being blessed with the physical tools like size and athleticism cool, by adding more sugar if you will to their moves, specifically how they finished at the rim. Quinerly was not just one of the Jelly Fam, he was a McDonald’s All American who was supposed to have been the star of the show and future face of the brand behind Isaiah Washington. What made Quinerly so special and fit for that role was he had the look, the youth, and most importantly. of them all, he actually had a shot at making the NBA. He was that talented as a ball handler, scorer and distributor, unlike Washington who was really a shooting guard trapped in a point guard’s body that didn’t score well enough or assist well enough, and at his size and disinterest on the defensive end, presented a liability when on the floor for high level basketball. People became hyped about Jahvon because he was still young at that point, with his whole future in front of him and a developing fanbase on the internet. Immediately got off to a rocky start entering college under FBI investigation for corruption in college basketball, then not being a great fit at his first school, losing their support with one social media post, to transferring and having success before going down at the finish line, to watching younger players come in and leave him behind, to now transferring once again to his third school and what would be his 6th year on the NCAA level, almost solidifying an NBA opportunity may be off the table, and the official end to an internet sensation. Jordan walker is the real deal. I played with him for my AAU team. We had a kid on the team who's dad was stupid rich and threw $ at the team to make it a dope ass experience so we got a bunch of st Pats kids like jwalker, buay coca (7footer) Jamir Harris, kid named AL(he was a freshman I think) that I think went to syracuse and a couple more from pats. But bro jwalker had this crazy level of finesse that was like no other and was pulling three's 6+ feet behind the three point line. Always knew that him and Al were the real deal. My favorite part of their game was how light they were on their feet. If you cut them off at any point they could so effortlessly change directions as if they had no inertia🤣 It was fun as hell. If jwalk wasn't so little he'd be a top player in a few years ez

I don’t understand this video , i feel like he’s met expectations solidly, to have stunted growth u would have to underachieve, he’s performed very well relative to his athleticism that caps his potential, he’s been very productive on great teams for the last few seasons and was going to be considered by teams as a two way or g league player had he come out this year , he’s going to for sure be a professional in a solid league if not the nba if that’s what he desires, I’m actually pleasantly surprised with how his college career has gone after his Villanova stint

A living testament as to how engaging in social media trends won’t take you to the league and how highlight culture is indeed hurting the game like Austin Rivers said in a video. MJ already told y’all he built his game on FIRE more than flash. Guys like the Jellyfam crew reversed the order and learned the hard way the price of social media fame! Remember, folks… take it from someone who played at the college level… flash = athleticism and “gifts”. Fire = hard work, determination and knowing your fundamentals. That’s why you saw Vince Carter transitioning from high flyer to shooter and stayed in the league as long as he did.

In my opinion, excellent players like Quinerly, Nowell and Walker can't be judged in this way on such poor criteria.

Could've stopped the vid when he decommitted from Zona for something out of his hands and what would've been a great situation for him and having to go to Nova who was set. Now when you don't get mins because they're set with their lineup you lose that year and a transfer year and now NBA scouts are looking at you different because you've now been in school 3 years. That means when when my son was 13 years old starting in the backcourt with Immanuel Quickley, 14u, JQ was at least 16?😳
He’s too small, too weak, too slow, a defensive liability, and TOO OLD! Now that he’s playing against kids closer to his age, the game has caught up to him. I know what I’m talking about. a lot of hype leaving high school but relied too much on talent. Like most college players didn't develop any above average passing, scoring or defensive skills. I wish they had a Rajon Rondo type of coach on college teams to show them how to create a competitive advantage by doing the intangibles . Maybe he finds his way in the G league and then eventually in the professional leagues in Europe or even NBA ✌ ✌

Wouldn’t really say stunted growth, wasn’t that good to begin with….he atleast recovered and made a career out his game

Yeah. He couldn't shoot out of high school and he was almost 20 going into his freshman year of college. Undersized, ball dominant guards with a Shakey jumper and limited explosiveness usually aren't considered high level prospects.

Even doe they not inna league, they still turned the world on its head an created they own hype, with all the rise of social media, the players that didn’t make the league(I say that because I keep seeing Naz Reid inna comments) all should’ve marketed themselves like the Harlem Globetrotters an went around the world an did shows cuz even doe compared to NBA players, they have things working against them, to a regular 9-5 mf who working check to check, seeing Jelly Fam is the closet they gon get to league talent

How you gonna make a video bashing him like this ? He entered the transfer portal to now increase his chances of getting to the NBA. If it wasn’t for his injury then he would have been in the NBA already. No way you can say his growth was stunned when he played 36 games coming off surgery lol plus win the SEC championship????? That’s just nuts !

Could play overseas.. nba no. He’s 24 years old. The fact that he’s known more for the “jelly fam” than his actual game should tell you enough

He's a college graduate and still playing the game he loves. That means something in a country where white supremacists think it's funny to call our people Basketball Americans as an insult. I wish him the best.

It’s money in street ball. Jelly Fam could link backup and be a make shift AND1 team playing against OT, Friga, BallisLife and etc. They trippin everybody don’t make the league.
