I agree with you, to survive you needs all the factors support from boss ,client and team. I have seen many senior managers earning very high salary above 50 lakhs and they do normal work nothing extra ordinary and yet seen some juniors who are earning leass between 20 to 25 lakhs are sacked as they are not required or their role was redutant or non performing . So the moral of the story is in IT industry there is no rule to have secure jobs that means less salary does not mean one is safe, but sometimes with very high paying salary people who are working as director or engineering manager can survive easily as there is no competitor from him. So think what skills you have and for the same skills how many competitor you have in your project

Found good insights on this useful and important topic, Anand. Would like to add my observations. Many times people just don't co-operate with you as you got a better salary at time of joining. This is a very dangerous situation since a huge bunch of people along with their contacts in other departments and / or on client end may be aimed to harm us intentionally without any of our fault. Sometimes management does not support and the person gets thrown to the corporate sharks . I worked in a printing carton manufacturing company where people working for decades had very old pay scales. It so happened that an engineer who got recently recruited got rs 10,000 more than his manager who was there since a decade. So now we can imagine what may happen. Will any HR or management ever gather courage to solve this issue ? They know this very clearly.
Management in Indian companies, specifically service based, is pathetic. Most likely you will face multiple people to account to... !! These so called managers are impolite, and demanding because they bend over for the clients to justify their unrealistic commitments. Be very careful with such people. Normally, such people stick on to the company for years by playing cheap politics. In the end they will just dump all the blame on you.

During lockdown companies hired engineers offering twice or thrice the package. Later they realized it was un-necessary to pay so much. Now companies are either forcing those engineers to leave or make them work twice the hard.
