So in total, how many hours would this build be?
I honestly don't know. I was designing and filming as I went, so I have no real idea of the time. Maybe someone in here who has made it from the patterns would like to share their experiences?
@@Gett_Raccd was that marking out all the parts, cutting and gluing as well including paint?
@@richardpaul2241 The pack has taken me about 20 hours so far, probably have a few hours to go. No idea on the wand yet.
from my experience the pack took me 2 weeks to build cause i was making it whilst having exams but the wand has taken me 1 day and no idea how long this part will take me
@@theoddalien great, thank you, I'm now thinking of gathering materials and working out some simple electronics for the pack and wand
This turned out fantastic. With screen accurate packs costing several hundred dollars and weighing a ton, a light, relatively cheap alternative that looks this good is a godsend. So many more people are going to be able to enter the hobby because of this who otherwise may have been intimidated or priced out.
It really is amazing what can be done with common materials....and a bit of patience:)
@@LostWax It really does take a *lot* of patience. I can't imagine how much would be required to design it!
Try several thousand unless you bought the haslab pack.
I'm going to take this project on myself. Its hard to justify spending 250 on the new spirit pack that still needs some work done to it to make it "right".
I'm going to try this to get one the way I want it off the bat, plus I can add the lights as I see fit! This will be about the journey of making it, not the actual prop.
Wow. Such detail. Enjoyed watching.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love the end result 👌 👏
Yes, I was really happy with the result too!
Super duper !
Love the voiceover ! 🙃
Yay, thank you!
“and that will look awkward…on the news.” Too funny!
Great video series. Thank you. Keep up great content
Thanks, will do!
The end result looks great! I already added some lights to my wand and made a tiny compartment in the pack so I can place my phone there and it can make sounds. Loved this series of vids and now I have a cool prop to show off and display 😎
That's a great idea to stick a phone in there!! Love it:)
Absolutely brilliant. I can attest to having a HEAVY scratch built pack. Its around 20-30lbs of wood, electronics and metal. This is phenomenal.
Yeah, that kind of weight would get heavy after a while.....
I bought one from a scalper on eBay just so my son had one for his birthday, but I can’t wait to build one of Chris’s wands for myself. Thanks again!
You're welcome!
This was a great series. I hope you try doing a Ghost Trap in the future as well.
Probably not right away, but maybe sometime in the future.....
I have to say, this by far has been one of my favorite series build on proton packs. I have one myself that I built and it’s full resin with a lot of metal parts, but this is just awesome!
Wow, thanks!
thank you now I can finish my proton pack
Have fun!
I couldn’t help but stumble upon this again, and I can’t get over how creative your craftsmanship is. WELL WELL DONE!
Thank you so much!
He's an icon ✨
He's a legend 💖
And he is the moment 😤
Now come on now!
😁
Absolutely brilliant!
That would be awesome with lights and sound!!! Great job 👏🏻
Yes, totally! I gotta learn a bit more about electronics I think!
This was very satisfying to watch. Amazing work.
Wow! Such attention to detail. I love how this turned out.
Thank you so much!
I’ve been waiting for this one! Superb build man. Cant wait to get started on mine!
Awesome! Thank you!
yaaaayyy!! a new lost wax video! always fun to watch!
thanks bro, you are an amazing builder...cheers!!
I purchased this pdf set literally right as soon as it was first available and its absolutely amazing you have literally made it possible for almost anyone to have a screen accurate proton pack for far less money then most other proton packs available around the world. Anyways thank you very much from a fellow Canadian Ghostbusters fan.
Awww, cool, glad to help out another Canadian!!
Wonderful.
Well this is definitely gonna help for the v hook and the acrylic pipe since my method was very different
Great!
Really admire your creativity and ability to kit bash random objects. It looks fantastic, better than a spirit pack for sure. I assembled a 3d printed ghost trap and thought that was fun but a lot of work and messy. Its harder when you don't quite have the proper tools too lol
Thanks so much! And yes, having the right tools really helps. They don't necessarily need to be the most expensive, as long as they do the job:)
Man you are a freakin’ genius! Love it!
Wow, thanks!
Utterly amazing, as usual.
Thank you!
100+, outstanding work!!!!
Thank you very much!
I love this proyect man! the best foam proton pack biuld I have seen. Easy but full detail! congratulations!!!
Wow, thanks!
These came out amazing!
Thanks!
Unlike Ray Stanz....YOU ARE A GOD. AWESOME BUILD!!!!!
Thank you!
Amazing work. I hope you have the Ghost meter and the ghost trap on your future radar of foam magic. I have to get back to my pack. Thanks for the incredible work.
I might do a ghost trap sometime, but I'm gonna take a bit of a break from GB and do some other projects for a while.
Another awesome tutorial. Thanks again! I used one of those foam mats with a large diamond plate pattern on the back. I was able to make it work, but the pattern was pretty pronounced (i.e., deep), and so there were gaps when I put it next to another piece. Sanding helped a bit, but there were still some places where I had to go back and use some paintable caulk to fill in the gaps. Not a big deal if you are using hot glue, but I used contact cement for a more heat-resistant bond. The moral of my story... get foam that is as possible on the back side!
Yes! The smoother it is, the easier to work with.
Looks awesome!!!
Thanks!
So freakin cool! Thanks for sharing!
You bet!
that was awesome. now that the pack is done, will you make the muon ghost trap next ?
I think I'll move on to something not GB for a bit. Maybe later though....
awesome, i'm working off your templates for this, going great so far. Thank you
Great to hear!
Wow that is amazing. Can't wait to start on mine. Keep up the good work 😊
Thanks, I hope it works out well for you!
@@LostWax thanks me too, I don't quite have the skills you have though
Not only are you a talented craftsman, but an amazing video editor. I don't think people realize how much work goes into splicing video together, especially a how-to video of this quality!
Amazing job on the pack and video - love it!
Thank you so much! It's a nice feeling to have my work valued by someone who understands what all goes into it 😊
I’m in the middle of doing the installation video for gpstars haslab kit and yes it’s a lot of work! Mine won’t turn out nearly as good as lostwax in terms of quality but takes a lot of time nonetheless!
Amazing.
Would like to see you do one for a ghost trap. That would be great. Getting ready to build this myself.
ohhh, now I am going to be like "I aint afraid of no ghosts!!" :p It is another great design! But now, do more steampunk!! want either steam punk umbrella looking thing or maybe another cool hat! :p
What kind of hat would you like to see? Also, I've been thinking of doing a teacup holster pretty soon.
@@LostWax that sounds cool!! trying to picture it, cant wait to see it! This will fit either the pirate or flintlock guns? nice!
@@SeareanMoon Actually it's a holster for an actual teacup and saucer. You know for having a nice cup of tea at any moments notice. Pretty random but fun:)
@@LostWax oh, I love it!!
Thks you very much !
You're welcome!
We just lost Ivan Reitman 1946-2022 no better time than now to honour him by building these packs, been half awake all night, thinking and dreaming of making this pack, probably why because of ivan passing R.i.P ivan
Oh, that is sad news. Thanks for sharing it.
Awesome
Wow.. these videos will be invaluable when I do my own pack. Thanks again for sharing :D
BTW You know you've done it right when the prop guy from Ghostbusters afterlife thinks your proton pack tutorials are awesome!
You're so welcome. And yes, Ben is a great guy, I am really honoured that he likes my build:)
Amazing!
Thanks Ben!
Cool! You da man 😎
😁
The 100th video on this channel. Nice
😁
Good job, that looks awesome! If I was a ghost I'd be very afraid ;)
Thanks! 😄
I build my pack from fiberglass shell and 3d printed parts plus electronics and the Hasbro wand. Weights like 35 pounds and I can't wear it lol. Gonna have to build one of these 😆 🤣.
Yeah, when I started this project I didn't realize how heavy a lot of packs are. It's a good alternative, though probably not quite as tough...
You are amazing, the tutorials and plans are so easy to follow I can't wait to get started. I've been looking for a lightweight Pack for my back and YOU DID IT!!! THANK YOU. Any chance you'd make a tutorial showing how to make a Ghost Trap or Ecto Goggles? YOU ROCK!
Thanks so much! I'm glad these tutorials can be helpful! I might do a trap later on, but I'm gonna take a break from GB for a bit and do some other projects I've been meaning to get to....
Thank you so much for these tutorials. I made a proton pack following them. I e-mailed you photo’s of the result. Did you get them?
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
2022 People in USA having trouble finding a clear tube, go to the party supplies at walmart and look for the cheap kids toys sold for goodie bags. There are tubes of bubbles the right size that have blinking LED lights built in the end.
Nice tip.
Dude looks amazing!!! As a fellow Canadian I’m wondering if you have any extra pieces left over that I can have to help make my build a little cheaper? 😁just a question
Hey fellow Canadian! What part of Canada are you in?
@@LostWax Toronto 😊
@@whiterabbit1824 Ah, cool, I'm near Winnipeg. Too bad you aren't nearby. I don't really have any parts that would be worthwhile to ship, it costs so much to send anything nowadays....
How near, I’m in Winnipeg.
nice job spengler ..up for a hotdog? :)
It would be nice if there were a photo gallery of the finished product
That's a good idea, I will try to get a quick blog post set up or something, and then include a bunch of pics. Probably be a week tho.
I wasn’t trying to be pushy just thought this beautiful work of art needs recorded for prosperity a very nice benchmark in prop replica’s
@@johnhibbard1355 No, not pushy at all, I really appreciate input on what will make these projects more accessible for everyone!
Honestly, I would just recommend buying a 3d printer and hitting up the facebook group (open source 3d printable files on github). I think it produces much more accurate results for the price and cost of materials than trying to make it scratch out of foam and molds and such. Its not super hard to do and these days Ender 3's run about $100 on sale (specific coupons).
That being said this method is cool and its nice seeing what kind of results people get with all different kinds of methods. Everyone's will be different!
Yes, that's also a great way to make a pack!
some people just like to get "hands on" and build it themselves
Can you recommend any foam for the handle grip? (the thin black you heated and put over it?)
The foam I used was from a large roll I bought at Michaels. Pretty much any cheap craft foam will work. In this case you don't want the high density stuff because that makes it harder to form.
You should turn this into the proton pack from Ghostbusters afterlife
It would be cool, but it's unlikely I'll get around to it in the near future....
Just a second question I'm curious if you would make the Ghostbusters afterlife proton pack so that we can see the inner parts of the cyclotron just like in the movie when Phoebe is rebuilding the pack with Egons help. Anyways this would be so amazing if you could and even if you don't think that you can or will would you please let me know either yes or no so i can keep looking for the best way for me to get an afterlife proton pack.
Thanks again absolutely love this everyone who has seen my pack i made from this pdf set has no idea its foam until I tell them because it looks so good and exactly like the screen used proton packs I've even had a few people ask if id build them one like mine so rather than take all the fun from them i told them where they can get your pdf set and where i got all my supplies only thing i shared was my tools.anyways thanks again this is amazing i love it so much i literally almost don't go a single day without putting it on my back i even purchased a proton pack sound kit and light kit and smoke kit and made it look even more real.😊👍
I likely won't be making the afterlife pack. Sadly, just not enough time.... I am so glad you like your pack though and have had good response from others!! Take care:)
how much did it cost in total to make the proton pack and the proton wand
Are you going to do a build like the trap or the PKE meter
Probably not in the near future. Maybe in the far future though.
Come on! We want all the tools now
its a shame you wont take commissions, cuz I would buy one this instant!!! all in all how much did it cost for materials?
and great series btw :)
To be honest I have no idea how much I spent on materials. I'm gonna guess that it was under $100. Of course I already had the glues and other tools.....
@@LostWax cool if you change your mind about commission, let me know ;)
@@raynekraven will do!
@@LostWax FYI I already contacted you a while ago ;)
The Ghost Trap next????
I'm probably gonna take a bit of a break from GB and do some other projects, though at some point I would like to complete the costume, so you might see it sometime in the future....
How much money was this in total including the proton pack?
I honestly don't know, and it so depends on where you live and where you can source the materials. I'm guessing it cost me under $100 but I did already have some of the materials.
:)
8 LBS!@#$@#???? nice dude
Thanks!
Ah yes, plastics and wood, makes for a loooooong life span....
Finished the whole project and everyone thinks I bought it lol. I’ll tag you on Instagram so u can see mine! Also I made mine so it looked like the afterlife one so it may be a little bit different but it still looks great. Oh and btw I managed to put some lights in the neutrona wand so it looks super cool
That's fantastic, Can't wait to see it!!
