The worlds second biggest permanent art collection is also in London -the V&A (Victoria &Albert Museum) is also stuffed full of art and statuary from around the world, about 4 million pieces, or half that of the British Museum. The Rosetta stone is one important piece of history. it was the thing that help us understand ancient Egyptian writing for the first time. That writing was translated into ancient Greek which we worked backwards from to learn Egyptian. it was a real breakthrough in understanding language.
A good few years since I was there and what a wonderful space it is. Each gallery is so well designed, as is each exhibition. You could spend weeks in there and never run out of things to see and learn. Thanks for sharing.

Kudos to the architect! Imagine having to keep that place clean and shining. I wonder how long it would take to see every exhibit. Thank you for a great tour.
Great exploration inside British Museum. Tnx4d free tour around the largest permanent collection in the world. Well documented. Good job well done ActionKid.

Action Kid you have done a great service to London. They should give you an award. And you should at least be New Yorker of the week on NY1. Dont know why it hasnt happened yet.
Visiting London for my first time in about a week and a half. I'm super excited and your videos have been pretty nice to watch for preparation. I'm curious, how long did you spend here at the British Museum in total?
What a nice museum, almost like the Met. This is the first time you filmed in a museum and you did a good job with the pacing. Was hoping you could do this in NY too, but security is tighter and there's too many filming / photo rules. It was nice not seeing Security bothering you here.
For London museums I suggest Victoria and Albert Museum, Science Museum and Natural History Museum all near each other in South Kensington. Then also the War Museum (Lambeth North tube) I never bother with he British Museum
The large, light-colored cylindrical structure under the glass roof that we encounter on entering via the main entrance occupies what was the reading room of the British Library. The reading room has moved to the library's new building at 96 Euston Road. The museum looks spiffier and more colorful than I remember it. So it's obviously being maintained very well indeed. The argument over returning ancient objects to the lands where they were found rages on. At its root, the argument is about money, since the countries of origin now believe their income from tourism would increase if the artifacts were home again. But meanwhile, we can still see them wherever they now reside.
I'm almost sure there are no financial interests involved in these claims. I see it as adjustments attempt related to the current time only. For this to happen, people need to approach it frankly. Until that, those materials are well protected were they are. I believe.
@@planetpluto430: For countries of origin, the financial considerations in having their artifacts returned involve the number of tourists that might see the artifacts at home instead of traveling to English museums.
It's sad, because it's not open to see, and it's really historic. Various people from Bram Stoker to Karl Marx (his seat was G7) used it daily to work in. Next year they may be running guided tours in there, but it's mostly used for archiving now. After all the work to save it and glaze over the court.
Hi AK. If the exhibition is free for people to enter, I saw you should have give it a closer look to your viewers in the appropriate time you spend doing so. Why not?
I pretty much promised myself that I would never visit the British museum since they keep a lot of artifacts belonging to other nations (stolen ofc) against those nations wishes, who want their cultural artifacts returned. So this is a great way to see it without paying the entrance fee 😅 thanks so much for the video
