Also shows how much he learned of his brother since this is a classic police tactic used to trap suspects, it forces them to expose something, think about it the only way you can avoid exposing yourself for such a question is to not answer
Gus would have to break character regardless of how he answered, he was almost annoyed that walt who is reckless and unpredictable would compare himself to him who is the complete opposite, so broke character just to correct walt
If he agreed with him he would be confirming to walt that he really is the guy that he needs to talk too, so either way walt would have got him to confess even if he didn't want too just by answering the question, I think gus also pepped this and respected the move

Gus would then go on to use this against walt by purposely siding with jessie to force him to cook again although he told walt he doesn't trust junkies lool, shows they are alike and intelligent in same area's for the most part just key differences that separates them, walt's pride a lot stronger than gus, so was his ego, what gus did to force walt's hand would never work if walt had to use same tactic on him

I know they were both guilty of not having a good partner ship but I think it was more Gus's fault because he was going to Kill Walt anyway just because it was to risky to have someone knowing the existence of his operation without being an active participant of it (he was going to use Walter for three months and then kill him or letting cancer kill him). However I don't think Walter was ever going to expose him.
