The runs on the word "Warm" both solos and combined are what really sell this to me. Each one was crisp and precise and in the singers' strong voice zone.
This is in my VoicePlay Top 10 because it is so gorgeous. Love the bar, the glasses of Tennessee Whiskey. My dad was a bartender in Cocoa Beach back in the day when the astronauts strolled in and had a couple of drinks. When he got a job working for Lockheed-Martin working on the missile-carrying nuclear submarines, he missed his bar, so we enlarged the yard, doubled the size of the front room and put a bar in there. He had some of his favorites come to the house for a drink. It reminds me of some unusual good times back in the mid60s and 70s..

This song had never crossed my path before so I had nothing to compare it to but as usual, like all their stuff, it was done really well by VoicePlay.
I think they took their cue from the word "Smooth" 😉!! Love their acapella interpretation! 🌹🕊
I had not heard the song before Voiceplay's version, so had nothing to compare it to. The riffs and runs were amazing, each individual, but when Eli, J None, and Earl did the run in 3 part harmony it was unbelievable. Layne's arrangement, Geoff didn't think he was serious when he was told to practise runs because basses don't do that.

I really like both versions CS and VP, one country one doowop (which i have a real weakness for) both are on our playlists. Good music cam cross genres without losing any of it's impact or message .Wonderful reaction. Someone recorded this in one of their shows on a phone and it still sounded great.

When Layne started arranging this he told the guys to start practicing runs. But he noticed Geoff didn’t. He ask him about it and Geoff said basses don’t do runs. Layne told him to get practicing because in his arrangement they do!
