Yeah, except the Romans are just credited for literally everything because they conquered Gaul and Britain. If conventional academia could, and it weren't for hard archeological evidence, the Romans would also be credited for inventing metallurgy, the Viking longship, the recurve bow, the chariot and the taming of horses 🙄. That was the Scythians, as we now know. Also for another example, it was actually the Gauls who invented the famous Roman shields and the horseshoe and many other things we credit Romans for. The Gauls were master smiths and craftsmen.

The film's themes of religious satire were controversial at the time of its release, drawing accusations of blasphemy and protests from some religious groups. Thirty-nine local authorities in the United Kingdom imposed either an outright ban or an X (18 years) certificate. Some countries, including Ireland and Norway, banned its showing, and in a few of these, such as Italy, bans lasted over a decade. This whole thing always cracks me up because I AM Reg, more or less! But really it's the wrong question. It's not what the Romans have given you or taken from you, if you just don't like being conquered, if you just don't like their attitude. Ted Rall had a cartoon book about this kind of thing in Afghanistan: ( After We Kill You, We Will Welcome You Back as Honored Guests: Unembedded in Afghanistan ), as I recall in one strip an Afghan fighter is basically saying that they don't really have anything against the Russians as such, but they just can not stand to be occupied and will fight to the death against it... but they would love to have you VISIT. Something like that.

@@arrielradja5522 India was under the thumb of Mughals and practiced bride burning before the British Raj. The British brought with them science, medicine, trains, telegraph, printing, manufacturing, sanitation, law and order (thug is an indian word as you know), peace etc. etc. etc.
Indians have a massive inferiority complex about this and are often the most disgustingly woke people out of pure resentment.

Until this important film was made, there was no correct historial record of the period. I've been using the film in my history lessons for several years now and am always impressed with the questions it encourages from my students... and their parents.

+irllcd13 so you think your current government is morally comparable to that of the Romans? And that crucifixion, enslavement, wars of conquest, and bloody power struggles are necessary for civilization to exist? That's a rather cynical view of the world. I mean Mussolini made the trains run on time- that doesn't mean he was a good person.
