2010 Patriot....great idea to try and insert a relay and bypass the Inst cluster and TPIM. Follwed your path, removed the inner fender cover and surgically passed two wires through the main harness rubber boot up inside the fender/A pillar and out into the under dash valley. However, I chose to tap into the horn wire at the horn itself and install a mirco toggle switch just under the turn signal switch. One wire to the horn, the other wire to the male horn spade that leads to the TPIM. When the horn acts up every few days i just toggle switch the horn off. If I think i will need to use the horn i switch the toggle back on, or if i need to find my vehicle in a big parking lot i can still use the FOB panic button to find the car. So far so good. Thank you again for the idea.

I have a 2010 patriot will the wire on mine be the same color as yours? Where do I find a wiring diagram to make sure it is the same color. Everything is perfect on this car except the horn. Why they would put the horn through a computer/ circuit board is crazy. I refuse to purchase a 200 plus dollar computer/ circuit board to fix a horn, also I don't want to run wires to a push button rigged on the dash. Great vid looking for the schematic. Thanks

What color is the computer horn wire? I’m having problems with a open circuit, keep starts when it wants to.

The relay box down below the left headlight assembly should have the Horn Relay inside it. My 2010 Patriot has a lot of corrosion down there so I'm gonna open it up and see what all needs to be cleaned off, or the plugs replaced. That way it's still stock. No TIPM or ecm needs to be replaced....

Interesting. I was under the impression the horn was intergrated into the alarm sysytem. Lemme know how it works out:)

I got down under the left front, removed the relay box and someone had removed the left rear relay and wired it up directly. Whomever it was decided to use female connectors that were too large. 1 was so loose, I doubt it was working properly and another one wasn't plugged in because the person decided not to make the leads longer, so it couldn't reach where the relay was taped up at. They also used clear packing tape lol. It was damp when I got to it Wednesday morning. I've gotta find schematics for this vehicle. I'm not sure what those relays control but at least now they're all on and tight. I forgot to test the horn until this morning, which still doesn't work. Last night I started thinking, after I removed 3 ground pigtails because of all the corroded wires and actually started the Jeep up a few times as I added ground wires to the pigtails, then as I moved from one to another, plus add the fact that the vehicle had that one relay with power running through it since yesterday, I thought, damn, I haven't been checking or clearing the fault codes off the ecm after I ended up doing all that work to it. No wonder that I still had lights flashing on the dashboard. There were 8 fault codes & 4 of the 8 sounded like expensive repairs if i had to take it to a shop. So I cleared the fault codes, made sure everything was right, under the hood, I test drove it and ran it for a couple miles, then would do the same route again and again since the check engine light was now off and so far, (as I just knocked on this wooden folding table that my laptop is sitting on. As of today, the engine sounds great, the trans shifts really well and I'm down to no horn working and the 4WD! warning light coming on every time I drive 1.0 to 2.0 miles. I've just been so frustrated with this Jeep I forgot to clear codes, unhook the battery and all that simple no brain needed stuff that you're supposed to be doing after you do all that electronics work. It'll be 1 year next week when I bought this Jeep and all those warning lights so far are a thing of the past. The previous owner didn't hold vehicle maintenance very high on their list. Plus now that I've been fixing all of the corroded grounding wires, it seemed like each day it would actually start to run better. Apart from the horn still not working mystery, I had to laugh when I thought about when I first thing I worked on last October, (now check this out.) In order to fix the ''Air Bag light issue'', I was told to disconnect the power to the front seats one seat at a time, then plug the power back into the one, then start the vehicle to see if the Air Bag light stayed lit, or if it was off. The front passenger seat cured that issue. How crazy is that...
Ya know, the ignition is really loose, like it's about to fall apart. There's so much slop when ya go to turn it on, I'm wondering if that alone could be causing any problems... I bought a 1993 Jeep Cherokee about 3 weeks ago and I'll tell ya, it's a real treat to be back in a Jeep that has, probably 90% less integrated electronics built into it. As for that horn, I'm gonna go back outside once it clears up and check to see if there's a bad ground causing the problem, since it stopped working when I installed the new transmission shift cable bushing. I am really getting an education from working on this vehicle.......

@@bang4buck808 My 2009 doesn't use a horn relay as far as I can tell. I'm going to retrofit a relay as shown in this awesome video. Too much Daimler Benz dna in these Jeeps...
