Oof, so annoying! I live in a small town where it can take weeks to get your car serviced, and I was having this issue. My car was fine to drive, it breaked, but that sound. It took me about 10 tries but I finally got the paper clip just right and that was it, sound gone! I'm sure you're not dealing with it anymore, but for anyone else, don't give up on the paper clip!

Hi I had the same problem and it was a bad abs pump at 250k miles replaced it now with a used one but I like your method of using engine brakes to help slow it down. I hear it will eventually fail completely and I believe that has happened with me, it just makes your braking system akin to that of a car made in the 1960's gotta drive it more way more carefully.

is your used abs pump still working fine after a couple years? im thinking about doing the same because im certain my 2005 prius has the same issue at the same exact mileage...

  • @varcade8

The codes come on often after any kimd of brake work, but if they can't be reset or come back on soon after, there's a leak in the brake pump actuator.

Yes, try this first. Jack up the driverside front and attach a hose to a coke bottle or bigger. Open the brake fluid reservoir and make sure you keep that full while bleeding the air out. I would get a Qt. bottle of fluid. Should only take a few minutes. You can do it manually on the 2nd gen prius. Do not start car, just put some pressure on brake pedal. You should hear brake actuator pump working after turning the bleeder screw.

The high pitched sound may go off after you bleed the driver side brakes. Follow Mr. Electric for prius procedure. Ive done this several times over 180,000 miles and did not need an accuator pump.

  • @armandofretto9917

To turn those lights off place the paper clip on TC -13 top and CG- 4 like you did in the video then turn the switch ON ( READY) then you shut it off and back on to confirm that the lights turn off. About your hybrid battery : it is weak you must check each module and the way to do it is putting a load on each module : take a head lamp of s car and use wire with alligator clip at the end hook it to the module alone with a volt meter make a chart on a piece of paper and write voltage from 7.5-to 7.2 to 7,0 and time the amount of time that it takes to discharge to each voltage. The most important is how long it takes to discharge from 7.2-to 7.0 it should takes from 10- to 20 minutes to be consider good other wise discard that module that is below those minutes

This is old but it likely is the ABS pump unit failed and you must replace or rebuild it, according to UA-cam videos... I removed the little speaker making horrible noise, then changed the ABS unit. I will later today bleed the brakes with the bleeding kit as it is stuck in limp mode and won’t go anywheres. I ordered the obdii tool for Toyota brake bleeding and more but then find a video shows how to do it without code reader.
    Nice.

Same thing on my 2005. I did the paper clip method and it worked for about 10 mins. It's the ABS module, actuator. No way around it unfortunately. There's a vid on UA-cam showing how to disengage the ABS but you have to do it every time you restart the car. I'm going to buy a used module, should be under $1000 parts and labor.
