- Guthrie Govan - Wonderful Slippery Thing Live.
Pistoia Blues Festival July 3, 2009.
Great Performance.
Gutrie Govan - "Sevens": • Guthrie Govan - Sevens...
He's not only one of the greatest guitarists in the world today, but he's also in "The Big Book of British Smiles."
0:42 that dude with the "woohoo" right into the beat... that made my day HAHA! very fitting with the setting of the sound
Guthrie is king. Seriously, he's the best player I've ever seen or heard, and a really nice guy to boot!
"Life is good... and I am GOD!"
Just one word... clean!! wow. The guy is insanely talented. A master.
There are a ton of greats and heros out there. Lukather is a wonderful guitarist, not taking anything away from him but Guthrie motivates me to practice in a way that no guitarist ever has. Technique, tone, and creative without being musical. Unbelievable is the only word I can come up with when describing Govan
I really love this song!
Wow best quality guthrie video i have seen! Thanks for uploading!
Its his love for music that makes him so good!
he never plays the jazzy part at the beggining live... it is so sweet he should always play that part!
1:31 LOL Italians making Mario noises...
Thanks so much for this post, great quality mate. Looking forward to seeing more songs from the set!
Thumbs up to the bassist, Seth Govan !!👍👍👍
I love how he waggles his eyebrows when his guitar says something cheeky
woooooooooooooow! AMAZING !
Guthrie is one of the best out there , anyone who can nail down the styles and techniques of so many guitarists is amazing.
He`s the imagination of vai the passion of yngwie and the speed and quick wit of gilbert/
The description failed to mention he was on stage with the Dave Kilminster! I love both those guys!
This guy can play!!!Really good, love it!!
@jrpimpdog Derek is one of Guthrie's favourite slide influences- they are both well renowned for their slide playing
best version of the song
I love how at the end it takes the camera a second to be like "wait, all that craziness isn't coming out of Guthrie's guitar?" as it pans over to the other guitarist.
O melhor de todos!!!!
So cool seeing Dave Kilminster tearing it up with Guthrie!!
yes, life's indeed good when you'r guthrie govan
Wow! Great quality :)
Sempre il migliore.
Always the best!
Amazing tone and style. This guy knows what he's doing! I love how everyone starts cheering when he hits the Maj. 6 at 1:08
Dominant 9*
For me this is the best freacking version!!!
Life must be good if you can play like Guthrie. YEEEsh
great tone and crazy feel!!!!
That distorted tone is just like FUCKING AMAZING!!!
Ya es el mejor guitarrista de la escena.
increible que este chavon no sea conocido en todo el mundo todavia.
I was there!!! amazing
I WAS HERE!!!
that right hand struck at 0:22 is just amazing
i agree. who gave him thumbs up?
nice guthrie,,, you are the best.....!!! lupeeeeettt!!!!
I really think he looks great....great soul pours from him ...and the mic cable points out how emerald green his eyes are..........besides the arrangement this time is so flawless.......really, really good. Thank God I found him for an influence.
1:30 missed a note bro..
LOL dude is unreal
17 people were dentists
dentists HAHAHAHAHAHA LMAO im dying
And being an Englishman Guthrie needed all of them
@tastytasters Thank you!
1:51 such delightfull phrasing...how is it possible
He's not there for looks anyways dude...His Hair!! AHHH...But he's a better improviser soloist musician than anyone that ever existed on any instrument. Nobody knows the things he does but they're just amazing.
That's one wicked modern sounding wah!
awesome!
God bless this man!
@jrpimpdog yes i think it does in the way they use a REALLY overdriven sound but play with their volume pans so it sounds clean when needed...
This guy should be the next worlds sexiest man
this is the best thing since sliced bread
this dude played so much guitar he had no time to brush his teeth. Theres always an explenation
C'est vraiment enorme !
Govan For Life!!!
AWWWWWWWWW YEAH
WTF !! Where is the rest of the video? I just hate it when we finnaly get great quaility audio & video of GG and then it just cuts off before the finish. I konw that I should be grateful for at least having this much. Thanks DeanGrace.
I really love that guitar hes got tho
Sometimes the stuff he plays is just plain out amazing, ... sometimes it's like WTF!.... my brain can't cope. :(
@JeevesMorris1 This is very true about Vai. I applaud this analysis.
@Varithgar I hate it when people just go "exactly", but... Exactly.
I like how he went a little wilder than usual after the first big tapping lick... presumably in response to missing a couple of the taps? who knows. I love guthrie.
gods do bleed, i heard guthrie govan miss a note. and he's still a trillion times better than me.
@jrpimpdog YES, he does. Some of his bend notes have that "60´s-female-gospel-singer" thing going on, same feel that Derek does, except Derek uses a slide.
very very very good++++++++++++
grande!!
1:31 - the only time guthrie has ever messed up anything.... AND ITS ON CAMERA
AMEN!!
@jrpimpdog not here, but the man himself has clearly stated in interviews that he admires the guy
ohhh theeeeeeet
God Damn it where's the rest? You Big Tease! I was really into it too
"Life is good".
very nice.
Not a bad guy to have on rythym ;) 2 of England finest right there!
@jrpimpdog guthrie loves derek trucks. i heard him say in an interview something along the lines of. " i discoverd derek trucks reciently where has he been all my life"
@MrFelixRiley When Guthrie misses a note, it's called creative timing.
i want that suhr guitar. my teacher has a blue maple top one, so badass
ah i liked that jazzy solo of the studio version.
he definately does. His phrasing sounds alot like him. Listen to a recording where Guthrie plays slide... it's apparent that he listens to Derek or at least has some common influences.
That was awesome quality video and sound. What kind of camera were you using?
Oh My God!!
Life is good
woohuooaah
yes is he!!
@KonkreteXXX No I haven't seen him live, but I do own three of his DVD's being the Astoria one, the G3 with Malmsteen and his visual sound theories one. Yes, I do play guitar myself and an avid celebrator of guitar talents, Vai included. Kindly re-read my post since skipping over a few words can change meanings of entire sentences drastically. I honestly can't see how my post degraded mr Vai in any way whatsoever. If anything, it justifies what some might perceive to be his "sloppy" playing.
@jrpimpdog I think he can when he wants to - But I only hear it in a few places. When he plays slide, he reminds me of Derek. This is what I think is to amazing about him - he can play almost any style, and still sound very natural.
fucking awesome!!!
@dreamtheater858 I think the progression is Bm7, D9, Gmaj7, F#7. Then I guess he's improvising lots of little octaves/substitutions and funk chords over it here. Hope that helps!
@PiggySmallz24 they have played together! should be right here on the tube...
@MetalForceTristan That's a good question my friend.
pimpdog, ya he does with the tasty slides. i feel ya
fucking GOOD quality
1:29 that's coolest lick probably ever
That's one wicked sounding envelope filter ;) !
Life is good :)
@zajac1661 Technical elements i look for are phrasing, bending, vibrato, speed, touch and groove. By no means do I think Guthrie is a slouch in any of these, he is one of the worlds finest. But I think people like Shawn lane, Scotty Anderson and Bireli Lagrene are more advanced in some of the areas I mentioned.
0:13 - 0:53 sweet glorious music
@SearchPL Haha, I believe you. But it does look like a schecter, I just saw the S on the headstock and put 2 and 2 together. Haven't really done my research on Guthrie, just love his music
Thanks RDG. I look forward to seeing the Sevens video. That must have been a great show. Did he do Uncle Skunk ? That's my favorite. If you have that one too can you post it. Thanks man.
@TheNosnawS I think, yeah!.. It sounds like an evelope filter effect which funk bassists use a lot.
@kikocastroneto lol I saw it .... but it doesnt matter. He is the perfect musician. I will call that creative timing.
@jrpimpdog the man himself
Awesome Warwick bass.
