Oh how I feel the same way. I don't feel the conviction any more. I feel like my heart is like a big stone and feelings are numb. I don't want to have a seared conscience or a reprobate mind. I want to be more like Jesus. But I feel just like Paul. I do what I'm not suppose to do and don't do what I'm suppose to. I feel so deafeted. I pray but it feels like it's falling on deaf ears. I would say brother's and sisters please pray for me. But I been doubting my salvation due to how I been feeling and with the numbing and stony heart. So I'm thinking it was a false conversion. I need lots of prayers for what I’m going through. My heart does not feel conviction or fear of god and I want to feel conviction but my heart physically feels like stone. I’ve even cried several times and prayed asked for forgiveness but I still feel no conviction or godly sorrow in my heart. I know that sounds confusing since I just said I cried several times but I don’t feel it like I was. Please pray for me and help me if you can! Thanks and God bless
I have been struggling with this too and (speaking for myself anyway) I can say with absolute confidence that it has a HUGE amount to do with what you give your time and attention to. The first commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and strength. If I watch UA-cam videos on worldly topics and listen to worldly music and take part in worldly activities, I start to lose my connection with God. We are commanded to come out of the world or you will become a slave to it. You cannot serve 2 masters. For me I have a shopping problem. The more I give in to it and find my joy in these things, the further I drift from God. In the end you will need to humble yourself and COMPLETELY surrender your will. There are no half measures in this. God does not accept half heartedness. This may mean a period of fasting to break off old habits, reconnect deeply with the Lord and he will produce the fruit of self control. Even if your heart is not playing ball, you will have to override it with your will. Later the feelings will come as the Lord sees that you are truly committed He will soften your heart. I’m going through the exact same thing. And I deleted instagram and Snapchat at one point but everything got worst I felt depressed because I had literally isolated myself from everybody. It’s hard to commit to no social media when I can’t hear the Lord speak back to me anymore. I just wish I could go back to being fruitful, sinning is my biggest mistake.

The question being asked is a concrete question. It's a practical question. John's answer is more poetic than analytic. We, in Christ, can come to know what hardens and softens one's heart. Anything that someone does/says to you OR that you do/say to someone else that has the potential to erode trust in relationship. This erosion of trust is the fertile soil necessary to begin adding layers of skin over the heart like a callous. Brene' Brown has an excellent UA-cam video titled "anatomy of trust". It's extremely revealing and practical. If you understand her discussion you will begin to see more clearly how one's heart is "hardened" especially when her words are correlated to Scripture.

Pray for forgiveness, ask Father God to to soften your heart. Trust- have faith that he will do what you ask. Thank Him for it. Read his word- The Bible. So our hearts will remain hard unless God decides to soften them. Then we will "help" in that process. So according to Piper there are individuals that God decides never to soften thier hearts. I always thought that those promises were only promises about the way of salvation through our Saviour Lord Jesus Christ, but does it also apply to a person who is born again and got themselves in the situation that their heart got hardened? And what is distinction between God the Father hardening our hearts (after being born again, if there even is any) and ourselves hardening our hearts by deceitfulness of sin or anything else? Pour your heart out to Jesus Christ and tell him what’s on your mind and heart and ask him to soften your heart and to shine his light into your heart. I was one of the worst ppl a few years ago... a hardcore drug and porn addict, a fornicator and adulterer and a thief and a liar, only living for pleasure and chasing my own lusts and desires. But Christ is so merciful and he is faithful and brought me back to him. He can do it for you too. Trust that he will finish the good work he started in you. If you can still hear his voice don’t harden your heart to his message. The fact that you are even asking this question is a good sign because I don’t think ppl who have a hardened heart even think or worry about this. I hope this encourages you. God bless!
If God can create the whole world and cares about us so deeply to know how many hairs are on our heads, he definitely can soften our hearts. It can be hard to believe sometimes though, especially considering everything IN our hearts. What obstacle(s) are you facing with this idea? I'd love to chat with you about this :)

I got really scared as people started to say that Jesus was coming back.So I decided to change.Then there was something more better about God.He’s love and peacefulness.Today I’m still Trying to follow him and build a relationship with God.And I’m struggling with sin and it’s dragging me farther and farther away from the lord.I would love to hear some tips from u to :) if u can’t that’s alright:)

Very true my brother! We need the grace of God in abundance to overcome the hardening of the 💓 which is the work of the flesh!
We all need to work decisively and urgently by grace of God to deal with all manner of bitterness which is one of the sons of a hardened heart.

If you're worried about it, pray to God in faith through Jesus Christ. See Christ's mercy in Hebrews 6 and the prodigal son story. He's got you!
