I look forward to seeing your videos you're very inspiring and make you think out of the box I am saving for my refrigerator so hopefully sooner or later you have a wonderful day and may God bless
This is fantastic. Great idea packing all together. I am like so many others who have said, I like that you show making it, freeze dry, packing and reconstituting. I like that you show when it isn't perfect and then you say what you would do next time. Great channel.
I appreciate how you take us through the process of cooking, freeze drying, and reconstituting these different foods. I have a medium freeze dryer and have had several "fails" which can get expensive. Your ideas are helping me get back some inspiration. And I like that you are freeze drying meals that I can afford (and that look delicious). Thanks for sharing the links and other websites too.
I have one of the first freeze dryers and I had fails - do not throw out the food, you can freeze or refrigerate it and then do it again. Or, in some cases, my dog gets some treats.
Love these meals in a Mylar videos. Already have the spaghetti and Chicken Tikki Marsala already dried and packaged. Next is the scalloped potatoes. Thank you for your videos!
Hi John. I just finished watching your potato salad video and I see you got 2, one gallon bags out of the 4 trays. How many individual portions did you get out of the two big bags. The portion you put on the tray was a decent portion. Thanks for the video!
To be honest I don't remember, but for this video I did 1/2 recipe of that video. I got 8 large portions (almost too large) from 2 trays or half of that other video.
@@JohnInBibs Ok, thanks for the reply. I think I'm going to try 5 portions per tray instead of 4 and I think that would be a perfect portion for a side dish. By the way I take a black Sharpie marker and I make little marks on the sides of the trays dividing it up in 4 portions per tray. I also have marks to divide up 5 portions per tray. Then when the food is almost frozen I take a metal spatula and I make slices in the food for either 4 or 5 portions. Then when it's done freeze drying, the individual portions will all be the same size and will separate from each other on their own because they will shrink a little. Then I take the same metal spatula and scoop up each pre-cut portion and just dump it in its own bag. It works pretty slick.
I made these a few weeks ago from one of your vids. I have Pot pie, spaghetti in my machine right now. I think i’ll make more sloppy joes and make some pudding to go in my next load 😊. Im loving this machine!
Thanks for watching! I used powdered Lipton iced tea. I have a video where I show making the accessory pack. but really I just put enough tea powder in a mylar bag. No O2 absorber or anything. It is mostly sugar so once vacuum sealed in the accessory pack I think it will last a very long time
@@JohnInBibs awesome, think when mine gets delivered I will try and brew up some actual sweet tea and throw it in the freeze dryer be curious as to how it would turn out.
I really love your show because you are so thorough. I am always anxiously awaiting the next one. I have learned a lot from you. All freeze dryers should be followed you. Have a question? Have you tried freeze drying just Velveeta?
First off let me say thank you for the kind words. You have no idea how much they mean. I did try it once and wasn't real happy with the results. It came out hard with big air bubbles in it. It could have been a process that I did wrong but I never tried again. Velveeta with Rotel came out perfect/perhaps because of the added moisture.
What do you do to pack the pilot bread? Do you run it through the freeze dryer? Is your potato salad homemade? And did you only use one OA in the main bag or each individual bag? Thanks.
Okay I had to see how you did your potato salad cuz I guess I missed that one without using minutes I don't like potato salad because I don't like mayonnaise I cannot wait to try out that potato salad recipe it sounds delicious cream cheese with no mayonnaise I think I may actually like that thank you for the idea love you r show
Thanks John. Love your videos. God Bless
Thanks for watching!

I am glad you left the blooper of the meat falling out of the bag we are all human. Happy sunday

Sounds great, I am truly amazed at how well pudding reconstitutes.
You can get the peppers and onions at the dollar store!....for you guessed it one dollar!!
Thanks I checked there first and they didn't have any in stock
How did you do the sweet tea was that freeze dried or a pre-mix? Just stumbled across your channel found the video very interesting subbed and liked.

John - Can you please add a link to the scale that you use? I would like for you to get credit when I buy it.

Thanks for watching. I did not run the Pilot Bread thru the FD, the rest of the questions are pretty much covered in the video.
@@JohnInBibs ok. I’ll rewatch. More carefully this time.
Sorry. I couldn't remember exactly how I did it. I would have to watch it again
" If you work it , You can get it in there " That what SHE Said .....
Can you not reuse the mylar bags?

Oh my word. In a real *S*H*T*F* situation, you are going to be ok and you are going to be feeling better too! Thanks for sharing this. ❤️ ~~ Sharon
So you freeze dried the meat and potato salad together, I’m wondering if the potato salad tasted like sloppy joe, I’ve been having flavors bleed some.
I pre freeze my items before loading the FD, I have never had flavor bleed this way, I have had in the past when I load un frozen food in the FD.
You could put the straw in the top and zip the top up to it on both sides. Wonderful meal and idea..Thanks!!
