  • EDIT: There was music claim, so that section of the video had to be replaced, and is a little loud and choppy. Sorry!
In this video I’ll be showing you how to replace the intake manifold on a Ford Y Block. I used Fel-Pro gaskets and was able to complete the swap in about a day.
The car I am working on is a 1954 Ford Customline, and has a 239. This process can also be used for 272, 292, and 312 engines.
Please subscribe and like the video! Thanks for watching!

I appreciate when people care enough to go against the trends and build an original era correct engine, and era correct speed equipment is pretty cool too.

Great to see other guys posting vids of Y Block work - not much out there n UA-cam, keep it up! The 239 was actually in the 55 F100 although it was the EBV variant. Gotta love those little Holley 94’s - easy to work on and tune. The throttle shaft bores like to get a little wobbly but it’s all good. They look good on a 3 deuce setup too.

Good stuff man. Oddly enough I have a 239 in my 55, but it's an F500 (yellow block). In the cars they only used it for that one year, but they tossed all the leftovers in the trucks. I was really hoping it wasn't a 239, but it was free, so it was worth it.

The trucks used it in 55 as well, but I think the heads were a little different.

Be very gentle with the torque on those front bolts. If you used a thread chaser on the holes, and well cleaned bolts, use a dab of sealer on the threads and keep the torque down to 20 or less. The broken parts can be brazed back on, or welded. The front bolt on the exhaust likes to break easily too.

Do you know if the intake manifold on a 61 292 is single or dual plane.

All factory intakes from 54-64 are dual plane. All older after market and the 2 new currently being made are dual plane also.
