Who am I?
Expert singing teacher, specialising in teaching children and young adults in singing and musical theatre. She has worked with the likes of The Saturdays for MTV, on shows such as Just the Two of Us for the BBC and many more. Throughout her years of teaching she has judged in many competitions, judging Lucy Spraggan, George Samson, amongst others who have gone onto succeed in the business.
I am the founder of Vocaltutor, (founded 2003) the UK’s largest vocal and singing tuition network and now The New Foundry Studios which opened in 2013.
I have worked with BBCTV on Just the Two of Us, with many celebrities including Natasha Hamilton of Atomic Kitten, plus has worked for ITV on many children’s TV programmes including The Worst Witch, as their vocal coach.

Maybe a contender for a Eurovision entry...well, not this song exactly, but another song from Steps, considering their new album will be coming out rather soon. We know they can perform live and it could be a pretty good move with a song of the same calibre.

so, i just need to be honest. as the vocal coach is. H has two songs on step one....his vocals primarily. Then he always follows Claire in about 75% of their songs..... it is nice to hear LEE more!

I don't know about Claire and having nerves, when she said it been a long time... Claire was doing Clair-ara-oke All through lockdown so she's been performing steadily so her voice is definitely tuned... I really blame everything that went wrong on the one show honestly like you said she, they are notorious for having sound issues and I have to agree
I did think the performance was a bit dry vocally. The sound was off. It's definitely down to BBC and not them. The One Show is notoriously awful with bad sound and staging issues.
Bad audio mixing and levels have been SIGNATURE of Steps' live performances since they've moved to singing live. It's like they specifically hire the worst audio technician every time. Still good to see them committed to singing live most of the time, and maturing from their miming days.
I think that can also be put down to the fact that the shows on the promo circuit these days (which basically boils down to This Morning and The One Show) are notoriously bad for sound. It's not specifically a Steps problem. Their performances on Live at the London Palladium and Strictly Come Dancing had much better mixing.
@@MatgoStyles yeah agreed. In their concerts its so much better. I think they sound best on strictly when the mixing is so much better
This was so frustrating to watch. What’s with the editing? Why not let it play the whole way though, we literally hear about 2 seconds at a time of the performance. Very odd.

i do feel that too many song are Clair heavy. when the rest can sing too.

You’ve missed the mark with this video. You’re meant to be commenting on vocals not dance routines etc, outfits etc..That is not your area of expertise.
Performance, Martin. These are all ingredients of overall performance. Of course these things are worth mentioning.
Honestly, your critiques could have been fair and on point, but the editing was not great. 1-2 seconds of the song before your thoughts is not enough for viewers, I have to go watch it myself now. We didn’t see what you were in about
