  • This video covers the world quests released in Genshin Impact version 3.4: The Dirge of Bilqis and Apocalypse Lost as well as a very brief recap of the Golden Slumber. It also includes a chronological summary of all of the events surrounding the rise and fall of Gurabad - something that was alluded to within these quests, but in a non-sequential hard-to-follow way.

Tirzad is the true racist. Liloupar did say really shi**y things throughout the quest buts that's because of her history with the people of the desert (although to be honest it still doesn't justify anything)

Racism is racism. But It's really impresive writing becouse for all the shit Liloupar says you can tell she cares for Jeth as she guides, her, conforts her and tries to protect her from Babel's lies. So in that regard Liloupar story is not justifying her racism but showing her overcome it through genuine interactions with the people she disrespected, specialy as the weight of her crimes start to finally crush her. Becouse in her atempt to punish her husband for not ending slavery, she herself enslaved her own kind and grandchildren. It's a really messed up story, and so it's good that the protagonists are also messed up. A cruel regicide that killed her familly? Of course she can be horrible racist, which makes it more meaningfull when she starts to care for the one she looks down on. A sweet girl who is desperately trying to find a new home after lossing everything she loved? Of course she is going to be easyly manipulated by a cruel manipulative witch and of course she is going to go full Uchiha on their asses when she finaly understands she was being used! I love this story quest is the best one so far besides sumeru's archon quest.

It's funny, I was re-watching the Golden Slumber being played on Twitch and...the reason Tirzad hates the Eremites is his sister, a researcher, ran off with one. The thing is the story of how his sister ran off with one and the story of Jebrael and Jeht's mother is...remarkably similar. Tirzad may very well be Jeht's uncle, Jeht may very well have family who would accept her...and they'll never know because Jebrael never said anything.

And remember at the end of the Golden Slumber quest, Tirzad feels guilty and wants to help Jeht, anything that she wants?
At first, I feels like Tirzad just felt bad to Jeht. But now, I think Tirzad felt some platonic connection due to what they experience and by their bloodline.
This only makes me even sadder. What if Jeht and Tirzad finally help each other and become family? Both lost someone that's important to them (Jeht with Jebrael, her mother, and her clan. Tirzad with his sister who might be the same person as Jeht's mother)

Liloupar was so damn interesting. I love unapologetically smug yet batshit crazy non-mortal beings. I think they represented that mystical being(?) aspect in her dialogue very well, especially considering her greatest exploits had already passed. At the same time, she had shades of gray and the way they played with that with her attachment to the Traveler, her conversation with her sister, her hurt, her love for her old mistress, and her interactions with Jeht, going from "slave girl" to "she's a good kid," was fascinating.

    • @Adser261
      @Adser261 Рік тому +26

Liloupar is amazing and I am really sad that she was not the antagonist of the quest, she would have been far better than the bargain bin version we got in Babel.
We know from the start that Liloupar is an ass, but that does not prepare us for learning that she is a mass murderer who used her children as tools to take vengeance on a long dead man. Her ending can be resumed to "I know I am going to hell for what I have done and I will walk down there singing in JOY because it was worth it".
To have to face someone who is that obsessed about something that there is no price they wont pay, no length they won't go, is terrifying. Can you imagine if Liloupar thought her revenge still wasn't done and she had been plotting during the quest how to kill the Tanith, damn the consequences? That would have been amazing.
But no, we get Babel. Who is just as obsessed, this time about power, but lacks the skill, intelligence or self-awareness to get anything done. What did Babel do? She attempted to get the Traveler murdered, and when that failed she just said they were traitors and then she tried again until she literally ran out of people to use in her attempts, all the while insisting that she was doing it for the good of the Tanith, instead of admitting that she just wanted the power.

I find it interesting that Liloupar refers to the Traveler as a prince/princess in exile, and you have the option to deny it, or admit to being one but refusing to elavorate. Most of the time this dialoge options don't contradict each other, but are rather just different ways of saying the same thing, so maybe the Traveler is some form of royalty in exile. I know the abyss twin is usually referred to as prince or princess by the Abyss order, but to my knowledge this is the first time the Traveler is, which begs the question of what the twins were in their original world, why they left it, and whether the Abyss knows anything about it and uses the title because of it, or they just happend to bestow the same title to the Abyss twin that they had back in their original world.

Babel for sure has something to do with the tower of Babel from the old testament. All people spoke the same language, lived in harmony and peace. But when they started building a city and a tower to reach heaven, Yahwe saw it as blasphemy and scattered all the people around the globe and shattered their language.
Personally, I always associated Khaenriah's war against the second throne to be very, very similar with the Tower of Babel, reminding me of the structrues in the log in screen. A city above the clouds, unfinished. All of Teyvat speaking the same language and so on.
Maybe some food for thought. Here's something straight up from the Tower of Babel wiki page if it interests you since it quite literally quotes the place that is the name sake of Sumeru and the location inspiration. :D
"Some modern scholars have associated the Tower of Babel with known structures, notably the Etemenanki, a ziggurat dedicated to the Mesopotamian god Marduk in Babylon. A Sumerian story with some similar elements is told in Enmerkar and the Lord of Aratta."

This color (and similar colors, such as pink) is frequently seen in the color palettes of Electro characters, notably Beidou, Kujou Sara, Yae Miko, Kuki Shinobu, and Dori. These characters also have a consistent emotional property to their personality and the reason why they have Visions. Additionally, the one character associated with Jinn (Dori) is themselves Electro, as is their Jinn.

Jeht is one of my favorite (non-playable) NPCs in Sumeru, just under Dunyarzad, and her character model is prob my fav of all the Eremite enemies. The Floral-ring Dancers & the Scorching Lore Masters are beautiful too, but there's something about the Desert Clearwaters that I love, whenever I stumble upon one dancing in the wild, I have to sit and watch for a while.

@Ashikai I've been thinking about the idea that after all of these calamities, Irminsul seems to be a timeline, and Istaroth is a gardener of sorts. As the god of Time, she can "prune" history. It seems That whenever there is a calamity, there's no record of aftermath, just nothing, and then years later the records start picking back up. It seems as though she wants humanity to advance the way she feels it needs to, but wants it to do so of its own volition. Kind of like teaching a dog a trick, it has to do it on its own. I would theorize that it was Istaroth who summon Rukkhadevata to purge Irminsul of the pollution of forbidden knowledge.
I know and love you theory on the Goddess of Flowers being Istaroth, and I think that these two theories still fit together, As far as we know, the Goddess of Flowers is not currently in the Eternal Oasis.

She has the perfect reason to plot a revenge on Deshret as he was not loyal to primordial one. Now I think Istaroth is not the kind goddess anymore and why Venti doesn't even talk about her.

Personally despite everything, I think Goddess of flowers is not exactly Istaroth cause I don't think Istaroth dead yet(since Ei story quest require her power for the Thunder sakura to actually bloom in the past) while goddess of flower is pretty much confirmed dead.
My tinfoil theory is that the goddess of flower is trying to get revenge against the divine that exile her from heaven by kickstarting an Apocalypse by using Deshret overflowing love towards her. As we can see, it mostly works except she didn't take account that Rukkhadevata wouldn't turn out like Deshret cause unlike Deshret who is emotional, Rukkhadevata was pragmatic. Rukkhadevata was there to stop Deshret madness from escalate too much which resulted in the World still intact. Though if goddess of flower actually taken account of Rukkhadevata personality, she might be planning to corrupt the irminsul all along since destruction of Irminsul equal destruction of world.
      Summary of my points
-Goddess of flowers is not Istaroth cause Istaroth presumably alive while goddess of flower is dead
-My theory is the goddess of flowers planned her death to either make Deshret unknowingly destroy the world while trying to revive her or to corrupt irminsul through Deshret actions or both.

I think the part where they explain that the Oasis was stopped in time by using the Celestial Nails it makes a lot of sence after seeing all the other places that were struck by them, Dragonspine was literally frozen in a perpetual winter that affects the living beings, we could also think that because of the Nail , Durin's Heart is still beating, giving the idea that the Nail has multiple properties that would alter reality. The second was found at the depths of The Chasm and we can see its effects altering reality in the upside down castle and during that short event where they were trapped in an infinite space that had a time alteration. We should make notice that all the points where there is a Nail landing are starting to make a curve line towards the current position of Celestia.

Something that stood out to me in this video as someone who has not played the quest (yeah I know, but I only started actually playing the game a couple of weeks ago and I can't resist an Ashikai video), is Ormazd's name. Continuing in the tradition of naming Genshin characters after irl gods, Ormazd is clearly named after Ahura Mazda, the creator deity of Zoroastrianism. One of his other names is even Ohrmazd. Do you intend to talk about the symbolism in this name at any point? From my very limited understanding, Zoroastrianism is quite a similar religion to Gnosticism, and we all know how important Gnosticism is to this game.

Not related to this video, but a thought I had recently. Zhognli sees the traveler as some sort of record keeper, and this view is shared by a few others in the game. Because the Oasis is a programme paused in time by use of a Celestial Nail, it's reasonable that the Oasis is outside of Irminsul's sight. Celestia is running Teyvat as a fake world (a literal artificial world within the true world). Since Irmisul is the programme's route directory, the way Celestia runs, pauses or deletes data from Teyvat, it makes sense the Oasis is built (or paused) outside of the Teyvat programme.
    I hope that made sense?
Very few people follow the 'Teyvat is a fake world' theory. But so far, everything fits.
Just imagine Celestia is the programmer or coder. Irminsul the directory and programme itself, and everything Irminsul touches is part of that programme.
Abyss corruption and forbidden knowledge is incompatible data seeping in from the original world.
This is why Lumine is not a descender. She was part of the true REAL Teyvat before its most recent rewrite.
Traveller awoke as an outsider, invading the programme. He is a descender.
The stars in the sky are data notes, fruit of Irminsul, containing the coding for a person's constellation. One fell from the sky and infected the residents with the desire to scale a mountain top (limited time event nearly 3 yrs ago).
Most concepts and stories fit into this theory. Try it out for size!
The question of where is the true world...? I think it's like the movie Patema Iverted (great animation). We have to go INSIDE, deep into Teyvat to find the truth (the litrral upside down truth!).

Using Celestial Nails to freeze time makes sense. If Teyvat as it currently is, is a fake world, built inside the real world, then Celestia's powers to rebuild and reshape both time and matter makes perfect sense. Not only does Celestia run all the code for her Teyvat, she can pause programmes from running, or delete them entirely (changing the data inside the great tree).
Ofc this doesnt stop forbidden data seeping into her programme and messing up its inhabitants, but she often swiftly rectifies this. Or Traveller does. Much to Lumine's annoyance. But since Lumine has travelled this world once before and discovered its truth, inserting herself into its story before its last rewrite. So, it's only a matter of time before Traveller does the same.

Another interesting note considering the King Solomon-King Deshret connection: The opening quest for the new storyline is called "Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn out her seven pillars", which is taken from Proverbs 9:1; a verse in a book of the Bible that was written by King Solomon. As soon as I saw the quest title I was like "wait I know that verse!" xD

    • @Saya-ng1sl
      @Saya-ng1sl Рік тому +1

That should refer to the goddess of flowers. History time: The Queen of Sheba was known as a beautiful and wise desert queen who tested King Solomon with riddles along with controlling the Jinn. In some accounts it was said that the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon were lovers. And since King Deshret is pretty much Genshin’s interpretation of King Solomon it would only be fair if the Queen of Sheba was the basis for the Goddess of Flowers

Man, Jeht's story is really sad, why cant we take her with us, or send her to Aru village :( I dont think we will be killing her, I think her story will continue but the direction of it can be both tragic and more happy. She is free and reclaimed her name, wont be used anymore and knows now what home should be. On the other hand she will be hated and hunted with only the traveler as her friend and we cant behave like a person and support her because this is a life service gacha... but yea, now hopefully she goes off into a brighter future and become traveler herself, not go into the desert alone... She seriously deserves a happy ending, Babel seriously messed with her head and this was allowed in the first place because we didnt care enough to stop her and provide support the first time she was distraught over loss and her life changed, we seriously should have learned our lesson, hope it wont lead to anything bad down the road...
as for Liloupar, cant really judge her for something so far in the past we have so little knowledge about, she could be perceived as a monster for sure, but she could also be simply seen as a member of another species that give and take in equal measures, just far more extreme than ours, her love was unconditional and so was her hatred, it reminds me of characters like Rhea from Three Houses, or the dragon race in FF XIV where pain and suffering of loss is a far longer and further reaching than we can imagine or understand because their lifes are essentially never ending and time glows differently, losing family or loved ones, feeling the pain of hundred years past as if it happened yesterday, being left all alone for eternity, something similar happened to her, it doesnt excuse her actions just explains it I guess.

ASHIKAIIIII if visions are overseen by the gods and therefore they purify elemental energy does that explain why delusion are harmful after using them because they are “not celestia made/aproved” and therefore are unable to purify elemental energy. it’s just something that adds on your theory about visions. Secondly the traveler and lumine s armours are like a vision that they wear kinda to channel power and purify power of any kind elemental energy or the “light element” and possibly abyssal power but this is just speculation over speculation but it’s grounded in the fact they have the ability to purify corruption and stuff like that and effectively use elements without getting harmed.
