I've been watching some other knife forging channels when YT suggested this video. My initial thought: the process is so raw - a lot of things made by hand or with tools of more generic purpose. I'm not disappointed. I actually enjoyed your process of knife making more. It more skill-based than machine-based. And the knife turned out really nice. :)
I'm 72yrs old and have worked much like this man for all of my life and still do. I never use gloves or eye protection (except when welding). I have perfect finger and eye and hearing health (for a 72yr old). You guys have been sold on excessive safety. Yes, idiots should wear eye, ear, head, arm, leg, foot and torso kevlar, at all times but a little common sense will carry you a long way. I talked to a kid on the internet who thought you had to call the fire department before striking a match.
Also if you noticed he put the collar on the grinder finger tight. I've had cutting discs come slightly loose and explode. Thank God I wear a face shield when I'm cutting. It's never fun when they explode.
How can you add to content that has it all. danger, artistry and humour. Taking knife making back to the stone age and beyond. Can't wait for next episode... Barney rubbles bread knife?
Good God what kind of forge hammer is that thing! You could drive bridge piling with it ;-) Just jealous. BTW why did you leave the spring steel round then weld the clump together? Wouldn't it have been "safer" to pound them flatter with "mr hammer", and not get any pockets in the clump? Very cool experiment though. I use flat "leaf" car springs to make my throwing knives. Don't need an edge but do need to keep a good point, and bend before they would break.
Thank you for pointing that out! Safety is definitely important, and I appreciate the reminder. I’ll make sure to be more consistent with protective gear in future projects. Your concern is noted and valued-thank you for watching! 😊👓🔨
Actually he does and if u had watched any of his other videos u wud know this, just in this video u don't see them because his eyeline is hidden and he Actually has both the glasses darkened and a viser.
The white powder is **borax**, which is used as a flux during the forging process. It helps to: - **Prevent oxidation** by creating a protective layer on the heated metal. - **Clean the surface** of the metal by removing impurities. - **Improve welds**, especially when working with layered materials like Damascus steel. Thanks for asking! 😊🔨
After welding the ends together, he should have dipped the bundle into a saturated solution of Borax to thoroughly coat them instead of relying on just dusting them with it. At least he cleaned the oxidation off of the rods with the cut off wheel!
This is a pretty bad knife and pretty bad workmanship to be uploading and claiming as a radiacal method. This guy knows nothing about forging steel and making blades. It appears that everything he knows is from youtube videos. No one should be watching this for any kind of learning or knowledge.
OK...someone help me here! What changed? The title says EVERYTHING changed. I must have missed it. Also, did I miss the tempering of the blade following the hardening? Or was that process skipped for the sake of the Damascus processing? I'm very confused here.
A damaszkuszi kard készítés .több rétegelt kézi kovacsolas és disznó hugyban való edzése a kard pengenek. A kézi kovacsolas a legfontosabb Még a fém edzése.
I'm sorry, but I'm a little confused. The title of your video says the car springs "changed everything". I fail to see what's changed. Your knife designs are the same uninspired products you turn out every video. You obviously have metalworking skills, but you seem to lack imagination. I suggest that you look online for some established knife makers for inspiration. It's easy to call yourself a "Master Knifesmith" and impress the uninformed. You have the skills, and tools at your disposal. to produce much better products than you are displaying in your videos. I might sound harsh, but believe me I want you to succeed. I have watched your videos for a long time and think you have the potential to do much better than you are doing now. Good luck in the future.
I agree. Tell it like it is. If people don't like it, that's their problem. Saying he has metalworking skills is a bit like saying a city dweller with a few large pot plants is a bonafide agriculturist.

Foi um prazer assistir seu vídeo. Excelente!!!! Brasil!

Can't do that very long and not learn some safety.. or lose an eye.
Ton marteau pilon est très impressionnant. Merci pour cette vidéo
if you don't give borak it doesn't matter if you make Damascus knives...and where do you buy the borak, bro?
Freaks me out ! No eye protection ? No guards on your grinder ? Man , how do you still have eyes and fingers ? Otherwise great work !

No belt grinder? No epoxy? I’m impressed. A very nice knife. I’ve only made 1 knife. This has motivated me. I do wear safety glasses though.

The ol' safety squints.

Highly skilled smith and a great knife. I wish you would wear safety glasses.
Good skills but no safety glasses, no ear muffs, no mask, no gloves and probably no safety boots.
Thank you for pointing that out! Safety is definitely important, and I appreciate the reminder. I’ll make sure to be more consistent with protective gear in future projects. Your concern is noted and valued-thank you for watching! 😊👓🔨
Try putting a blue screen up or filter when using welder.good video apart from that
He doesn’t use safety glasses of any sort so I doubt he’s worried about a blue screen.

You must have a poor technique or your setup is the wrong height if your back hurts. Look into it. Good luck.

Chuck Norris indeed but a terrible example for others as far as safety is concerned. This guy is going to hurt himself badly some time

Agreed. I think he is a candidate for Dunning-Kruger, and also, the people who think he is marvellous are obviously rather hard of thinking.
