It’s so funny what artists hear in their own work. Every single viewer here is floored by your composing, performing and engineering on the fly, never mind the sheer dopeness of the song - ugly noise? 😂
Can't really hear it. But I noticed my guitar is picking up a lot of hum from my keystep. But it's certainly not the first time you're holding your guitar in front of it ;)
@@silvioschmidt5346 Oh interesting! It happens a lot when I'm too close to my laptop, but I never catched anything with the Keystep (maybe because I have the guitar cavity shielded with copper). In this case I believe the noise came later in the signal chain, but anyway now it's done. :)
i wana add to this without sounding like a dick. putting 'sloppy' in the title and adding about the guitar noise may set the expectation low, but i think with the level and quality that you're at, just skip that part. you will appear more professional and it will go a long way for you and the following you will continue to gather. you are legit man you don't need us to tell you, the proof is in the pudding! don't diminish your work!
Pretty sick. Well done dude. Makes me want to look into octatrack and digitakt more. Kinda want them already but performances like these add to the GAS. Although it looks like there's some work needed before the workflow gets on level that's as intuitive as yours. Lovely little song.
the 1:04 recap of the ending of the guitar loop is a touch of genius do you plug the guitar direct into the octatrack or that zoia is there for that reason?
Awesome as usual :) Do you mind giving us some of your thoughts on the Octatrack vs. Ditto for looping? Really curious what you thoughts are about the OT as a loop station - I saw in another comment that you felt like the Ditto was unreliable and had problems. I'm in the midst of deciding on a looping solution for guitar and synths and would love to hear how you arrived at the OT. On an unrelated note, I can't be the only one who sees your videos and thinks that you could probably do some great stuff with videos just talking through your technique, how you're using some of the gear together, etc. I've always really appreciated your long written and/or diagrammed explanations of your setup, but maybe an "aldo gear tour" video would be awesome, that way we can all try (and fail) to replicate your awesome techniques!
Hey, the Ditto is definitely unreliable when used with MIDI sync, at least in my experience. The Octatrack is completely rock solid in this area. It's more flexible too but it can be a bit complicated to set up. Also I just started to experience some click/pop sounds at the end of my loops. After some research it seems like it's a common problem and it could be a dealbreaker on the long run so I don't know... Also a rig rundown video will most likely happen at some point but I'm really not sure when. :)
@@jfenton Hey thanks I'm familiar with that feature but from what I gathered from the Elektronauts forum the pick-up machine do have a click issue (unrelated to the FIN and FOUT settings), it's kinda random but it's there. :/ Hopefully it will be addressed in the upcoming firmware update!
Im wondering how the live sequencing is done, i understand the midi syncing and the like. i have been doing sound design for a year or so now and have recently wanted to do something "similar" to this.
Hey, the Digitakt simply records the notes I play (either with the built-in buttons or with the keyboard) into its sequencer and plays them back at each cycle. They are stored on multiple tracks so I can mute the kick independently from the rest for example. Hope that helps!
Yay new Aldo! Do you use Octatrack as the mixer too, basically? Somehow I never run out of questions to ask you ;D also, to echo others, we don’t hear the imperfections! Sounds so great.
Hey! Yes and no : all the sounds are going into the Octatrack and I had this basic mix in my headphones during the jam, but for the final mix I also used separate sounds from the Digitakt recorded over USB. If that makes sense! :)
Hey thanks, it's from there : www.decathlon.fr/p/maintien-du-poignet-gauche-droite-pour-homme-femme-soft-300-noir/_/R-p-137225 Yeah I use it when I play guitar otherwise my wrist starts to hurt super quickly (because of an old injury).
@@Aldoistaken Merci. I get sore wrists too when playing, that looks helpful! I've been doing aikido wrist stretches for a while and they've helped too. Here's an example of the sorts of stretches ua-cam.com/video/XJVCt2hI-yo/v-deo.html
Whats the ZOIA doing in this? I actually just sold my ZOIA after only having a few weeks. i loved it as a cool device, but couldn't find an actual use for it that I couldn't do better with something else I already have. good for getting weird.
Hey, it's only adding some crunch+vibrato to the guitar as well as some reverb in the last part. And yeah if you already have many effects you like I can see how the ZOIA could be redundant!
Honestly it's a bit hard to compare them, they do different things and are not the same price at all. The Octatrack can definitely do more stuff but the Digitakt sounds better and is overall more fun to play with.
(so there is a super ugly noise on the guitar in some parts of the track, sorry about this
get out of here, I hear no such thing

Not sure if someone's asked you this already, but could you do a video explaining how you connect your gear? Your cable management is brilliant.

Holy shit, this must of been rehearsed so damn much, because this is actually flawless.
Dude this track is awesome! Wish I could afford the gear
Killer skills on those machines... freaks me out!!!!
Pretty awesome seeing someone who knows there gear so damn well, love it as always :)
Another great track. Really enjoy the layers of guitar you bring in.

Hey, yes the guitar goes through the ZOIA first, it helps boosting the level a little bit, I also use it to shape the tone. :)
So gooooood
Thank uuuu!

It's the Empress Effects ZOIA.
how do you mix your kicks like that :o
I'm not entirely sure, I'm still figuring out the mixing part but a nice bump around 40Hz and a bit of sidechain seems to help. :)
