Phone is impressive but it's ridiculous that even in power saving mode the battery drains when you're just listening to music with all background apps closed and the phone is burning your leg.

My concern is how the battery health will be after about a year with the device. My s8+ was great and consistent, though my Note 20 Ultra.. not so much. I would get 6-7 hours SOT for the first few months, then it decreased to 4-5.

Same thing here lol. Initially thought it was because I installed a bunch of apps on my phone but even after a full factory reset it was only averaging 5-ish hrs after a few months of usage.

I have the note 20 ultra & I use it all day I've had sense day one it came out & still in new condition love my phone scared to go to another phone.. I've been looking at fold 4 for awhile now just waitin see what the fold 5 does .. I'm always on my phone emails ..games.. and other apps.. (waiting for hubby's phone to give out so I get another phone 😅) he gets my old ones cause I keep mine in great case always new condition when he gets them.
Thanks for the battery life report. I've been impressed with my Fold 4 battery life so far. That said remember that screen-on time is not an accurate way to rate battery life. I guarantee you that I can get more screen-on time if I set my screen refresh low & dim brightness to low & just display a black image, versus locking refresh to 120hz & full brightness on a bright image.
power saving mode is the true way to make your battery last. Just see how much battery you lose overnight when youre not using the phone with power saving on vs power saving off !

I'm struggling to get 5 hr 50mins of SOT. I have the performance on Light and Wifi and Bluetooth scanning off too.
Watch UA-cam for 6 hours ... you'll be left with 40% battery and have 6 hrs SOT

The battery is not good for even "moderate" users. Heavy users, forget about. Yea..yea, you can tweak all the settings you want to squeeze some life. Is that really what you would expect to have to do with this device🤫

@@mrkring1526 no, but 2 of my friends at work do and they absolutely know what their doing. They also let me use it a bit. It's cool and all, but in my work to be outside and quickly quickly jot down a note on the outside display is crucial also. And yes it's true...durability on this device has improved, but keep you nails trimmed short as even Samsung mentioned. But anyway, back to battery life. Not too good to be honest with you without making MANY and MAJOR adjustments.

However in fairness a test like this on any given Samsung flagship phone will give different results for everyone as the battery depletion is based on so many other factors besides turning power saving mode off, it comes down to how the phone has initially been set up to suit ones own individual needs and personalisation and preferences as well as how knowledgeable one is in doing such.
There's so many other intricate options one could enable/disable as well as how the device is used and what applications one has on there phone and which ones were used during the said period as well which ones are allowed to run in the background so as not to restrict any notifications for chosen apps etc and the implementation of wether 4G or 5G is being used or data over Wi-Fi can all significantly have an effect on everyone's own personal experiences, I could go into more detail but those in the know will get what I'm saying...

I have an iPhone and the battery life is incredible until I use mobile data in which the battery drains so fast. Is it the same on the fold? Because 6-7 hours or screen on time with heavy usage is almost the same as the pro max iphones but only connected to wifi, not mobile data.

I've had mine for a week now and have never ended the day under 40%. Of course I don't keep my face buried in my phone all day, that's just normal use mainly on the big screen.

Yes I'm on day 2 off owning it , and right out the gate the battery feels improved over the z fold 3 , hopefully it continues as it learns my usage patterns .

Good reveiw and Try don't charge full because it isn't good for battery for long time such as after year ( you can use Bixby routines and programe to not be charge more than 97).
It would have been great if Samsung make a Smart Battery Case for this massive phone !
Throw on a magsafe case and get yourself a magsafe power bank. That's my plan.
Mine drains 2-3% an hour in standby with every app in deep sleep.
Even overnight in airplane mode it drains 4-5%

Love my fold 4. It cost me almost twice as much as my previous phone(S20) but it was well wroth it.

Absolutely agree battery sucks!! Few mates got the phone with me and all same no even 6 hours when is almost flat. With not heavy use.
Spot on, I always have power saving mode on and wifi/gps turned off and while I'm at work I play music in the background and the battery drains at least 20%, oh and the phone is roasting your leg while it's sitting in your pocket.
I'm not sure how you get almost 7 hours of screen on time. I can barely get 4 even with my phone in light profile mode. Can you share your settings that get you that 7 hrs of screen on time?

I came here cause I have this issue too. The b3 really sucks. Started my morning with a 100% and had to charge it from 35% by 1pm to a 100%. I think it takes more than 20% imo in just one hr.

I can get about 6 hours of SOT with the inner screen, mainly for videos and web browsing. Games will drain the battery very fast, I get about 3.5 hours SOT with light gaming.
What is the total use time though?

Hey, I just want to ask if anyone use this phone with WhatsApp as the main messenger app. I’m reaching 5.5hrs of SoT until around 25-28%, with intense use of WhatsApp and few other apps daily, no gaming, and also 70% is on the front screen. Is this normal? Or WhatsApp is just really draining battery no matter what phone you use?
FYI, all other settings, Location is turned on but Wi-Fi scanning is turned off, Bluetooth is on, Wi-Fi is on when at home / office, NFC is off. Performance profile is Standard.
Check what app is taking up most of the battery and uninstall
@@sebichaos well, I can't uninstall WhatsApp, as I live in Indonesia, this is an essential app. The highest usage is usually TikTok (even if I only use it for 30-40mins a day), and right behind it is usually WhatsApp
I can't wait to upgrade my 3. My 4 won't be here till the end of September.

Thanks! I pretty much used the default settings. I removed adaptive brightness, I also did have the always on display set to on.
It's much improved from the 3. I still wouldn't want any less than what the 4 has. I haven't tried the 5, but I'd imagine the SDg2 much improves the batt life again.
I love my fold 4, I kept upgrading everytime and it is an absolute must to upgrade. Soo much value in soo less a cost
So you definitely see a difference in the battery life because for me this is the only deciding factor, I really like my fold 3 but for a better battery I would go to the 4

Thats a lie z fold 4 battery is trash note 10 plus is trash battery also but zfold 4 is more trash than note 10 plus. Pls to all buyer think about this
So I've had the phone I got it today and it was fully charged at 3pm it's now 11.44pm and it's 70%
would be great doing that test after 6 month from thus video 4k+ mah is logically not a great battery for heavy use

Switch off the wifi and Check it with Mobile data on then you will see different results. 🤙

@@big55trucking51 that's how the battery is across all Samsung phones. Fanboys always lie and go to extreme lengths to prove otherwise. Z fold 4 has better battery than fold 3 but it's still horrible, cannot last more than 4 hours of heavy use, impossible. Same with s22 ultra. If you just use your phone for watching videos or browsing web, of course it will last longer but that's not real world use for many people like us

Did you use smartswitch to transfer data from your old phone? If so, try to clear partition cache on recovery mode. It might help
@@TechVerveyt I was getting around 3.5 hours of sot. However I guess u found the culprit. Edge was hogging the battery and keeping phone hot all the time. It used to happen with my note 20 ultra as well. After uninstallikg it, My phone is cool and getting much better battery. Let's see over the next few days.

Make sure to set it to 50mp or it'll look grainy. I only noticed how grainy it looked after looking at my photo on the big inner screen.

If you know what you're doing and charge your phone properly from 0 to 100% , battery life is amazing 👏 my Z fold 4 lasted me 2 and a half days. LOVING THIS PHONE 📱 💖

Nah no way... any phone will last if you don't use it. I got the fold for the screen... why carry a brick to just not use it? I game on my lunch and other breaks it kills it. This is a 1 day phone at best.

No not at all! It’s performed really well. Even when I did some intense stuff or had multiple apps open, it felt and performed well

YES, YES AND HELL YES. The only way to get better battery is to basically turn off so many things and tweak this and that and I still see z fold 4 barely being better than z fold 3. I use light performance profile with 60 hz and still the battery is meh
Most people have been impressed with the fold 4 battery over the fold 3. I'm not doing any special tweaking of settings and I'm not having any battery anxiety like I had with fold 3. I'm easily making it through the day and don't charge to a 100 percent. Took some camera comparison pics against S22 Ultra and fold 4 did great. I'm thrilled with my watch 5 pro and fold 4. I'm like the buds pro 2 too but never use buds that often. Anyways, good luck with your phone.
@@matrix1169a maybe they don't use their phone to make CALLS? I live in Chicago with amazing t mobile coverage and still battery drains so quickly on a normal phone call. Same with z fold 3 and s22 ultra. Why people haven't noticed this is beyond me

How are you getting that much battery? I don't use it on power save mode and mostly using the larger screen, You definitely need to test it again using the large display.

After 2 weeks with the phone I'm averaging about 6 to 8 hours screen on time.
My S22U (SD) gets 5 hours SoT max, 6 if I charge to 100. I'm upgrading to the fold
